I started out in Isaan bought 7 rai built a nice home, lived there part time as I was working. The only way it would have been an OK retirement home would be to further enclose entire home with a wall and locked gates. No English program schools around locally.
I'm one of the lucky ones who had money to relocate and I chose to live by the sea with a good school 5 min away, have an upscale gym 10 min away, movie theaters with english movies in pattaya. Here it's just us and not an entire village stopping by whenever they feel, no MIL and her entourage, no family drama in my sight. I'm happy to buy plane tickets for old lady and daughter to visit Isaan occasionally. Now I'm going out to my front yard, crack open a beer next to my waterfall and relax without anybody stopping by.
One thing I have to give you right, and that is if I had kids with my gf, I would never ever lived countryside, and Im not sure I would even live in Thailand with them.
When it comes to Neighbours I could not live in the middle of a thai neighbourhood either in a village, and therefor we have our own plot of 3 1/2 rai standing alone bordering to the national park, and rice fields. So given your experience, I will give you right, I could not live like that either, and especially if having kids.

The main difference between these 2 categories being
the first own the land they buy
and the others just provide the money, the land
they pay for is not in their name.
Not a big deal for few lucky one
(And you are probably one of them)
but a disaster in the making for the others
Why you talking about disaster? One one should put in more money than they are willing to walk away from, right?
Everywhere you walk in thailand you see disasters of human life that hoped and dreamt about something else! But thats part of it, some find it, and some do not, and some get over it, and some others dont.
And some end up here telling everyone else what to do and not to do

You can have that same countryside 30 min east of Pattaya. You and most all are where they are because they followed the little lady. You don't have to go to Isaan to have peace and quiet.
Some people will never get it, because they never experienced it. Yes, of course we would never found the place without help from our little lady as you so nicely put it. Further explanation should not be necessery.
Family is important to the little girls as you call them, and not all family or every girl need to manipulate you to go back with them. It was an easy choice when covid arrived to move out of the city, and so far not regret it. Not every close family relation is bad, and for us rather very helpful to take care of her land and our animals when we travel.
Also built myself an nice gym. The freedom lays in the space you can affort away from everything compare to 30 min away from Pattaya and Hua Hin as an example. Cant beat that feeling, but as said not everyone can understand it, and the same security vise when we travel.

Fair play to you if you enjoy that life. But wouldn't you say that you're in the minority?
You meet two type of people who have moved out on the country side. Those who have given up and do not do nothing, and they who actually create a daily life for themselves. The same type you also find in the more populated tourist areas. For an healthy active man, sitting still and do nothing is not a life, and if you have resources, you also manage to escape if you do not like that kind of lifestyle. I moved to country side because of covid, and have so far not regret once. As told before, when you get bored country side, you load up the bikes, and leave for a weekend, week or weeks.
Boring village life during covid

Sinovac is being used just as a temporary measure until AZ is available. Ukess you live at ground zero of a hot spot you are unlikely to be offered Sinovac,
As to getting vaccinated with different vaccines, the simple answer is no one knows because it has not been researched. There is a trial underway now in the UK on a regime where one dose is AZ and the other Pfizer but it will be some time before results are available. And that is not the same as getting a full course of one vaccine followed by a full course of another. They haven't called the trial off so presumably there are no obvious early adverse effects being seen, is the most that can be said, and again that is with just 1 injection of each of 2 different vaccines.
I am in this dilemma myself though with a twist in that I am going to the US in July. I can get Pfizer or Moderna in US easily enough but may also have the chance to get AZ in Thailand first (though probably only the first injection not the second unless things start up sooner than I think they will).
I would rather have Pfizer or Moderna. But I would also rather be immunized before getting on a long international flight. And I will face recommended self-isolation and other restrictions in the US if I arrive unvaccinated.
I have researched this up and down, bottom line is no on knows/can say the effect of getting 2 different vaccine series. However it is known that it is safe to be vaccinated if you have already had COVID which leads me to think that it is probably also be safe to be vaccinated with a different vaccine months after getting vaccinated with another. But that is just my own best guess, it is not hard fact and if I do this (as I may) it will be at my own risk.
In Norway they use a different vaccine for second jab now due to the stopped using the Astra Zenica 11. march My sister is health care worker, and got the Astra Zenica for first, and now next week she will get the Pfeizer.
Did not find a english version

