So with the horrid state of the UK pound the repayments on our SUV have gotten just too much. We need to downsize quite drastically.
Wife doesn't want a pick-up - so I think that will leave what she calls 'the small cars'. Question is, which to choose? There seems so many - Suziki Swift, Mazda 2, Honda City, Honda Jazz, Toyota Yaris etc
But does anyone have any experience with these cars? What's the best for taking kids to school, shopping, and occasional trips at weekend?
Thank you for any advice!
Cheers. J

Aside from issues mentioned in the post above, is that Pattaya was popular with Europeans, Australians and Americans because it was the city of sin. Attempts to make it a clean family resort are doomed to failure given only a fool would swim in its filthy waters, and the strategy makes other places far more appealing.
Indeed, Pattays has only ever been good at one thing. And let's be honest it was the best at that thing. That thing should have been promoted instead of brushed under the carpet.

Sorry, all "Other".
Living on the outskirts of BKK, when you have no need to travel downtown, is much better.

I am a very frequent flyer on Thai Airways, from Bangkok around the SE/NE Asian region.
I very much question this report.
In fact, I'd say it is bu*&%$it.

Thailand bit of a joke. Other countries all make speeches. Thailand can't because no one in seniority can speak English!

Just put electronic tags on all of us and be done with it.

Love it. Xenophobia alive and kicking in Thailand. Report foreigners here!!!
Just image, just for a second or two, if Australia, UK or US introduced a similar policy.
There would be worldwide outrage.

I am 51, non-imm visa based on marriage. From UK.
Today me and wife went to Immigration at CW. I needed a proof of residence letter to renew driving licence.
On applying for the letter (200 baht for delivery, which takes two weeks), the lady officer informed us that I no longer need to do 90 days reports. Now, I have only done one 90 day report in the past few years because I frequently have to work abroad for a couple of days at a time.
Anyway, the immigration official said there's no need to do 90 day reports any more.
Instead we need to notify (or actually my wife needs to notify) immigration every time I return from a work trip abroad. On this website, she said - https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn24online/
We've been married for 15 years and never ever done this. But the immigration officer said we need to do this from now on as it "could affect future applications for visa extensions" through marriage.
I was a bit suprised about this. Never heard of this requirement. Is all this correct? Should we now do this and do I need to forget 90 day reports?
Any advice/comments appreciated.
Thank you!

What a farce. Great Thai democracy at work.

My take on this: if you lend money to a Thai don't expect to get it back. If you do get it back, be very surprised.
It is what is called as dishonesty and the Thais (especially men) are very good at it.

If this includes all my expenses - ie, car, kids school fees, eating, drinking, petrol, wife's spending (10K) - then about 46K. No monthly expenses for house as it is paid already.

Always put the blame on external factors. Typical Thainess, never look at ownself and self improvement.
To be fair, all companies do this across the world (even Boeing!).
They cannot accept mistakes - puts the share value down big time.

He said his life and business in Thailand was destroyed after a simple Facebook posting.
That guy, who uses prosthetic legs, still sells his burgers near to where I live. Does a very good business near the main market and his burgers are very nice. In addition, he and his wife seem a very happy couple indeed. I see him quite regularly and, judging by what I see, his life has not been 'destroyed' at all.

What a joke. By looking at this anyone would think politics in Thailand is actually a competition of who has the best policies and the best interests of the people at heart!

Work in Tokyo quite regularly. There's big difference between there and Bangkok.
Japan enforces laws efficiently and effectively and has competent law enforcement officials.
Here? Well, we all know.

best small car?
in Thailand Motor Discussion

This is OP. Went to look at the Jazz and City at Honda today. Both look good but a little uninspiring. But as I've tried to explain to the wife: This is about money! It's a necessary move, 20K repayments on the SUV are just too much.
Of course, she's not best pleased. (I think she likes the 'face' of having a big car)
Anyway, two others I plan to look at before a decision: Yaris and Mazda 2.
