My Thai son, his wife nd 3 kids live in Chiang Mai. They turn up for coffee and son has to regularly say to neighbors 'please don't visit us'. Same with outer circle relatives, from, Bkk, Tak, Suko Thai, Chonburi. All of they call to say they are coming to CM for the week-end etc., to 'help look after the children' (who don't need looking after). The family outspoken ignorant ladyboy (lives in Bkk) has turned up at son's house with 4 or 5 friends from Chiang Mai, announcing that they will do a BBQ in son's garden. (He has some form of pass from his gov't job and uses it to get past check points along with a car load of his buddies all packed into a car, no masks and no distancing). Son has told him several times 'NO, you cannot come to my house, we have to maintain distancing, you should stay at your apartment in Bkk'. Son is now labelled as hating his in-laws and a trouble maker. Part of this situation is that they believe you can't catch Covid 19 from other family members.

Over 2 decades I've booked and used my VISA/Thailand based bank credit card to pay for maybe 25 flights for my Thai son when he was going backwards and forwards to Singapore to go to school, plus son and wife, sons' wife, son & wife and 3 kids. At check-in never once any questions about/requests to see the credit card used to pay for the tickets. However the first time I did this I was in Bkk and my son was in S'pore and about to return to Bkk. I was concerned he might be asked to show the card at Changi. So I did a one page scan of the credit card (back and front but not showing the sec. no), plus a copy of the first page of my passport. They didn't ask. At home in Bkk my son laminated the page I had prepared and carried it with him for all his school trips. Never once did anybody ask any questions.

Given all the discussions and announcements and contracts etc., etc., in the last 3 or 4 years on rail gauge, double tracks, hi-speed trains etc., I'm wondering why this hasn't been discussed and actioned before? Surely this would have / should have been part of the earlier discussions? Or is it just another example of creating budgets for the corrupt politicians and beaurocrats and contractors to get their sticky fingers into? Sort of like the beach repairs in Pattaya and the drainage projects on Suk. Rd in Pattaya, many and more hundreds of millions budgets and 'completions' than can be counted, 90% of which has achieved nothing. And the corruption is so obvious but the corrupt politicians and beaurocrats and contractors just don't care.

Exemption from that policy is available and plenty of folks have got it. If you can prove you are also a resident of another country you get approval to leave. Showing a Certificate or Residence or Tabien Baan book with your name in it gets the exemption from the rule. Another international carrier is operating a once a day service out of Australia, have been for many months.

I got the full AZ vaccination as soon as available for my age. Coming soon I will get a Pfizer booster. I was keen to get the shots: - For my own health - To ensure I'm doing as much as I can to protect my family - So that I'm contributing to getting the numbers up in regard to the total numbers and the % of the community up, in my immediate and the wider community and the country. I have no hesitation to say 'Yes, I've had 2 AZ shots'. Further, If I end up on a bus or plane or in a taxi I'm hoping that those close to me are vaccinated and i automatically wear a mask and try to do distancing as best possible To be honest, I find folks who say 'I'm strong, I don't need it' to be very ignorant and very selfish. But If they make such statements and look for any reason to avoid masks or avoid distancing, then I hope laws are changed/enhanced to punish these people.

I don't know the full answer except that others have said it's very possible. Hopefully the more tech savvy members will share a specific/valuable answer. I know it's possible because there are many 'telephone' companies in Australia who offer (at a cost) to legally, rewire your home/company telephone system to incorporate voip (voice over internet protocol). One real example, when I am in Australia and I call SQ airlines on their Sydney landline number the call instantly connects into the VOIP systems and I speak, free, to a SQ officer located in Singapore.

Even better: If you have internet connection/access on your phone, other devices: - Install LINE or VIBER in your smartphone, super easy and takes 2 or 3 seconds. LINE can also be installed on your PC or notebook. Not sure about VIBER. - Tell you relies/friends in the UK to also install LINE or VIBER. - Use the normal local phone number to start a call, other party accepts you into their friends list. All calls, SMS and videochat calls are free. Connection can be anywhere in the world as long as internet is automatic in your device.

Good point. In a pure structured research scenario there would be many required diverse broad protocols/comparisons. Seems to me that's not what we have in this case. In fact I'm guessing that because Pfizer is the current 'flavor of the month/the most popular' (to the Thai 'professionals', including the most vocal who are politicians who know nothing about the real subject at hand, rather then a respected team of aligned qualified experienced respected medical researchers) Pfizer is therefore the only comparison. Sad, when millions of Thais struggle* to get even a first jab. (*many of my Thai relatives have registered online, registered by hand at various venues and institutes, called numerous published phone numbers and more, all with no result. Or get registered and even get bookings which eventually 'evaporate'. They remain lost and confused while they read/see on TV stories about hi-so folks, politicians aunts & uncles etc., getting jabs. My own Thai son and his Thai wife went to a medical institute which was advertising dates and times for jabs, they registered together and took smartphone photos of the documents they completed and handed in. Two weeks later my son got an SMS with date/time 5 days later. He attended and got his first shot. He asked about his wife, and showed his smartphone photos of her submission, the admin. folks claimed his wife had never registered and refused to discuss further. She's still registering frequently, getting nowhere.)

Agree, plus a delay time so that all involved can speak up to ensure they don't get caught in the next steps (if there are any next steps).
