Hmmm....
It's half the battle ecause they would have at least begun to look into it. It's the people who simply blame everyone else for their problems/thoughts/behaviour that do the most damage, because they don't even get to the step of admitting they have a problem at all.
Even same diagnoses, there is a whole specter of differences how it show on each individual. Some never shows any indication there is any wrong at all, but the individual is aware something is wrong, and then you have the other side of the specter where the individual shows clearly there is problems, but still the self awerness have yet not kicked in.

To admit you have a problem is the least problem, the biggest problem for many, is that they struggle to know whats going on for a lifetime before got the help needed to be screened propely and get a name, a diagnose so they can put words to it and also start educating themselves.

LOL. My faith requires no financial expenditure of any kind. nature is all around as I don't live in a city, and sunsets are free for the looking.
Methinks you are confusing faith and religion, though perhaps you think spiritualism and faith are different.
It's great in the countryside as I can see all the stars on a dark night. Perhaps city dwellers lose faith because they can't see the glory of a starlit sky, or a perfect sunset.
Omg, you have no idea where I have been born, places I have lived, and places I have travelled, and you forget everything we have discussed before. I believe nature is god, we, mother earth, galaxy, universe(s) are one. I also believe we our self create our own universe for us self where we learn to give us self rewards out from the chemical factory we have in our brain, some have better talent to do so, but everyone make their own happiness from what they have and how they learned to use it. So from there you get the picture of your own reality that give you taste, smell, senses, eye for beauty, etc to stimulate your world and your reality.
For some that is to work hard, and earn money, take care of family to something totally different for the next one. Some follow others because they see their happiness and success, but they really do not succeed in the same way, do not feel, do not see the reward, and then you have the misury and jealusy. So many levels, but yes, nature is god, and from there you have to create your own reality based on your own talents and your own experiences.
Love, love for a god is just one destination on the journey

LOL. There is a multi gazillion $ industry devoted to romantic love-magazines, books, movies, tv shows, flowers, gifts, diamond rings, engagement gifts, night before wedding parties, expensive weddings, gold rings, etc etc etc.
So, tell me it's a myth that people don't believe, if you can!
Teh same goes for religion and spiritualism. A multi gazillion industry
and the same people believe love is chemistry where maybe the beste mating partner for you is the one you get attracted to and call love. Religion, love, extreme sports, extreme scills where you have public to show off in front off, learning something new, music, drugs, fighting, you name it, give the same more or less respons to your reward system. Of course some is more attracted to religion and others drugs, sex and rockn roll.
I guess this was discussed 300 pages back

There is also no "evidence" that romantic love exists, yet most believe in it.
Seems strange to me that people think that something that IMO at basis is a means of getting laid is something pure and noble, yet deny the existence of a creator, when there is plenty of evidence for those that choose to look at it. It's not like it's hidden.
Tell us what love is? People look at love exactly the same way as they look at god or not? Chemical reaction, a hallucination, what is love? Is love something you creat yourself inside you, or is it an outside in experience? The answer is within yourself, and not anything other can answer for you. You can be told, you can be teached, and you can choose to listen, but it is completely up to you how you decide to make your truth, and make your answers based on your experiences. I can not answer you, but I can tell you what I believe, and i can tell you my experiences, and that is what the whole discussion in this thread have been about. Nothing more nothing else and nothing less

I have no interest to speak with people who claim they had covid, and at same time talk about conspirecy theories.

When I worked in a position of power, for every disastrous world event the discussion would invariably be 'conspiracy or cock-up'?
In the end the answer was always cock-up!
Well, the humans cock-up and interact with the wild animals on so many levels, that in a country like china, there is a good base for viruses like we see no, is of no doubt.
Im just shocked there is not more of it especially travelled china on the country side and also visited Chongqing markeds. Out in in the villages I saw monkeys on the menu as well many other species I never thought existed. All mixed together. Slaughtered in front of you as well before take away or served around the corner restaurant

