So true, with the Pollution in CM, the ever changing tweaks to the visa rules, and the declining currency exchange rates, it is time to investigate new countries.

Now matter where you go you need to be in a wilderness area to get awy from mobile phone tower radiation. It will get worse with the introduction of 5G.

My condo reports illegal renters (under 30 days) to immigration. Hope they spend the rest of their holiday in jail. There are thousands of hotels in Thailand. USE THEM.

So what does immigration do to these so-called "illegal renters" then? Threaten to not extend visas? That would work if they are trying to stay longer term if they are just booking an illegal AbnB for a few days, if they are short term what charge would they be jailed on for the rest of their holiday? They are mostly temporary visitors in these AirBnBs who stay a few days maybe never to return. Nothing illegal about renting more than 30 days.

The liable culprits under Thai law are the owners or housemasters of these Condos, not temporary visitors who may never return.

That is why I'm saying getting it now. If staying in Thailand you get an extension at Imm once a year for 1900 baht. You would have to leave Thailand once a year and reenter but with the visa in you passport it would be 6 years not having to worry about extensions and shifting goalposts.

Why would somebody respond "confused" to this?

    certainly not.

and prohibiting short term rent is an unacceptable cut into property rights.

Nothing to do with property rights a condo owner only owns a share of the juristic person. The hotel act prohibits short term rentals. Immigration has cracked down on TM30 all over.

Even if Thai authorities didn't care, short term AbnB guests WILL NOT behave as residents They are not living they are holidaying.  If only they would follow a few simple common sense rules, not make noise and leave filth in the halls to attract vermin it would not be a problem. Illiminating it is an ongoing issue here at my place for the typical reasons.

BTW I have encountered mainland Chinese tourists in large numbers in 3 different countries, always the same screaming and slamming doors at 5AM in the morning it is some kind of innate tendency for them not what people want in a luxury condo.

The only problem I have with your suggestion - and I'm not knocking it - is for all we know the Thai bureaucracy will declare it as a rort, and impose more requirements. It's called shifting the goalposts.

  6. It is interesting as different to other places many things rumored to happen come true.

Now we have mandatory insurance for longstay (O-A) visa. The only rational concept would be for retirees to be to be enrolled in the national scheme at a higher premium, but that won't happen. The Thai insurance policies mooted are rediculous. No way to tell how individual offices will handle this, or deal with hundreds of different policies from dozens of countries if using overseas policy? What if they ask for explanation of benefits in the Thai language with  Certificate of Cover signed within 24 hours?

This new policy will cause confusion and is impacting my retirement plans, and of course opens up more possibilities for "agents" and their fees, or force more to the elite card. If one has  money you will be able to stay just like everywhere else.

This is bad though regarding Thai retirement ideas the "last nail in the coffin" for many.

My AU credit card provides complimentary travel insurance for my 11 month yearly Thai “holiday”. I’ll just flash the Imm Office my credit card. Too easy.

Does the Insurance provided by the AU credit card provide, in the Thai language, a explanation of bneefits and a Certificate of Cover? Not Easy. Hard. This is the final "nail in the coffin" for retiring to Thailand.

The fine come down?...my Moto-friends who didn't have a motorbike endorsement in their Inter-permit were fined 500b last year. Another friend who had all the driving classes checked in his permit impressed the BiB so much that they took a photo of him..twice!

I do believe they know what to look for in a permit. For 10 yrs you have just been lucky. On the other hand they have really only been checking for a license in the last couple of years.

They should have bought fake IDPs like the Chinese do.

How do you know. She may well have Hiv, full blown aids, incurable gonorrhea which is spreading quite rapidly in Thailand more than any other countries, including african countries, (world health organisation),

which will see this 3rd world country soon put on a health alert.

I don't know if she is diseased and you don't know if she is a slut. Why would a Thai visit Singapore anyway are there no malls in BKK?

Perhaps the chilicrab or Universal studios.

I don't like hearing  people denied entry to international airports with no proof. If there is a problem of diseased foreign prostitutes being illegally pimped I would say the the Singapore police are not doing their job and rather not blame the girls, who are in fact the real victims.

Oh for crying out loud, it's a free market. If you don't like the prices at one pharmacy, go to another. Don't like the prices there - try another or call around. Simple.

Not so simple, a market can't be free unless it has transparency.

    Where is value added here?

lordblackasddder was quoted 10 times fair price this is pure racism and greed.

  11. Eyes a little dry due to heat and dust I popped in to one of these small ones.

Did not have what I wanted really but was offered a 10ml vial of Natear, 200 baht.

The kind you have to snip the tip off to open, not particularly medicinal, should be inexpensive?

Balked at the price for a moment, told the man I would think about and left.

Not the slightest smile of courtesy from the "pharmacist" side.

I'm sorry for wasting their time.

Directly across street 7-11 had same for 105 baht.

Not even in the pharmacy section a first aid item available 24 hours.

7-11 stores mark everything up for convenience, what is the real price 75 baht?

The staggering greed and opportunism is something I can never get over here, not a positive aspect I would imagine for most of short-term visitors either.

I have had ladyboys reach for a wallet, African women grab my arm

A few years ago near the Grace hotel I was accosted  by a woman in full Islamic garb offering sex. Lower Suk can resemble the Cantina scene from Star Wars, this story is believable IMHO