Thai lady lures farang out to the farm, the classic tale. Reminded me of this, though in reverse. Go on YT and look up "Sara" by Starship. You may remember the classic 80's tune. The video goes like this:
1) Opening scene is of a farmhouse. A young lady angrily storms out of it, hops in her car, and leaves her man in the dust, on the long road back to civilization.
2) We then begin to learn through flashbacks, that the young man had inherited the farm from grandpa, and lured his city chick out there to try the farm life.
3) Initially it looked good, with drunken parties and dancing. We also see flashbacks to grandpa's happy childhood on the farm.
4) Then turmoil struck, in both pasts. Grandpa's mom too left the farm for some reason, down the same road. Then a tornado comes and rips through it. Interspersed with this, in the near past, the young couple's parties aren't so fun anymore.
5) Finally, the young man keeps staring down the road, reflecting on both pasts. The moral I guess is, while things turned out bad, it's nothing new really and could've been worse, and he and grandpa must both move on.
It for sure true for some, but not everybody, and if you believe so, you got quite a narrow mind if you can not see any advantages of living on the country side.

From what I gather it doesn't matter who holds the title deeds.
They can claim the deeds have been misplaced and get another set and sell anyway.
Does Kaifaak apply to Foreigners?
My understanding is that foreigners cannot own land. Only a 30 year lease which I'm trying to find details on to prevent me from being screwed over
If someone wants to screw you over, you have a small chance to avoid it when the money is placed. And if the chance is even fair, it can takes years to get settlement as we all have heard. I just say good luck and hope he keeps us updated how it goes.
Even lease have its faults I have heard.

So many people claim or believe they have already had Covid-19.... While the Antibody test isn’t considered a highly accurate test, it would be interesting to actually know results and see whether or not Covid-19 has already swept through society / Thailand.
That said, the variants of concern are of concern because it is believed they have:
- The ability to evade natural immunity (e.g., causing reinfections)
- The ability to infect vaccinated individuals
Thus, it is reported that if someone has had Covid-19 of a previous variant there may be no natural immunity to new variants (as noted on Wiki - link below) - I hope this is wrong.
I have met a few falangs around in Thailand claiming they had the covid, but none of them had done any test or had any other proof.

Deteriated some like everything does but dual braking still works and still locks the front wheel although needs a harder pull obviously.
Brake fluids is somthing I take serious, however oil change, it is all about your driving style, lenght of driving when you drive, and not only based on km. Time is another factor when it comes to oil.

Never lend any money to anyone if you are not prepared to lose it. This applies to anyone, not only Thais.
Banks are in the business of lending money, and know what they are doing and the risks. Why try to do better than they can.
No reason why you cannot give her 2 Millions and be surprised if you get any back. it is your money and you can do what you want with it.
It is posts like this where I believe the OP have gone through all the scenarios that can happen, and still willing to take the risk, so I guess it is waste of time, since it will not change his decission to lend her the money, and the question is more of a technical art than common sense ????
he is willig to risk 2 million to make 200 000,- +-

Like someone said on a post, using "God" is probably using the wrong term as people think it's referring to all the different gods of different religions. I should say " the creator of life the universe and everything", but it's a bit long to use, so "God" must suffice.
To answer the question, there is only one "God", though "God" may come in different guises. "God" appears to me in the sunset, in clouds, in rain, in forests, in the endless ocean etc. ie nature. "God" may appear to others as a triple headed elephant statue. Many paths, one destination.
And why only one god? Why couldnt it be more gods?
21 hours ago, thaibeachlovers said:Errrrrrrr, if God created life the universe and everything then God created nature. Ergo the "rules" of nature were created by God.
My best guess, I believe also a force, energy will have to work with the rules creator or not! Im still amused how much energy put in to something that you can only asume, or create/see/experience inside you after long long training, and where I believe we are the creators of the god(s) Thats why I say it is all inside you

I still do not understand why she do not want to take a bank loan, and sell the properties involved with the bank loan included. That is perfectly normal, or?

