What is a travel card?

Important point. My Thai son's wife has an older brother and an older sister. Both her brother and sister make regular demands for: money, vehicles, land, houses and more. Son's wife is very frightened of her scaly loud abusive older brother , both have completed 3 years of primary school and nothing more and they are ignorant of any government procedures, regulations etc. I don't blame son's wife of being afraid of them. A few weeks back DIL's r elder brother and sister (together) demanded she hand over her husband's (my Thai son's): bankbooks*, chanut for the land recorded in sons' name, blue books for his 3 vehicles (car, pick up, mcy). She refused and quickly fled out of the house and called her husband to report what had just happened. (*and they indicated they would go to the loc bank(s) and get blank withdrawal forms and they would be expecting son's wife to trick her husband into signing the withdrawal forms. This was an 'updated move', they had previously taken blank withdrawal forms from K Bank , then they went to another bank with the K Bank withdrawal form which they had signed themselves and demanded the second bank hand over the cash amount written on the withdrawal form. Bank cashier refused and was threaten with violence. police called, Big brother and sister taken to local police station.

Australian Aged Pension
scorecard replied to VOICEOVER's topic in Australia & Oceania Topics and Events
I'm lost. Does this mean a normal pension rise around 20 Marcg. Plus a bonus: AUD950 rise in the standard fortnightly rate, or a once off payment of AUD950? -
How much do you pay your Thai woman per month?
scorecard replied to Robert_Smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
"Exorbitant amounts" ... reminds me of a very wealthy American who met a young Thai man, Thai already married with 3 young kids. Thai man had a dream of setting up a dairy farm with all modern equipment, selling large amounts of milk / milk products to Japanese operators in Thailand and more. Wealthy American offered to pay for land for a dairy and all high tech buildings equipment, cows and a salary of 300,000Baht a month to the young Thai man if he left his wife and kids and didn't contact them. Thai man left his wife and proceeded to plan /design / build the dairy farm, buy the equipment / vehicles etc., all paid for by the American. Then the Thai man got greedy, demanding a 3Baht weight gold necklace every month and a big BMW car and more. Then the Thai man committed suicide. Then his estranged wife had the land, and all the dairy operations transferred to her ownership. She then asked the American to employ a Thai manager to operate the farm, reporting to her. She became quite wealthy and used her rising wealth to educate her 3 kids at the best schools. American returned to the USA a broken man. -
Thai Airways Ban Power Bank Charging on Flights from March 1
scorecard replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I can't understand why Power banks are not required to be designed / built to much better standards. A fire on board in a Power bank to me indicates one thing - very poor design / manufacture. -
Surely 3BB can accept payments online.

AIS Takes Lead in Cleaning Up Thailand's Messy Power Poles
scorecard replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Where would you start? I wonder what gov't agencies have cables in this mess? I wonder if this includes cables installed by old style 'Cable TV' companies? And do these companies now use the internet to distribute their product? Therefore their physical cables are redundant? If these cables from private companies? Do they have documented permission to us these poles to string their cables? -

Why would he be attending an ASEAN meeting, he's not an elected official, he's not authorized to make statements on behalf of Thailand nor make decisions on behalf of Thailand.- 56 replies

Why do they never stop at Zebra Crossings?
scorecard replied to Robert_Smith's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I deliberately watch for signs on the side of the road and overhead hanging signs (often with lights so I know when zebra crossings are coming up and I instantly start to slow down, applying the red stop light on the rear of my car momentarily to warn cars behind me that I am slowing down. It works. -

I'll adjust my above comment: 'give him 5 minutes and he'll invent a less than adult / less than common sense reason to argue with 7/11'. -
My daughter in law's big brother is a full on loud talk too much lady boy. We stopped going to dinner when he comes to town because he causes total confusion with the food order. Orders his meal then 2 minutes tells another waiter to cancel it. Three kids order meals, all done, same they have ordered / eaten before, but L.boy then insists 'no you won't like that, you should have xxx then tells the waiter to change that kids order. My son intervenes, tells ladyboy to be quiet and reinstates what his 3 daughters have ordered. all done. Ladyboy says he's going to the toilet finds the waiter are reverses the food order again. and cancels what his sister (my son's wife) has ordered along with 'don't you remember when you were a little girl you got sick from that food, then tells the waiter 'cancel' and ladyboy orders new food for his sister. Then ladyboy says that I will have to go to a different restaurant because this one has no farang food. Son now annoyed tells his l'boy BIL, 'the farang eats Thai food every day because he likes Thai food and spicy'. I don't go to another restaurant. Now when L.boy come to town son's wife makes phone / online orders for pizza, hamburgers and KFC for home delivery. When delivery rider comes with the food, L.boy is prevented from trying to talk to the delivery boy.

Not the only 'operator' that delivers part of the order late. I flew AA from Tokyo to Texas. With one meal AA offered heavily discounted small bottles of a well known popular white wine, with the meal. Full flight. Well before service stared the American lady next to me pressed the cabin crew button, crew member came 10 minutes later all in a fluster. Passenger asked 'Do I order the white wine now or what?" Crew member (quite overweight older American lady) didn't know. Passenger said 'well I would like an answer. Crew lady disappeared, 10 minutes later returned 'Order it when your tray table is distributed'. Much later tray comes, crew member is totally disorganized had to continuously go back to the galley for something. Lady next to me and myself said 'we would like to order the white wine'. Response 'you're too late have to order in advance. American lady starting to lose it says 'but you're the crew member who told us earlier cannot order in advance. Older crew member lady shrugs and walks away. We arrived, same old crew member standing just inside the aircraft door with 2 bottles of white wine, opened and a sign showing the 2 seat numbers. American passenger says it's way too late, I don't want it now and I rather doubt it's legal to walk into the airport with an open bottle of wine in my hands. Crew member says '$8.95 please'. American passenger brushes the crew member aside and keeps walking, I did the same.

Why do they never stop at Zebra Crossings?
scorecard replied to Robert_Smith's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Several times in uni classes international exchange students have raised this subject. Two common responses from the Thai students: - There's no law to say drivers have to stop. - Cannot be law because it would disrupt the traffic flow too much. -
Why do they never stop at Zebra Crossings?

Sure but the reality is that cops on motorcycles are also offenders re zebra crossings. Recall the young cop who killed a respected doctor on a zebra crossing outside Chula. hospital 18 months ago. -
Should I stay ou should I go? (Pattaya, Phuket)
scorecard replied to Franck60's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Perhaps you should seriously ask yourself 'Why did I not visit Pattaya and Phuket earlier?' Is the reason that you had read / heard so much negative about P and P that you crossed both places off the list? If true that perhaps suggests the bar girl scenario just doesn't interest you (it's not compulsory). If true why add these places now?
