  1. I am taking my cat on Thai airways from BKK to Chiang Mai this week.

I am a little apprehensive about the journey. My cat is blind and does not take kindly to being put in a travel box with constant meowing. Although TG have told me that i could take her on board i really think this would be a mistake as she makes so much noise. I have decided to put her in the cargo area but i have to admit about being very worried about her care on board. I love Thailand however Thai people generally dont seem to care for animals in the same way as farangs do.

I would be grateful if anyone who has done this journey with a cat could report their experiences of TG. Can you put my mind at rest?

    Thank you for any advice.

  2. For reliability Loxinfo has been hailed earlier, the tradeoff being that they charge more for their service, and throttle BitTorrent during daytime.

3-4 years ago True cable modem internet would have been my recommendation, but it seems they now have too many subscribers to deliver anything better than the regular ADSL services.

Not sure if this info is still valid - are there any Loxinfo users in the forum?

The others seem to be a bit hit and miss - all of them have downperiods now and then, and the speed can get very slow at times.

Thank you for the replies. I will check out the suggested companies.

  3. I have just moved to Chiang Mai and am looking to set up my ADSL connection.

I would be grateful if you could suggest the best service/company. I am not concerned with price, only with reliability and speed.

I have a TOT telephone line.

    Thanks.

    Any help appreciated.

    Many thanks.

  5. I am moving to CM shortly from BKK and looking to install my 7.5ft satellite dish in my new home.

I would be grateful if someone could recommend a good satellite tv dealer to do this for me.

    Thanks.

Khun Inchan, mostly an electrician by profession, but prefers doing satellite installations and A/C installation/servicing. but you need to have someone who can speak thai.

  6. yes do post a pic...I will try to ask around.....

Martin...when do you leave the country?

Hello again. Appologies for the lack of replies for the last few weeks i was waiting until my circumstances became clearer.

I still plan to leave Thailand in the next few weeks and I unfortunately have still not found a home for my cat. It really is a huge worry for me as i have become so attached to her.

Once again i would like to appeal for a kind animal lover to help me out. Just to remind everyone that she is unfortunately blind which means that she cannot go outside. She is fully litter trained however and manages to get around fine. She just needs a little extra love and attention thats all. She has been spayed and has had all her vaccinations.

If you can help or know anyone who can then please send me a message.

    Many thanks.

  7. I would be grateful if someone could recommend some removal companies to transport my things from BKK to Chiang Mai.

I have an apartment full of furniture, kitchen appliances and personal items. The quotes i have had so far have been around 40k baht which i think is fairly expensive.

If anyone could recommend a good company which is also economical i would appreciate it.

    Thanks.

  8. Hi.

Im looking to rent an unfurnished house in Chiang Mai for around 20k pcm or less. If anyone could recommend some decent agents to assist in my search and also provide some local knowledge regarding the best location i would be very grateful.

    Many thanks.

  9. Sorry for not returning to this sooner but i have been out of town for a few days.

Thank you everyone for your contribution to my thread. I have just had her speyed and her vaccinations are totally upto date. I am a huge animal lover and it will break my heart to give her away but if i can find a really loving home i will feel so much better about it.

I will try to take a photo and add it in a few days.

    Many thanks for reading.

  10. Thank you for your comments swain.

I dont know if you are familiar with UK quarantine regulations but they are extremely strict, unpleasant for the cat and very, very expensive. She would have to stay in a cage for 6 months and with her being unable to see i just couldnt possibly put her thru that. My time in the UK might also be short and may be moved to another country after a few months. I just want her to be happy and settled somewhere even though it breaks my heart to leave her.

It really would be the best if i could find a loving home for her here. If anyone can help please contact me.

    Many thanks.

  11. Hi

Around 8 months ago i rescued a kitten from outside Pantip plaza. She was in bad shape and extremely confused and frightened. I later found out she was blind and as a result cannot go outside. This doesnt hamper her too much and she is fully litter trained. I have come to love her very much but unfortunately i need to return to the UK.

I am going out of my mind with worry as to what i can do. I can't take her with me as it is a long stint in quarantine which is just too cruel and unfair. I also can't bear the thought of leaving her with someone who is not able to give her the special attention she deserves. She currently lives alone with me in my sukhumvit apartment and has had all her vaccinations.

Im pleading with any animal lovers out there. If you are a cat lover then i really need to find a home for her. If you can take care of her or know another animal lover who can please can you get in touch. Im willing to deliver her to any location in Thailand. It would be better if you didnt have a cat already as she has been living alone since the first month of her life however if your current cat has a placid temperament then it might be ok.

    Thank you for your help.

  12. Im looking for a reasonably priced townhouse in Bangkok. It should be possible to find what im looking for around 15,000 baht or less as before i had a fantastic, brand new townhome in the On Nut area for half of this amount.

Im looking for a minimum of 2 bedrooms and unfurnished.

I am quite flexible as to the location as long as it is near to a BTS or MRT station. I prefer not to take any long walks to the local convenience store or to get a taxi for example.

If you have anything which might be suitable please PM me.

    Thanks.

  13. There is a possibility i will be leaving Thailand.

I have a 1 year old blind cat who i love very much. As i don't know any cat lovers living in Bangkok that could care for her i am considering flying her to my parents home in Portugal.

I would like to ask people who have done a similar thing a few questions.

    1. How much will it cost approximately?

    2. Which is the best airline to transport animals with?

    3. Is it possible to fly her unacompanied?

    4. Would she need to spend any time in quarantine? She has all her vaccinations up to date.

I would be grateful for any help you could offer.

    Thank you.