In the beginning you need to service due to their warranty policy, after that you can do what you want. Just a thumb or rule after warranty is past, change oil every 12month or 30 000,- km.
Mitsubushi have 5 years or 100 000km

Most likely she have already past her limits with the banks, family and other possibillities.

I am married to a Thai, we live on our farm in Issan for 20 years now.
Over that time we have seen over 30 farang came and go. There are 4 of us left now. We keep to ourselves and have a get together perhaps once every month of so. If you can entertain yourself with music, reading, hobbies as painting. If you have projects around the house/farm daily and if you can accept the Thai community way of life ... boom/boom (15" base speakers) music for weddings, funerals and all holidays. Soy dogs fighting and barking most all nights and when in heat. Thai families are usually good, accepting and understanding, but you will never understand how they live, values, beliefs, ghosts and luck.
The big question is not Thailand or Issan, the big unknown is you. Can you adapt? and can you adapt to Thailand. Coming from USA to Thailand will be a big contrast Capitalism and materialism at its worst to simplicity at its best. It's the silence and lack of stimulation that will be your biggest test.
It is all in your head, and willing to adopt or as you say living outside a society you never will completely understand.
Arm, farming, used to live remote, and willing to walk the extra mile to thrive and keep yourselves busy. As well have resourches to manage to escape once and awhile to reset yourselves, as well do not make this as your final destinarion, but have a plan when you get older and might need to move somewhere else a bit more urban with facilties that kan take care of an old man.
Everything is a journey, and at once you decide this is it, you slowly start dying. Isan is not my final destination for sure, but as long it makes my gf happy, Im happy, her family is happy, im pleased to stay as long I can.

What you don't know is I was raised in the countryside, worked on a farm in my younger years, moved to office work in London and have seen many facets of how people live, kid themselves their life is rewarding, by upgrading properties, vehicles, going out to fine restaurants, basically spending to justify the hours work sucks out of their lives
Then you have Isaan where people can live on a small piece of land work occasionally to pay for few beers, I enjoy living in that relaxed mode - 'gated community' full of people who think they have 'made it' no thanks
Cant explain why you like to live in the mountains in europe to someone who never felt the beuty of the differnt seasons, and never had the feeling of being truly free alone in the wilderness. Almost the same goes for Isan with its diversity. The good thing, we are free to leave whenever we want, and go on holiday to their paradises, and it feels like holiday and not day to day experience that gets truly boring after awhile.
Im also born and rised on a farm country side, and appreciate the freedom that comes with it, but for sure, not for everybody.

Well, I have friends that live in Cambodia and the Philippines but when they want serious top notch medical services they fly here. I only get to see them when they have a medical problem. Especially true for my friend who lives in Cambodia.
If you have decided you no longer want to live in your home country and you are looking for somewhere else to live you will probably go for the place that ticks the most boxes. Woman are just one of those boxes and not the only one.
Cambodia and phil os often for those who have given up thai women ????
Of course it is more voxes to tick off when moving, the same goes for making the decission moving to Isan! Often we have different reasons also, not only the woman, but for sure I would not stay anyplace in the world without a woman. Living Alone is not for me

Have you so far had one who said you are right and stopped them from where they where heading? This is what I find so fascinating with all this knownledge shared even from me to others in best meaning, never really stopp others from doing the mistakes they are going to do. Maybe make them think twice, and maybe do things a bit different, but in overall, nothing will change the fate they are going to meet, or we are going to meet.
Everyone have do their own mistakes and learn from it like kids. Im still not sure I have done the right thing, but I will know in 10 years right? So far so good ????
but as said, I have lived a life before I ended up here, so I know and used to remote places, and also born on a farm, thrive with growing vegetables and fruit, have animalse around me, and the freedom of landscape around me where I can rest my eyes. This is where my gf is most happy, and that influence me as well, and that is important to me that she thrive and are happy. Another thing I never liked tourist places except from visiting the for a few days and then travel to next destination. Up in Isan surrounded by the mountains I can relax and enjoy day by day just staying at the farm, and that have been very important the last year, enough space around me to feel free. The best thing, nobody complain about loud music either ????
But not for everyone for sure.
