  1. Shut both 'colleges' down NOW. Today. Permanently.

Until there is some semblence of accountability for your actions, nothing will EVER change in this country.

Just like Yingluck skipping the NLA meeting today... ZERO accountability.

I fail to see the comparison of Yingluck missing a meeting to the murder of two students. You don't even know why she did not go and whatever the reason it's hardly the same as murder, silly comment.

  2. I only came back for the music, apart from that there is nothing here except a modern day feudal social system, political oppression, corruption, stupidity, a broken education system, xenophobia and a lack of responsibility and accountability. It's really a third world dump with a veneer of western modernity on the top. Oh yes there is the 'cheap' sex and Thai food, yuk.

you came back for the Music?? Well try the Philippines who have great music, and they sing in English !!

What good PI music is there?

  3. Prime Minister General Prayut said, “Thainess represents the unique character of Thailand, which embodies centuries-old cultural values and social practices.

The issue is that many foreigners that live or have indeed visited Thailand have a completely different view of Thainess; this is associated with:

    1. Double or more pricing

    2. Scams

    3. Jet Ski rip offs

    4. Intimidation from touts

    5. Shakedowns by the police

    6. Racism and discrimination

    7. Rampant corruption

    8. Violence

    9. Rip off taxis

    10. Human Trafficking

I could go on but you get the idea. All of these and more are relatively easy to fix and yet this government along with all past (and probably future) won't address the core issues because doing so prevents them from stuffing money in their pockets.

Frankly Thailand doesn't deserve to have a tourist industry and why expats remain in Thailand and put up with the abuse perplexes me.

This campaign is little more than window dressing that attempts to cover up all the foul mess but that's Thainess; put a band aid on a severed limb and hope that no one will notice that the patient is bleeding to death.

Good luck with yet another worthless campaign that costs millions instead of addressing the core issues that would certainly revive the tourist industry and indeed make it thrive.

Since the OP is related to international tourists, not long term temporary residents of Thailand, I would suggest 99.999% of international tourists do not get involved in your list of 10.

    The rest get killed here

  4. "... and ‘the wai’ or the Thai greeting - a show of respect, as well as the friendly nature of the Thai people ..."

I had to think long and hard, the last time I was "wai'd" by any Thai was more than 12 months ago.

Couple of weeks ago i watched a (new?) senior falang manager walking through the lobby of a 4 star hotel in BKK. He was waiing all the staff from the cleaner to the receptionists. Most just ignored him!

  5. How is the Muslim community in Australia responsible for this?

Yet again, I never said they were.

However, as the Muslim Community are so good at shouting that their religion is one of peace, tolerance and love. It would be nice to see them take the lead on it.

They are taking a lead, in complaining, demanding apologies and whining that we should respect their fascist ideology and the not depict the murdering pedophile prophet.

  6. Not just true as cable has been worse, why is the picture quality of broadcast here so poor, is it money or capability? Last night watched Downtown Abbey on Now channel via true and it was barely watchable. The Thai HD channels that 3 and 7 have are not much better than the normal ones. On a trip home to the UK I was amazed at the quality of HD on a good tv these days, so what are Thais doing differently? No surprise they never show Thai broadcasts on TV's for sale in shops, nobody would buy them if they did, it's always specially made very HD material.

  7. When I do this the Download speed is just 1.5Mb ( 191kb's)

    That really sucks sad.png

That sounds like the True we have. Get them round ns they test to their own server- look no problem! Sometimes we get less than 1 meg in the evenings

  8. I saw an old yellow and black taxi forlornly decaying in a garden/bit of roadside wasteland the other day near Mor Chit.

I'd not seen one of them old things for donkey's years. Was probably in better nick now than when it was in service.....

These 25-30 year old taxis still run from some big C's. But they are not allowed to pick up on the roads, they just take shoppers home. They have the same meters, quite good fun to ride in one.

  9. I don't think JK misses the point.... Islam ius not the problem fanaticism or extremism is.

To apply Godwin's Law, would the haulocast better be described as "Christian massacre of Jews"?

If Islam is not the problem why do Islamists and terrorists quote passages from the Koran to justify themselves. When did they ever commit an atrocity not in the names of Allah and the prophet?

  10. This is where you buy a broom here & this type of broom works wink.png

    tpt-thailand-bangkok-broom-cart-2-2.jpg

Utter crap the lot of it. What we need here are proper western brushes. House fan like things just put more rubbish on the floor than they sweep up as the prongs come out. Yard witch like brushes are pretty hopeless even when you trim them down. The chicken stick duster, again bits come off them all the time and they make you sneeze. Real yard brush is what i'm after, never seen one anywhere. Don't buy off guys in the pic, more expensive than anywhere.

