SMT means the last leg of the transfer was done via domestic SMART system so to the Thai bank and immigration officer it appears to be just any other domestic transfer. All the other stuff you mention about CMB, USA bank statement, SSA deposits, etc., will just glaze over most every immigration officers' eyes because unless you have a very understanding/forgiving immigration office they want to see Thai bank documentation that confirms international transfers.
PIP So if I understand you correctly, I will in all likelihood be required to get Bangkok Bank letter indicating the transfers originated from the USA? I thought that is why people use Transferwise is to ensure the proper coding.

Yes, if, repeat if, those Transferwise transfers are showing on your Bangkok Bank passbook with "FTT" coding....on your Bangkok Bank ibanking it will show as "International Transfer."
PIB, I have looked at the passbook and it shows a coding of SMT also one transaction updated apparently combined 3 transfers when it updated my passbook with a coding of CMB Combined No Book . I do have my USA banking statements, showing my Social Security deposits, and the debit from Transferwise and then the transaction records from Transferwise showing the debit to my USA bank and transfer to Thailand in THB.

With all of the confusing posts on ACH and IAT transfers I hope someone can clear this up. I have been having my Social Security transferred into my USA bank and then Transferwise transferring it to Bangkok Bank. Does this show to immigration the evidence for the monthly transfer?

xyophone well The Trump Organization is a group of about 500 business entities of which Donald Trump is the sole or principal owner.[4] About 250 of these entities use the Trump name. The Trump entities have total revenue of approximately $695 million and 22,000 employees. Now tell me just how stupid you are if you compare yourself to his accomplishments? Also, tell me the number of business run and employees hired by Clinton, Pelsosi, Obama, Biden or for that matter most politicians. The USA economy is the strongest in 50 years so if his actions are stupid, we need more stupid business people running the government rather than career politicians who believe that waiving their pens somehow is like the Wizard of Oz.

I love how the Anti-Trump people insert his name in every action the USA takes that they view as stirring up dislike for him. DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT THE PRESIDENT OF THE USA HAS HIS FINGER ON THE PULSE OF WHICH CHEMICALS THAILAND IS BANNING? Some bureaucrat in the USA is responsible for trade and is the one making the decision. In regards to the Pesticides and Herbicides, if they are harmful they should be banned. However remember that decreased crop production has its impact also. Additionally, I can recall when Saccharin was banned because it produced cancer. The researchers gave the mice an inordinate amount of saccharin to produce the correlation between it and cancer.

In life it is the things that people have in common that endear them to each other, not their differences. Personally, I don't care what consenting adults wish to engage in and I do resent their constant push in the media, pressuring the business community to indoctrinate the public on their "preference". I never hear a heterosexual beat his/her chest to proclaim their 'identity" by which set of sexual organs they wish to copulate with. Why the LGTB community seems so insistent to focus who they are as a person based on their sexual preference is beyond me. The normal self identity is by the person's occupation, parenthood, philanthropic activities etc. For the LGTB community I suggest that it is fine you have a sexual preference and are proud of it. However, like your private parts they are termed "private" for a reason and when you take them out in public and wave them around it is obscene and when the group demands that their beliefs be shoved in peoples faces demanding that the public "love" their lifestyle too, it has gone too far. What is next, ads featuring groups for those who prefer "group sex" or ads for swingers?

I'd have to agree. If you look at all the scumbag dictators in the history of the world, nearly all are men. And the scumbag dictators in the modern world? All men. Obviously, not all men are evil. But the evil leaders are almost always men.
Berkshire that is hardly a fair statement. Its like saying that throughout history most of the evil lumberjacks have been men. Given that throughout history the vast majority of world leaders have been men obviously most of the evil leaders have been men. It is equally true that most of the virtuous leaders have been men.

Consensus does not equate to truth.
Tippaporn you are correct. I can recall when scientists were writing about the population explosion and the fact that we would not have enough to eat. In 1991 only 60% of scientists thought there was even any global warming at all. However, lets assume for the sake of argument that yes we have global warming and yes it is man made. First, is that bad? With warmer temperatures more land suddenly becomes available to farm. Now, lets assume it is bad. What can be done about it? Even if all of Europe and North America abides by strict carbon emission controls, the developing world heading by China and India is still increasing its carbon output. Any decrease in U.S. carbon production in one year, is thought to be undone by an increase in carbon output by China in one day. I can tell you, in the USA they have all but shut down the coal generation facilities, yet coal production increases annually. Why? Because the USA sells the coal to China. Which makes more sense? Having increased production of goods by the USA and Europe with strict pollution controls, or limiting the West's production and then allowing India, China, and Vietnam to produce the product.

StevenL thats ok the fact you don't like the scientific consensus of documented interglacial and glacial periods which are well documented shows you certainly don't like the truth because it varies with your preconceived bias.

