  1. Of course that's completely possible, but how many of these incidents stem from a crime being committed against the customer? All I am saying to the Thai apologists is to consider the possibility the Irish guy could be a victim, not only of the assault, but also of the fraud the staff tried to commit against him.
  2. Which is EXACTLY how the scam works. For all we know, he slapped down 300, 400, 500 baht, or whatever, for the drinks he had, and walked out refusing to pay the scam. If the staff stand their ground on the scam, the customer is done over. The customer is basically mugged, just as good as if it happened on the street.
  3. You can be whoever you want to be in Thailand. I am busy being young and handsome. ????
  4. Fair play. Maybe some of these places should run a promotion sometimes to get more customers in. "Buy one drink, only pay for one drink." ????????
  5. You only read about the guys that get beaten up, most people pay the scam. What would you do if you had a few drinks, but not many, and went to pay the bill, and saw there were some drinks on your bill that you definitely didn't order, and, the staff stood their ground?
  6. The last time it happened to me was years ago, before I started to pay as I go. It was in a gogo, and I won't say which one, because it may have been a genuine mistake, but more than likely I was scammed. I drink a certain beer brand here that is very popular, and I don't drink any other beer, unless the staff tell me they have sold out of it. I had about 3 beers in this gogo and then asked to check bin. I still had a beer in my hand of the brand I drink, and the bill was for the 3 beers I actually drank, and for 2 beers of a completely different brand that I certainly don't drink, and certainly didn't order, for me, or for anyone, and I was by myself in that gogo that night. I questioned the bill, and of course, the Thai "face" thing starts where no one can be seen to admit an error, or admit being caught out, or, a crime was being committed against me. I paid the bill because I could see where it was going, but that gogo lost all credibility with me through either their incompetence, or the scam they were running out of the place, and I never went back. I then told my friends about my experience in that gogo, and they also avoided the place. Thai mentality. Scam a baht today, and don't care about losing 5 customers over it tomorrow. Ever since that incident, I have been paying as I go, and not too proud to say, "I have been scammed in Thailand." ????
  7. It's not about a punch on, or aggressive and violent security, it's about the scam. The staff pick an intoxicated customer, add some drinks to his bill, particularly lady drinks, thinking he's on holiday, he's rich, he'll just pay, no questions. Then when it comes time to pay, the customer questions the bill, then the show starts. The cashier raises her voice at the customer because he dare to question her, but he knows he's he's in the right, he says I'm not paying for those drinks, then the security gather around, at which most people then pay, and the scam is complete. Occasionally, you get a guy stand his ground, and it turns into a fight. The staff are on 300 baht a day. Add some extra drinks to bills here and there each shift, and it adds up.
  8. I think it fair to say most people would refuse to pay for drinks that they didn't order, but then faced with where they are, and the fact that police will make them pay anyway, they usually pay, despite not ordering the drinks. It's the reason many pay as they go here. It's an old scam. This guy decided to stand his ground. I hope the bar is named so it can be avoided.
  9. Thanks. I like cars and bikes, and I like his channel. That's interesting, because it goes against what he said upon his departure. I gather he'll just keep doing the circuit in Thailand. New meetings, but not exactly new content.
  10. The funny thing is, if they passed a law tomorrow, completely legalizing prostitution here, absolutely nothing would change in Pattaya in regards to prostitution and the sex trade. ????
  11. You forgot the thing that started the whole incident. - criminal bar girl and cashier add extra drinks to farang's bar bill and then get security guards to collect on the scam.
  12. I agree, Chad does a good job, but he's had training in production. As another member had posted, he has left Thailand, and it's doubtful he will be back in the same capacity.. He's one of the ones that really is / was working here as, basically, a journalist. We laugh at the work permit comment in this thread, but it surprises me the Thai's didn't see a baht in it and crackdown on it, forcing them to get work permits, especially when these youtubers can publish videos that can show Thailand in a poor light. Eg. food handouts etc.
  13. Covid rent discounts coming to an end, before there's enough tourism to cover business expenses, such as rent. There will be more closures over the next 6 months, but the Thai's have the solution. Their solution is, build another mall. ????
  14. Once again, I see your point, but are you trying to avoid catching covid, completely? If so, I would suggest that's impossible, no matter where you are. On that basis, why hold off booking a trip?
  15. I see your point, but it could diminish to 0 cases a day, but that doesn't mean it's not out there. You can still catch it. At what point will you put faith in your own body / health, and the vaccine, and start living with pre-covid freedom?
  16. Haven't you realized yet that we are all going o catch covid, several times? It's not going to disappear off the planet. You can wait for restrictions to be removed, and that's fine, but if you are waiting for covid to disappear, you will never get back to Thailand. It's going to be in Thailand, and all around the world, forever.
  17. Following Bryan Flowers' business model. If you buy every bar on the Soi, you can't lose, except for the fact there are other sois. ????
  18. No amount of alcohol and / or sex for sale. on a property that size, at that price, would make it a viable proposition.