  11. Here is some profound truthiness directly relating to the POV of Murdoch. Yes Islamic Jihadist terrorism IS directly related to the religion of Islam and modern Muslims. Some leaders Muslim and otherwise get that, and some don't. This is really worth a listen. Don't ignore it just because it is from Israel.

Melanie Philips is a UK journalist who has a very good insight into the problem, just spot on here. She wrote a book called Londonistan years ago about the growing threat of Jhadists in the UK, ignored by politicians just as it is today. Wise woman, no doubt a 'bigot' though to some!

  12. why do shops always have assistants to 'help' you in the wine and beer departments. They don't know the difference between a malt and a blended, but they always know 'cannot buy now' times. usually they are a pest and follow you around the shelves.

  13. Pathetic that you both want to yet again drag this important thread off topic so you can have your childish digs at me!

Ulysses G even claims to know more about the Northern Ireland peace process than those actually involved; like Peter Brooke, the Northern Ireland Secretary when the informal, and secret at the time, talks began between the UK government and Sinn Fein/IRA in 1990! (See here)

Still, I suppose I should be flattered that you not only pay so much attention to my posts, but also have no other way of refuting them!

It is not necessary to refute facts which you make up and when you mis quote famous writers, merely to point out that you are incorrect. Some humility on your part when it comes to this might mean you do not attract so much attention.

Except you don't correct the facts I post; you simply say they are wrong and offer no evidence with which to support your statement.

When I make a mistake, and I do, I know I am not perfect, I admit it and accept it. But you and your mate ignore those corrections and simply concentrate on the original error.

Which is rather hypocritical of you considering that you both post many statements claiming them to be true, rarely provide evidence to back up that claim and never acknowledge you were wrong when corrected.

Enough of you and your childish slanders; they have never been of interest to anyone else and are to me no longer.

I, for one, will let this thread get back on topic. Though no doubt you or your mate will want the last word; you can have it.

When have you ever admitted a mistake, have a link for that 'fact' as well? On the Bible quotes you claimed about wife beating and then could not produce as they did not exist you never admitted a mistake. What you did was try to wriggle out of it and claimed people could not prove the Bible was not against wife beating, clearly a nonsense argument. It's impossible to correct facts when the facts you produce never existed in the first place. Glad to hear you will let the thread get back on topic.

  14. "These people are brainwashed from birth. There is no way to change something so ingrained. IMHO they should all be hooked up to a lie detector then asked "Do you think it is right that someone should be killed for drawing the prophet Mohammed". If their answer is yes, they should be deported to keep goats for the rest of their lives in a Muslim country.

I think the % of people who would say 'Yes' to the above question would be quite a shock."

85% of British Muslims think insulting their (pedophile with a penchant for merciless killing) non-prophet should be a crime. Yet the obnoxious liberals insist that objections to this are founded in bigotry and racism.

One of the less talked about tenets of faith of Islam is the principle of ghiba. Ghiba stated simply means that if you say or do something against another, and that other is offended by what you have said you have committed ghiba. It does not matter whether what was said is true or not -- we are not talking about slander -- it only matters whether the other is offended by your actions. If what you say is offensive to the other party, you have committed the sin of ghiba, which can not be forgiven by the Prophet or even by Allah. Only the offended party can forgive this grave sin.

If this sounds just like Thailand's libel laws, you are right. If you offend the Prophet, you have by extension offended every Muslim on the face of the earth. You can only be redeemed from this horrible sin, by the personal forgiveness of every Muslim.

Each and every devout Muslim believes in this principle or they are not a devout Muslim.

thanks for enlightening us who is and who is not a devout Muslim wai2.gif

I don't see any cause for pointless sarcasm. The post was interesting, had you heard of Ghiba before then? I had not so I leaned something from the post. There is certainly a lot of it on here.

  15. h.

note: the last "witches" were tortured and burned on the stake in the name of Christianity even 300 years later and a 30 year long war between Christian "Sunnis" and "Shias" which devastated Europe happened around the same time.

    next!

Wrong the last witches and 'wizzards' were tortured and beheaded in Saudi Arabia quite recently, or does beheading not count?

Saudi man executed for 'witchcraft and sorcery'

Human rights groups have repeatedly condemned executions for witchcraft in Saudi Arabia.

  16. It's interesting to note that in France with a 10% Muslim population, 70+ % of the prison population are from a Muslim heritage.

I wonder how does this shocking figure compare to other immigrant groups from other religions who have had the same disadvantages? I think it's another sign that Muslims cannot integrate into western society. What are they in prison for apart from drugs, rape and theft?