"I guess I've (and wife - Thai Issan) have decided to move to Thai Isaan and farm and build a house in a handful of years. She has land there given by her father. We met 5 years ago, Married 2.5 years ago, living in USA. I've been to Thailand 4 times, 4 weeks at a time. 2 weeks this coming April.
Looking forward to the farming life of fast-growing stuff, our own chickens/ducks. Selling fish to local shops. Just slap a house down, small pool, live in a peaceful, quiet area, live a different life."
Haha, you are living in a dream world, that ain't gonna happen like you dream.
I would do a few more trips to Thailand/Issan before you take the plunge.
Every place I have been goingin Thailand I have been bored after awhile, including Isan, but the other destinations taste alot better after a few weeks or months in Isan. The sky is brighter, the sea is clearer and the food taste better. Its all about adding contrasts to life

I found a written law falangs could bring with them if they where denied yellow book, but can not find it again now. It was in thai and english clearly stating they could not deny, hesitate or take money to make it done.
Anyone have the link? Or understand what description I am talking about? I first found it after I got my yellow book, and <deleted> of that skunk of a amphur worker, who first said can not, and then whisper to my gf it can be done if you only ,,,,,,,

I had to pay a 1000Bt bribe to be sure of getting my yellow book at my Ampur, my wife arranged it with someone Ampur employee, not sure if it was the boss or not.
I also had to pay, but I was on tourist visa at the time, and he also wrongly said because of us not being married.
I have seen the law due to the yellow book, and there is no way they can deny or bribe you if you have the right visa, but they can keep on giving you trouble with having you run back and forth to pick papers and wait a month or two to get the book. We got the book in 30 min.

This is not a guy who has just got off the plane he has done several 4 week stints so will have a pretty good idea regarding location, mosquitos, family, he has already commented on the heat........any other redundant negative advice you care to throw out?
One thing for sure, live there before you invest and put money in to something you will regret, that must be nr one rule. We started living with her family, and slowly I not only invested time I also start invest in her parents house. Upgraded her room with double walls and roof and aircon, then the bathroom, the kitchen, and finely insulated roof outside so It was possible to sit ounder roof when the sun cooking above our heads. After living there weeks and months between travelling and also had a appartment in Hua Hin, I was ready to do next step slowly with a farmland 3 and half rai, and a small bungalow, and the year after covid came and we decided to move out from Hua Hin. So the best advise he already got, go slow and do not invest anything in the beginning. I believe he got several advises like even in the first pages.
Over many years you see those who coming here in love, exited and do not have time to build a relationship with the girl or her family before they burn their money in one go, and as everyone knows, what you think your budget is from beginning, you can easy double or triple.

I would say the biggest problem most have, they do not understand the simple rule, what you can not hold in your hand, you have to let go. The same goes for investment in Thailand that involves a girl and a family, or you are not a hardworking man, who understand what you invest in, and think the money going to work for you, as long you are paying. Everything you invest in Thailand you have to realize can be gone tomorow.
Investments as follow
feelings And time as money
And that also involve real estate projects that is either on the plan, just started or also finished and been well run for many years.
How many do you know who invested in a project estimated to be a good investment turned out to be either a flop, or you just cant sell it. If you manage to finely sell it, you already lost time and money

Hey, that's what I do, but as I'm paying them a wage they can leave at any time.
Plenty more to 'pick' from, if the current woman leaves.
Most of the problems foreign men have in Thailand is their own fault for trying to illegally buy land using a Thai woman as a proxy. If you stick to the law, you won't have a problem.

I was under the impression that a forum (And afaik thai visa is a forum) was a place where you can exchange views on a topic, sometimes you agree with someone else, and sometimes you don't, you can have positive views or negative, it depends of a lot of things, your experience, your mood at the moment, the weather and so on
If you want read only people with only positives comments on Thai ladies and Issan maybe start a blog where you can moderate the comments in the way you prefer?
The fact that your Thai lady is ''good'' is pure luck, it's like a lotery with the women in general (And Thai are not an exception to the rule) you can never be sure of nothing. you paid for all the tickets but only few of them are winners
you just have to hope for the best and be prepared for the worst.
"The fact that your falang man is ''good'' is pure luck, it's like a lottery with the men in general"
I know there is many men with good intentions out there, but I will say the same that goes for women also goes for those men who come to Thailand to find happiness.
The most common wrong some do, is that they just think they can just point and pick a woman, and she should happy that someone like them want her, and willing to take care of her. In most cases thats where the problem starts, and it comes with a price