3 minutes ago, stevenl said:Why do you reach that conclusion over that of the scientific consensus of manmade global warming? Something to do with an inconvenient truth maybe?
StevenL it is documented that there have been 11 interglacial periods Mr. "inconvenient truth" Gore and many others have a financial interest in selling global warming. Gore personally pocketed millions selling carbon credits front running on the "green energy" legislation that he prodded. One way or another, even if human carbon burning contributes, we can't do anything to limit the major polluters which are China and India. Further unless you know a way to stop volcanoes which emit far more particulate or control the orbit of the earth around the sun, you will not be able to stop global warming or for that matter global cooling.

For billions of years the earth has gone through glacial and interglacial periods. We are in an interglacial period at the present time. There are several causes most pronounced is that the orbit around the sun is not precisely the same. At times the earth loops further out and it is colder. Also the earth's revolution is like a top and it bobbles. The more it bobbles over centuries, the closer the poles move towards the sun and they get warmer. So this current interglacial period is not anything the earth has not seen before and when the next glacier period hits it will be far far more devastating than any warming.

Well I went to Jomten immigration. They said if I wanted another single entry I would have to get it in Phuket. Some have expressed concern that Phuket would even issue since I did not get my O visa there. I said void it and give me a multi-entry. Unlike one other post to this thread, they did not credit me for the 1,000 thb towards the multi entry. Live and learn. But I sure did not want to get to Phuket and find out there were problems getting the re-entry and it would have likely been a hassle to get to the immigration area anyway.

Well, it's not a mystery that the richest economies (not countries, economies) have been destabilising weaker countries for centuries for their own gain.
No surprise we see lots of immigrants fleeing their countries looking for a better life, in the end any kind of conflict is beneficial to the ones pulling the strings.
Amazing, blame other countries for their plight. The reality is that countries like Japan have zero natural resources, little land but through hard work, investment, limited population growth, and education have the worlds 4th largest economy. By contrast Africa with the planets most abundant source of natural resources and vast land is the poorest in the world and their plight is the result of the economic powers destabilizing Africa.
Taking in indigent migrants is akin to giving milk to stray kittens. You soon will have more stray kittens at your door also begging to be taken care of. Remember, out of well intentioned but misguided compassion putting one too many people in a life boat and everyone drowns.- 1

If you’re planning to leave the ship in Phuket they will use the Re-entry Permit. It would be best to go to Pattaya immigration and get the single entry permit cancelled and buy a multiple entry Re-entry Permit.
eviajero is it even possible to cancel the single entry?

If you are required to clear immigration while in Phuket you would need to use your re-entry permit.
You might not be able to get a new re-entry permit while in Phuket unless that is where you applied for your extension of stay if you are on one.
Ubonjoe,
Thanks for the reply. I got my retirement O Visa in Pattaya.

3BB did it again! You get more speed for the price you pay.
They also have 790 baht 1000/100 fiber with My Swop (Speed swap) feature which requires 24 month contract and is direct rival of True gigetex fiber.
590 baht = 200/200
700 baht = 400/400
900 baht = 500/500
1200 baht = 700/700
790 baht = 1000/100

Yes it is a great deal however remember your television will max out at 100 MBPS so any faster does not do you any good. Also, unless your computer is capable of those speeds and is hardwired again the additional speed does you no good. If your router or computer is incapable of those speeds then they will not do you any good.

I have a retirement visa. I am going on a cruise and have a single re-entry for my return flight following the cruise. The cruise makes a stop in Phuket. Do you go through immigration and would that void my re-entry and therefore void my retirement visa when I eventually fly back to Thailand following the cruise? The cruise starts in Dubai and ends in Singapore
Ubonjoe, you are the most well versed on immigration related issues. Do you have any thoughts on this?

cyclone6 FBAR is triggered if you have more than $10,000 in a foreign bank account. So if you transferred $65,000 thb monthly or about $2.200 at current exchange rate and spent enough to keep the balance below $10,000 USD you would not have to file the FBAR.

On rare occasion I find a one way ticket that is as cheap as half of a round trip ticket. However, I always get questioned on having a return ticket out of Thailand even though I have a retirement visa. I would think you would need to have some sort of ticket to exit Thailand to get your airline at your origin let you on the plane. You could book a second one way one day before departure and cancel it within the 24 hours if your airline has that 24 hour policy. You could also purchase a cheap ticket to perhaps Vietnam and just throw it away but you would still be left with having to purchase that second one way ticket back home which probably would be expensive.
Transferwise for Monthly Pension Transfers - Does Immigration Accept Them?
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

john5344y1001 I believe I just put in monthly living expenses. I did not realize there was even an option for long term stay in Thailand. The PDF's that you mention are those on the transferwise site or are they in emails received from Transferwise? I have my Bangkok account set up on transferwise and it is the only account I transfer to.
