It's difficult to get people to stop smoking, we have some apartments for rent and it's classed as a "None Smoking Building" we have good smoke alarms that are hard wired down to the security office, I know guest smoke on the balcony, we have a smoking area out the front of the building and also on the roof you can smoke, We have been very lucky over the last few years, nobody has set off the alarm, we would be notified almost right away the management are right on things like that, It always had me worried when they legalised dope, I have it written in the contract, "NO SMOKING" of any kind inside,