You are totaly right, nobody should put more money than they are willing to walk away....
Then you have the dreamers, the idealists, the ones thinking more
with their little head rather than the big head, the ones thinking they are better and more clever than anyone else, the ones thinking they can do it when in fact they can't,, and so on
And at a moment, usualy when everything is paid (Land, house, car, gold and so on) all these people realize that if all is going south, they have usualy 2 options:
1\staying here whatever they have to endure because they are financialy trapped
2\ walk away and lost all of their ''investissements'', ending broke back in their country of origin or in a 2000 bahts\month fan room in Bkk or Pattaya, spending half of their time on a barstool in a love story with their beer trying to forget the past and the other half of the time on Thai visa trying to avoid to the others to do the same mistakes they have done
Nothing to do with telling to the others what they have to do or not
The goal is just to give them a friendly warning, having some past experience in the matter, after that it's ''up to you'' and yes, fortunately there are also a lot of nice story with a happy ending, like your story is
imo it's always good to have a balanced view on a topic
not only the pink or the black side
Have you so far had one who said you are right and stopped them from where they where heading? This is what I find so fascinating with all this knownledge shared even from me to others in best meaning, never really stopp others from doing the mistakes they are going to do. Maybe make them think twice, and maybe do things a bit different, but in overall, nothing will change the fate they are going to meet, or we are going to meet.
Everyone have do their own mistakes and learn from it like kids. Im still not sure I have done the right thing, but I will know in 10 years right? So far so good ????
but as said, I have lived a life before I ended up here, so I know and used to remote places, and also born on a farm, thrive with growing vegetables and fruit, have animalse around me, and the freedom of landscape around me where I can rest my eyes. This is where my gf is most happy, and that influence me as well, and that is important to me that she thrive and are happy. Another thing I never liked tourist places except from visiting the for a few days and then travel to next destination. Up in Isan surrounded by the mountains I can relax and enjoy day by day just staying at the farm, and that have been very important the last year, enough space around me to feel free. The best thing, nobody complain about loud music either ????
But not for everyone for sure.

I started out in Isaan bought 7 rai built a nice home, lived there part time as I was working. The only way it would have been an OK retirement home would be to further enclose entire home with a wall and locked gates. No English program schools around locally.
I'm one of the lucky ones who had money to relocate and I chose to live by the sea with a good school 5 min away, have an upscale gym 10 min away, movie theaters with english movies in pattaya. Here it's just us and not an entire village stopping by whenever they feel, no MIL and her entourage, no family drama in my sight. I'm happy to buy plane tickets for old lady and daughter to visit Isaan occasionally. Now I'm going out to my front yard, crack open a beer next to my waterfall and relax without anybody stopping by.
One thing I have to give you right, and that is if I had kids with my gf, I would never ever lived countryside, and Im not sure I would even live in Thailand with them.
When it comes to Neighbours I could not live in the middle of a thai neighbourhood either in a village, and therefor we have our own plot of 3 1/2 rai standing alone bordering to the national park, and rice fields. So given your experience, I will give you right, I could not live like that either, and especially if having kids.

Even you know there is problems or you experience hard times, there is no tools to work with if you do not know exactly what is your diognose, and trust me, I knew from I was 12 I was different, but until I was 47 I could not put words to it. But finely one dr took me seriously. Even you know you experience difficulties, it doesnt stop your reaction pattern, and other things that leads you out on the difficult path. To one surten group of people you can be the best, but those who trigger your bad emotions, you can be their worst enemy. As said, it is a whole specter to cover when you struggle with something serious as bipolar. I was lucky to have my extreme sport to keep me humble, and also creative that took me places, and kept my spirit up. Afther awhile it get to be a lifestyle, on and off, seek and hide.
