Yes, it did, due to the Excise Tax Act of 2017. The increase in price was due to taxes and increased the price on imported wines by over 10%. Since the tax was imposed, in other words, after factoring in the increase in price due to the new taxes, the prices of imported wines have decreased along with the strengthening Baht.
You can find your own link on the YOY changes in the price of imported wines. My observations are based on my own purchases.
I'm not sure what "old prices" are, but if you are referring to prices immediately before the increases due to the tax changes, then yes the strengthening of the baht has not yet offset the increase in price due to tax.
hope that helps you!
They increased taxes on the back of soaring baht. Gee I wonder why they did that. If your going to make claims about cheap wine you need to back it up. Its not up to me to do that. What store, what wine, what price?
Us wine lovers are waiting to place orders ☺

Wine jumped through the roof last year. it would need to drop 30% to get back to old prices. please provide a link or it didn't happen

There's more to Thailand than the <deleted> place you like to live in/ go to.
Some places on the islands are jaw droppingly beautiful, sea is definitely swimmable in, air is clean and clear, no garbage anywhere, food is wonderful, no traffic, no police. LOS isn't the only place in the world one can't drink tap water, and food isn't expensive unless want to eat processed imported food. If don't like alcoholic drink prices, no one is forcing one to drink it.
Try getting out a bit before slagging LOS off.
But you left Thailand. That poster had some valid points especially the air it appears the whole of Thailand is choking and Bangkok has been bad the last few days.
I head back to oz for a year shortly for medical reasons and free medication something that would cost a fortune here and look forward to 5 litres cask wine (250 bht) and cheese and deli foods dirt cheap
Thailand is and was all about the pussy and take that away and NONE of us would be here! but even that is way to expensive as western currency continues to Free fall with no end in sight

hey must make a killing in places like Khao San where all the drunk backpackers almost certainly either lose the key/receipt or forget to claim back the deposit. It's free money for the hotel.
Done that myself and wasn't even drunk or a backpacker and of course the cow at reception didn't remind me. Just another scam

They survived just fine for years when there more punters in Pattaya who liked air conditioned comfort and 150 baht was the two or three quid it was a few years ago rather than the four quid it would be now.
Very few bars around them are open 24/7 a day. They almost all shut at 3 am or earlier if no punters are about.
Your being silly and splitting hairs. Let me rephrase ,opened 19/7 , feel better now? by the way those bars have been losing money for 5 years, surely your not dumb enough to believe they folded because of just one low season...right? Any idiot can make business plans just based on the good times
And the Thai bars continue to prosper ..ain't rocket science

42,000 per month? EASY!!!
Just 15,000 baht per month to live in a decent hotel in the heart of Udon Thani. Includes 24/7 air con, all utilities and WiFi. Fresh towels & linen daily, room cleaned daily. Hospital, shopping, markets, farang bars/restaurants, gyms, swimming pools, spacious manicured parklands and huge shopping mall all outside your front door. No lease required. No car required. No motor bike required. Pack up and leave to explore other Provinces whenever you want (or even move in with new GFs for a while!). Come back to hotel whenever you want. Unlike many others on here you are single with no property nor lease. You have freedom. Live the life others dream of...
The only downside is you actually have to live there and 15 k for udon 20 sqm hotel room? that's not far off Bangkok money, your paying way to much

Mine shoots up that high if I spray my Deodorant in the room.... but they've been running 10-30 at the moment.
I left the balcony open yesterday afternoon for a short while and it ran shot up to 85.
Mine maxes out at that if I'm frying food but eventually settles down at 5 except today where its been 15 all day

I've never had a problem, don't walk on the edge of the pavement and they can't grab stuff.
Had one attempt to snatch my phone in Phnom Penh, my grip was stronger than his, and he almost fell off his m/c.
These guys are as small and delicate as little girls, and you're all scared of them?
Its not about a fist fight and being scared but getting caught by surprise when 2 guys speed off on a bike after snatching a bag plus without doubt a knife being being produced to avoid capture
-
Ear plugs or thousands of bikes all with thumb permanently on horn will drive you insane
Do NOT carry a man bag or hand bag, the level of violence is far higher against farangs in Vietnam than Thailand which are nearly all lady boy related here so easy to avoid

you are so wrong, every day is a great day here in thailand, it is not like the slum australia has become, clubs , pokies , horses, you can bet on anything 24 hours a day, and that is all people do in aus. Now here in thailand you can go to a bar, get <deleted> without being thrown out by the cranky women bar keep, you can get laid every night by a beautiful , if you want young lass, you can drive out in the bush as fast as you like, YOU ARE FREE, not like aus, just back after 2 weeks there to pick up some more money and no way that i ever want to go back to the UNLUCKY country, aus was once great , not any more, you should shut up and let your mate have a good time, as you do not know nothing !
Wow your rating Oz on horse races? Personally I loved suiting up and heading off to the track on a Saturday in the member's stand.
You can rent a young Asian on line in oz too like you can here for LESS!!
How's the oz pension in Thailand treating you? just had lunch with an old mate and he showed me his pension that arrived today, 35k !!! half of the retirement visa minimum..Ozzie's like you are delusional that your happy here, what nonsense your going to starve to death on the oz pension or end up dead in your room due to no money for hospital emergency

I know two established British pubs that have thrown in the towel this year.
The Butchers Arms Soi Buhkaow.
The Pig and Whistle Soi 7.
And one recently opened venture that's folded.
The Queens Arms. Soi Buhkaow
That's just the ones I'm aware of. There are also bars closed or with For Sale signs up all over the place.
Maybe things aren't really that bad and it's just that the owners have reacted 'like it's the end of the world'.
How can they survive when selling pints for 150 when all around them Thai bars selling tallies for 70 baht 24/7

Show me someone who claims they budgeted that the value of their foreign currency and/or income would fall by 50 per-cent and I'll show you a liar. Added to that is the financial requirements doubled just a few years ago, and it's little wonder that some might be struggling. So your snide remark is unnecessary and ill-advised.
Let's get real, it was the embassies that pulled the rug and now real money and not pretend is required. This is the real reason people are bitter but have only their governments and themselves to blame
