  1. 2 years ago whilst in thailand for 1 year on a non-imm. multiple entry visa ( because my wife is thai ) i used the services of an agency on samui to obtain the 90 day visa run exit/entry stamps. they kept the passport for a few days and sent it to the malay border.the agency was recommended by the local immigration office and also by many expats there.the fees were reasonable and the passport was returned on time all present and correct. we left the country 90 days later via don meuang, no problems.

my worry now after reading about the crackdowns etc. re. these agents and the border officials is that when we return to thailand in december for another stay, the entry exit stamps from last year will be picked up either on entry or later in the year with all the attendant problems although the stamps look exactly the same as the other malay border crossing stamps obtained that year in the correct way.

what chance of that happening??? or does the fact that i had already left the country, and that that visa is now out of date give me a clean sheet.

  2. dont burn your bridges, leave some options open in blighty, bring 10 grand  and think of it as 6 to 12 months chill out,gap year, time to take stock, whatever.

be careful about getting into any business/marriage here until you can speak some thai and you really know and understand the family background of any people you are dealing with. lots of westerners become sad casualties out here because they enter into things that they wouldnt dream of back home with characters that they would not be associating with back home.the thais can see a green falang coming from a great distance, dont be blinded by the easygoing friendliness of it all.try and get to know thai people that do not come from the bar background.the bars can be fun and the girls persuasive but before you know it your money will be gone and so will your friends.the bars are not what thailand is all about.(thats not to say never enjoy whats on offer).come and have a great trip.

  3. I am about to purchase a car in my name and need some advice on :

    1. what sort of insurance is necessary by law.

    2. what sort of insurance is the best to have to be covered   for accident and damage and to include third party cover.

    3. a reputable insurance company.

I have a blue thai drivers license and a non-immig. visa for one year.

all and any advice would be much appreciated.
