things are messy enough already without the pm being bombarded with abusive and ill thought out arguments from visitors in this country who have knowingly or un-knowingly broken the law because they couldnt be bothered to do a visa run.this is not europe or the usa.things work differently here.

it wont help the cause of those caught up in this one bit.

personally i think those arrested will eventually be heavily fined and made to leave the country. it will be done on a case by case basis. those deemed undesirable may not get visas in the future should they wish to return.those deemed to be desirable will be able to return.i think a lot will depend on the attitude of the miscreant towards the authorities.

then again they could all do ten years.

, that now Thailand is going to start picking up homeless people and those without a place to stay ......  They also estimated about 10 million of these are foreigners, and now the Government plans on sending them back home once found.

but for many others, i think an amnesty would be in order,especially seeing as the lawmakers were just as much at fault as the lawbreakers.

at times I'm saddened that women think that their only worth rest upon having a man to take care of them and the belief that it's the only solution.

most people had no idea that they were breaking the law.

in many cases they were advised by immigration officers themselves.

the thais have always been noted for their flexibility in applying rules,and i hope that flexibility will be used in sorting out this mess.

i think that if you get a new passport in thailand from your embassy or consulate (by the way,what is the difference between an embassy and a consulate?)you will have to go to the immigration dept for them to put an "entry" stamp in,ie,to validate your being here.they will want to know your actual date of entry, if that date was not a legitimate entry then it will not be on the immigration computer and you may have some difficult questions to answer.

there is someone on this board who seems to have up to date and reliable info re. passports and visas etc. and posts a lot,i forget his name, maybe he will confirm that.

i would like to know shopgurls view on it all. are users of sex services seen by women as sad raincoated figures scurrying around in the dark, or just as people availing themselves of what is out there and having fun,or do you see the girls as victims preyed upon by men.

i understand that in bangkok there are bars or clubs that cater for women,i.e have men available for them.if any female forum readers have any experience or views on these places then please join in the forum.

but what about those who can't make up their mind about it,those who need time to think,those who need to try it before coming to a decision?

Thais fight over £6m bounty for terror chief

Rival Thai security agencies are scrambling to seize a bounty of $10 million (£6.6 million) paid by Washington for help in capturing Hambali, the most wanted terrorist suspect in South East Asia.

Four hundred officers from police, military and intelligence units have also approached the American embassy individually for the cash, claiming credit for the arrest on Aug 11 of the Indonesian, who was wanted in at least four countries.

Thaksin Shinawatra, the Thai prime minister, said yesterday: "The US government has given us $10 million for help in the arrest of Hambali, and we will allocate this fairly to the agencies concerned." He said some of the money would go to foundations for officers injured in the line of duty.

But one of his deputy prime ministers claimed that 10 members of the Armed Forces Security Centre and the National Intelligence Agency would receive large sums, leaving local police empty-handed.

Hambali, real name Riduan Isamuddin, was the suspected head of operations for the Jemaah Islamiah network blamed for numerous attacks, including the Bali bombings.

but please shopgurl, do not for one minute think that these women or any other thai women are submissive.you could not be further from the reality of what attracts western men to asian women.asian women possess what can only be called the pure essence of femininity,and before you get a mental picture of fluffy pink things and giggling dolls,i dont associate femininity with weakness in the presence of men. femininity is what has always attracted men to women.it is not the same as feminism.thai women are strong in a way that western women are not.the roles are defined and the boundaries do not blur.its not about who is the boss.and its not about who does the ironing.i can only speak about my relationship with my wife. she is not from the bar scene.and can speak perfect english.this does not make her any less thai or more westernised though.thai women can certainly stand up for themselves without the help of a man.thai men are the weaker sex in this country,thats why they have to resort to slapping their women around a lot.look around,its the women that keep this country going.

cant see what all the fuss is about

it seems to be aimed at asian tourists and golfers in particular,who travel here many times yearly for golf weekends.why do most of you think that this is solely aimed at falangs. asians are golf crazy and fast track immigration ,hotel and golf deals would seem a good selling point for this card.those that like the idea will buy it,those that dont,wont.
