Who would Thailand have to deal with if Putin falls ill?
Tropposurfer replied to webfact's topic in World News
Given the loud and fatal bang that happened the other night, and the chatter about who it was that may have set and detonated the charge it may be he will be violently and premeditatedly removed rather than 'naturally' falling over and having someone step over his peacefully reclined corpse. -
Those are way better belief odds that I got last week. I'm so pis.ed!!! I tried to circulate a fake new story that Donald Dump as in fact (fake fact) innocent but it just wouldn't fly. I was trying to work out how come my alternative fake fact didn't take with others then I realise all those I disseminated this alternative reality with were by far and above sane human beings.

I read the percentage increases for the UK. I heard on cable news yesterday something to the effect that the energy costs for the UK utilities will rise 80% in the coming year! I am not a world energy expert lol ???? but I can't help wondering if, if decades ago the governments of the world had moved to serve their peoples better we'd have a strong viable network of alternative energy sources, and perhaps more, and as yet undeveloped efficient energy and storage systems of such energy sources me.g. electric and hydrogen cars with far greater ranges, exponentially faster charging rates, cheaper, and exponentially better because of the generational development of same. I can't help but sense inside me I agree with those who cry out that our governments have failed us. I think of my old country Australia; A nation blessed with energy sources beyond imagining; Intense sunlight, a huge tidal coastline, and wind power. The coordinated mass nation-changing efforts of contributing to and perhaps even leading the world in some forms of alternate energy development (solar was one for Oz at one time but was unfunded, left to starve and simply left our shores) has been piecemeal, and to my mind, little more than a political sham and play-acting. With successive government complicit in this sham, being owned and bribed by the huge energy giants that roam both my country of birth and the globe making obscene profits of which only small percentages are plowed back into caring for the planet.

Why import the physical drive? As many have said there's considerable risk or damage to the drive in transit (if not an SSD then its very delicate), interference by Thai Customs resulting in loss of data, possible loss in transit, possible inspection/snooping around in the contents by Customs strangers (your business material. if you want to be ultra-safe CREATE A 2ND BACKUP DRIVE FIRST. Then upload it in a group of caches as others have advised, directly onto a new external drive (perhaps faster, newer better tech than the old drive?) waiting to receive it. Continue to store the original drive in safe place back in the US.

Will the wall primer + color hide this mess?
Tropposurfer replied to FrederikKitten's topic in DIY Forum
Single coat of quality primer (straight out of a well stirred tin). Don't skimp on the coverage as many amateurs do. Crayon - WD 40 lubricant spray on a plastic kitchen sponge/scourer will remove the crayon easily and entirely. Make sure you clean this surface area after with some alcohol to remove the greasy film the WD puts on the wall. Use quality interior mould resistant, washable, wall paint x 2 coats (will resist the kids drawing and make it easy to remove other marks as the years go by). Apply paint exactly as instructed out of the tin (stir well, don't try and make it go further by thinning it). -
How True is "the smiles are fake"?
Tropposurfer replied to Brian Nose's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
There is NO objective answer to such a question ... the use of a smile is ALWAYS subjective my inquisitive friend. -
Looking at linear objects such as the fence and what I can see of the beautiful python it looks within range for the species endemic to LOS. You'd get a heck of a fright riding along the soi in the cool breeze on ya motocy and being met face to face with this big beastie lol ????

Koh Samui Residents Urge Govt To Speed Up Construction Of Bridge
Tropposurfer replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
If you think bridges can be beautiful then a really sick looking elegant thing could be built. A huge quantity of tourists fly into Samui from other than close provinces so I doubt very much if a bridge gunna' do much damage to BK Air's passenger flow. If they ever build it we might take a rode from the 'other' bridge connected island and ride across it. -
Problem watching online training video for drivers licence.
Tropposurfer replied to giddyup's topic in Pattaya
I must be blessed or something ... like being in league with Beelzebub ...as my FIRST Thai license in 2020 was so easy I nearly fell off the log. None of the convoluted stuff some of you folks post about. So easy it was laughable. -

Help, which visa?
Tropposurfer replied to Paul Noakes's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
"early 2023" ... only half a year away or so ... so why don't you cool your heels until then make an out-of-country retirement visa application, or visa on arrival and convert to retirement visa rather than come here soon for all the BS of border runs, and the expense of uncertain, possible difficulties with border-runs. Slow down, and process the much more orderly and easier options. -

I searched for a short while to see if I could find any information (from varied nations) as to social attitudes and norms around road safety and how long (if there was any data) it has taken to make substantive changes to social behaviours regarding road safety. No luck finding anything in the 10 minutes I spent searching, other than stats on deaths. I then went to my own home-nations databases and found this model of change that has shown to be effective in amending road safety issues. https://www.roadsafety.gov.au/nrss/fact-sheets/social-model-approach As you can see this model of change has a multi-spoked approach. I can't see anything re: this huge socialised problem changing without a national plan and a lot of focussed, coordinated, action by government, police, and courts. I saw on the BBC news (yesterday I think it was) an horrific accident in Turkey where over 30 people were killed in a mass accident where a large articulated truck plowed into a load of rescue , ambulance, and cars at an already attended road accident. Apparently Turkey has many thousands of road deaths a year (for year 2020 - 5,573) but not anywhere near the numbers we have in LOS. Sadly I feel, we never drive long distances in LOS because of the dangers of being on the roads for extended periods. We'd love to do a relaxed road-trip to Chiang Mai for example. I try to never be on the roads really late at night/early morning on the island (I imagine drunks being exponentially out more during the dark hours?).
