For the married guys that claim they have to leave then switch to the marriage extension as nothing has changed with that extension.  So stop saying Thailand wants expats to leave their wives and kids in the rice fields.  That is ridiculous. ????

Yes, even 30 years ago it was a corny movie.

In 1953 it was shock & horror.

It is based on a true event in Hollister, California in 1947.

I doubt you've heard of that either.

As ever with Thailand they will gradually introduce things, like a frog in hot water, death by a 1000 cuts style.. That way they can control the pressure applied as they see fit, depending n how they do economically. During that time many will remain in denial, many will yell the 'go home if you dont like it' when the element they introduce doesnt apply to them (kind of ironic how the tables have reversed lately from the young guys losing repeat entry and easy tourist visas.. Old stable retirees telling them 'thailand owes you nothing, theres not a class for you' from thier high horse.. and now ??).. 

 

The only constant since my arrival in 2001 is that none of it has gotten easier.. 

 

 

Yep. Remember a few years bacl when they were cracking down on the ED visa. Those on retirement extensions were riding high in the saddle then.  Now it's their turn to have their lives torn apart.

His older passports would be gone for sure one would imagine?

And immigration cannot even keep records on a retiree for more than 12 months. I have to submit reams of the exactly the same documents year after year.

I spoke with the head of my immigration office today.  Her response was "what new rules"?

And what if you are in breach.  That is the million dollar question.  Do they just not renew your new application next year. And when can you apply? Or are you banished onto a tourist visa or whatever other solution you can scrounge up. Or do you have to deposit 800K and wait another 2 months to season it

Or if you failed to keep your balance over 400K all year are you declared on overstay, as would be the case if you were on a non-B extension and got fired, or a marriage extension and got divorced?

And if the breach (just one satang by the way would be all it that it takes), and it occurred more than 6 months prior to your date of application can you be jailed for overstay, deported and banned from Thailand for 5 years.

The new rules about required monthly import are only about income based applications for people that can't get embassy letters.

 

Combo method for people that can't get embassy letters is not mentioned at all in orders or memos, so those expecting to do that need to be warned that based on what we know now, there is an excellent chance of rejection. 

 

How people are supposed to make plans in this kind of unclear chaotic environment is beyond me. 

They only plan they want you to make is a plan of departure.
