  1. Which of your stated options do you like?

I have always bought and currently buy, auto's and bikes for one reason only. I like(d) them.

Some may concur with my choice and others may not.

    I could care less?

Without questioning their motives, the personal preference of others is purely anecdotal. Yet their reasoning is worth consideration.

Forget the mama cr@p & get some real pasta

All Mama is deep fried in Palm Oil before being packaged

Not to mention tons of salt/sodium

Mama use rice noodles, which aren't pasta, which is wheat based.

Although I've never heard the term myself in the US, many Americans refer to pasta as 'noodles', for some reason. Guess they don't come from Italian stock.

In a hot and humid country, salt becomes an important consideration in a healthy diet.

    Thanks for your reply alacrity.

I know it is crazy, but everywhere I went, from Home Pro to Global to Thai Watsadu had the same thing. You can get Metric threads up to 8 mm diameter, then for some crazy reason anything bigger is only available in UNC !!!

The first one I fitted I used my 10mm tap, then inserted a UNC bolt using epoxy as the threads are close, just a little smaller diameter.

I have managed to sort it using 8mm bolts instead, which seem to be strong enough.............Nothing is ever simple, but we adapt and overcome ..................

    Glad you sorted the problem.

For future reference, try Pranburi rather than Hua Hin, for things you need.

I am rebuilding some metalwork and needed 10 mm bolts, I have to tap into three quarter steel, but cannot find 10 mm bolts anywhere. that is why I have 3/8 inch. bolts.

So, if I'm interpreting your posts correctly, you can't find 10mm threaded bolts in a country with metric National Standards.

If you're talking about bolt length. Then, a 0,5mm loss in length means nothing as you're guaranteed to exceed the minimum thread contact requirement. If not, the problem is with the hardware.

If you're talking about threaded diameters. Then, a 0,5mm loss is significant if the 3/4 steel is tapped 10mm.

If the latter is true. It would be better to re-drill the holes and re-tap i.a.w a suitable bolt you can buy.

    sorry ?

I never said anything about the invoice as pictured by another poster.

    No you didn't.

I conflated the original post to emphasize the point I was attempting to make, regarding veracity of the stated quotation.

    Didn't mean to offend.

  6. A copy of the content up to the last issue of tabien will suffice. Same with the mandatory insurance.

I carry copies of the Tabien also. Along with a copy of the receipts.

Never had a problem regarding bikes.

With cars, I display current Tabien, but never offer originals of other documentation.

    Again, never had a problem.

  7. After almost 3 years the battery on my truck failed. We were taken to B-Quick where a replacement battery was fitted. At the time I questioned the compatibility of what they fitted. They showed me that it had the same; Ah and CCA ratings despite it's physically smaller size. They also claimed it was the OEM battery for Toyota Vigo et al. It came with a one year warranty.

Earlier today that battery suddenly failed, without warning and was confirmed to be unserviceable by parametric tests. It was only fitted 13 months ago and the battery was 15 months old.

Needless to say, I now have a new battery fitted.

Given my recent experience, I now rescind 100% of what I said in an earlier post. I also rescind 50% of what I thought at that time.

It's quite possible that Toyota have used some goofy batteries in recent builds and are hiding behind their PR screen.

Doubt a Toyota a dealership would be using Chinese copy parts, guaranteed some parts used in the Toyota dealership are made in China though.... to Toyota's spec.

A quick search on those stabilizer links and Bt.1780ea is about right.

Can't remember the last time I saw a handwritten list of parts presented to a customer by a main dealer.

Certainly not in this century and there's no header on the sheet.

If you can search, then so can others.

Some grifters are smarter than others.

  9. There's generally more than one 'roadside' that fixes fans and such. Trying others may yield a more favourable  outcome.

If not, consider your expenditure in time spent and just buy a new one.

Cheap multi meters are available at any electric shop, Lazada, Shopee or hardware store and are a good investment for the long term.  Check voltage between the the socket normal holes (should be about 220v) then check between ground hole and each of the socket holes - one should be zero and other the same 220v.  That proves ground and you can easily test any socket without removing from wall.  If you do not get about the same voltage reading between the live and ground there is a problem that needs to be taken care of but have someone with experience do it.

    YUGOเครื่องวัดมัลติมิเตอร์- Digital Multimeter DT830B | Zilingo ...

Unlikely to be an absolute zero.  Theoretically, the higher the value is, the poorer the earthing circuit.

If the value is high. Back emf can cause spurious results.

Crosscheck that by simply probing the terminals with the live input to the DMM and the -ve/LO terminal to to the floor or wall your apartment.

7 to 15V should be considered as normal. Approaching 32V is permissible, but not so good.

Haven't seen a domestic refrigerator, with a separate earthing requirement for more than 20 years.

    North or South ?

there is a dealer in Hat Yai going south and a dealer in Hua Hin going north, from Phuket that is.

Assume they're referring to Chumphon, given the distance stated.

Where's the dealership in Hua Hin?

Price depends on size. Materials included or just labour.

It only looks around 20-30sqm. 100-200g depending on quality of materials

Depends what facilities are already in place.

Guessing it's an 8x8 (total) build and if so this is a good, best case/worst case estimate.

If you're building a few on the same site then reduce the price 10-15%. Maybe 20%.

Tyres deteriorate with age because UV light and the atmosphere cause oxidation and depolymerisation of the rubber.  The rubber goes hard and starts to crack. The tread becomes less compliant and therefore grip is reduced.

Carbon black in the tyre acts as a sacrificial absorber of the UV to protect the rubber. Over time it is progressively used up and the tyre becomes less black and more grey. That's why tyres left in the sun everyday tend to 'rot' more quickly.

I wouldn't use a tyre beyond about 6 years here in Thailand.

As a young engineer I had a colleague killed by an old tyre. He took a test car out on the track and a tyre broke up at high speed. The car flipped off the track. HSE investigated etc.  It turned out that the tyre was 'new old stock' - manufactured over 10 years previously but somehow only just fitted to the car. Nobody had thought to look at the date code.

So, the tire manufacturer was responsible for a third party incompetency.

How on earth did such a thing happen in such an environment that would need multiple incompetents to be the cause?

DOT is 10 years limit. For use in extreme environments (such as those you're indicating), I'd be looking at weeks, not years.

  16. 3 year old car if purchased new, should have 3 year old tires fitted. That may stretch to 4 years, dependent on time of completion. Check the DOT code on each tire for date of manufacture (first 2 digits are week and second 2 digits are year). So the second digits should show; 17 or 18.

If you're being told that you need to change all 4 tires. They're likely to be scamming you.

Lots of reasons why they may be compromised though, especially front tires nowadays (but that would be 2 tires). Listen to what they're telling you. Read up on tire specs and look for yourself before deciding what to do.

Tire brands and variants thereof are a personal preference. All meet the minimum of the approved standard. Tires with over-stated 'ECO' advantages give a hard ride which will get worse over time.

Wife's daily rider came with Michelin ECO's and after 2 years had all the characteristics of a Flintstone wheel.

They may save on fuel, but shake your car to bits. Typical of what's marketed as environmentally friendly.

  17. Given the potential size of the universe, I'd be very surprised if there weren't superior beings around.

Having faith in one individual (or three) just doesn't make sense. There's many alternative religions around.

However, one thing they have in common is a promotion of how to get along with your fellow man in a civilized manner.

Sadly this is/has been exploited by the leaders of all faiths. To an extent that some are not considered to be the right kind of; Buddhist, or Christian, or Muslim, et al. Culminating in all kinds of atrocities.

I do not and will not ever, entertain any organised religion.

One day I'll find out if I'm wrong.
