My views are from observation, experience and some horror stories I have personally known where the foreign guy praised Thai wife and found out different later. I see many happy relationships where my own observation and knowledge is the Thai lady has little respect for her husband and even less appreciation.
Sure there are exceptions but I am often amazes for instance when a Thai lady is getting $$$ and asks for more or is given more and they often hardly seem to appreciate the extra and the foreigner ends up regretting the gesture because he feels it (he) isn't appreciated. The more you give the more is expected and the less is appreciated.
I have heard horror stories but what really amazes me is the guys don't see them coming. Again if you are paying monthly what do you expect?

I don't know about other peoples feelings but if you have to pay someone or their family to be with you, something is not right. I was never going to go for something like that. Not judging anyone thats just the way I am and think.

Really don't care if you believe me or not ... but I pay her nothing and we have always split everything. I think the trouble is most westerners tend to think all thai women are like bar girls and that just simply isn't the case.

No girls like fat and ugly men. But they might overcome that feeling if the ugly guy's filthy rich.
What about the really old ones who wear baseball caps and turned up jeans. That must do it for them!

I have no experience of the bar girl scene, but in my experience here of being around what I would call 'normal Thai women' then there is a good percentage of them nowadays who are very open and interested in things that aren't the same as they're used to. Music, movies, TV, fashion
I've been with the wife 17 years now and she's a "normal thai woman", but her taste in music and fashion is bloody terrible!

Could'nt agree more ... My wife can go out with anyone she wants, aslong as I don't have to be there.

While we are on the subject of media... For the over sensitive, most people are media-bashing NOT Thai-bashing!

They're taking their time about getting into the thousands then? Typical Thais eh? Can't even catch Corona virus properly. I blame the Junta. And the baht.
slow down Mr Thailand! I didn't say anything against the Thais. Who knows what the numbers will go into?

Pretty sure thats not the point he was making... I'm sure everyone is happy that she recovered. The point is saying "Don't worry about the coronavirus" when she was the first person to be treated and recover. What kind of treatment will people receive if the numbers go into the thousands?

Well this is my first marriage extension. Before I was on a work extension, do they want to see the previous bank books too? From when I was on a work extension? Sounds unreasonable to me...
My first extension was last year ... I'd been married for 6 or so years already and swapped over from a working non-B extension. It was quite an experience and had no time for mistakes. They did want all my bank books and they were also adamant about the embassy piece of paper to say I was single when we got married(which is'nt on the list of things you need in english, but is mentioned on the other side in thai),which we did nt have and was a real pain to get . She said to me that they were only really strict on the first year... and to be fair this year was much easier although I am still under consideration for a few more days.
EDIT .. I am not miserable but I do have a miserable looking face, so there is a good chance this is my problem ????

So now the do-gooders are blaming the system saying more should be done on re-habilitation but really can't say how that can be done.
You don't re-habilitate someones beliefs ... I have compassion for certain types of crime due to circumstances but if you are a terrorist, murderer, rapist or paedo. Personally, I think throw away the key.

Yes ,they shanked each other ,not decent people going about their daily lives ,and did not put on suicide vests and go to music festivals and blow themselves up . so dont bother with saying things like that .????
I was roaming the streets of souf london in the mid to late 80's early 90's, so I was'nt around for the great treat that were those lovely boys the Kray twins. Pretty sure they were not nearly as great as everyone seems to make them out to be and would'nt have hesitated to stab you if you were in the wrong place at the wrong time. London certainly wasn't peaceful on the estate I grew up on. Granted there were no suicide bombings but plenty of stabbings. Plus I did have the fun times of the IRA, whilst travelling to work across London.

So was it a robbery or a burglary? If it was a bag snatch, then the former is the correct term after all. But carrying $6K equivalent on her person in a tourist destination?
This was exactly what I was thinking. That seems really strange/stupid to me.

Its the only one for do 1 year retirement renewal in BKK area as far as I know.
Have u ever visited CW?
a backwater in the middle of nowhere....
yep its roughly a 4 hour round trip by taxi from where I am ... to get there at a reasonable time I hit all the rush hour(s) traffic and I don't even want to guess how long it would take by public transport.

Thats a difficult one to answer. I got there about 9 am and was out by lunch time, BUT I did go the day after immigration opened for the new year so there are a lot less people. I would say get there as early as you can under normal circumstances... there are long queues before it opens at 8.30 am.

yeah ... unless you get there at the crack of dawn you'll have plenty of time.
