What interests me is that people think everything will proceed on a straight line development, ie industrial revolution, computers, digital society. I think major problems await us due to overpopulation, potential world war, pestilence etc.

Colorado schools are closed due to an "unknown" virus- Gaia strikes back. In any event, rarity of the raw materials necessary to create the digital society make it a dream at the moment. Most of the planet's rare earth come from?????? That's right, China!

Anyway, I hope I'm dead before it happens. I have no wish to have my life controlled by unknown pimply kids running the computer programs that will rule everyone in a digital/ cashless society.

Smart elderly people in positions of power arrange for youth to die on their behalf or impoverish them into maturity and responsibility. We rule,  have the best education, best work ethic, best life experiences etc. We are tougher, more resourceful,  more adventurous,  more fearless . Modern kids are just mard, essily led, gullible.

No, we decided not to go down the paperback road (save the trees and all that) therefore our products are in e format. Remuneration for authors is something we discuss. We believe in being fair with everyone!!!

Not really supposed to announce this yet, but we have a scoop, which is a series of true stories written by a Thai prison volunteer! Coming soon, as they say!

Well I wish you luck. Ill look out for your stuff.

  3. You must identify by observation the insects that are causing this by close scrutiny of your environment.  Also the nature of the bite will reflect which insect is causing the problem. Have there been any cats around?

    Fantastic!

My biggest is 35kg from Bansumran.  Mrs Owl caught one weighing 33kg from the Pattaya fishing park. A long while ago now (12 years).

Hooked it at 17-50 and landed it in the dark at 19-05. Note the harness! I caught a 7kg common carp on the same day.

There was a decent fishing park at the end on soi 14 or 16 in Jontiem. I heard it had been filled in to create a bungee attraction; anyone?

On 2nd Rd. I was there 3 years ago.

I live in a small Isaan village. If someone isn't having a party or wake at 7am with those crazy speakers blasting out morlam, then there are guys driving pickup trucks loaded with mattresses or watermelons belting something out through a loudhailer.  I rarely get a chance to sleep in past 8am. Noise pollution is not a real thing in Thailand. When I ask my wife about it I get the classic Thai smile and she just says that's how it is.

But then again the first thing in my memory from my adventures in Thailand as a young man is that incessant bell-ringing of the street food vendors near Khao San road after having had a skinfull the night before. I don't know why they insist on using those bells to attract custom in an area surrounded with hotels and guesthouses packed with hungover people. Maybe that's part of the experience. Or maybe they are trying to attract blind people. Who knows. Thailand is a funny place.

The bell ringers all have different chimes to indicate different things for sale. I find them charming. Fairly melodious. They are in other countries too.

I had to move out of $1900 a month condo because the guy next store had a surround sound system. There was nothing the management could do about it. They told me to hand pictures on the wall.

The base would penetrate through the walls. My bed room was next store, so i started sleeping in the living room, still could hear it. He smoked weed too, would come through the walls. The fat fug would set the timer at night and bake blood cakes, my whole apartment would smell like cake in the middle of the night!

    blood cakes?

Wait for Immigration to raise the subject, they probably won’t.  If they do tell them that you tried but can’t get insured because of your age. Leave it there, do not try to convince them of anything. If you do not get an extension you could ask what you should do, you are in their hands. I can not see that after fourteen years and money in the bank that any one will push the issue because there is no practical reason to prevent you extending your visa. I expect that you have always found that if you don’t upset them or allow them to paint themselves into a corner, Thai people can be very accommodating and understanding and the older you are the better.

Your last paragraph regarding Thais being helpful is usually true. Good advice. The OP might consult an agent. My agent is also an insurance agent.

I am there because my wife is from there. I love my wife and any place in the world would be good for me as long as I am with her. Being that it is Thailand is a bonus.

Before Thailand I was spinning my wheels, just going through the paces. My wife and Thailand gave me a new lease in life. Thailand like any other place in the world has the good and the bad, I enjoy the good, try to avoid the bad and whatever bad I can't avoid I consider it a small price to pay for all I have.

A litle over 10 years married now.

After my daughter from another marriage. best thing that ever happened to me.

Good to hear. Thailand turned my life around 29 years ago.....but in a different way.
