You don't get more cold and hard facts than the excess number of 2400 deaths that Thailand has had during the Covid 19 pandemic. If you refuse to accept irrefutable evidence from the BBC then that's up to you, but don't say there are no cold hard facts that prove that Thailand's death figure is a total joke.

The figure of 2400 excess deaths is btw very comparable to other countries, not every country has to have "ravage" style figures or overflowing hospitals. In fact only 0.8% of the population get the virus, and the hospitalisation rate is a fraction thereof, the death figure another fraction thereof. In Thailand's case most likely 2400 deaths.

The BBC-UK are the same as any other country in that they will use propaganda to protect their own failings. One of the reasons I left the UK 25 years ago (Another story).

However, I will hypothesise with you by saying, if the figures in the link were to be true and you added the excess deaths with the official Covid count then Thailands total death rate of around 3,000, being of a similar population to the UK has faired far better than the UK total of 70,000 plus.

No, actually, it's you and Yinn, who naively believe what you read. I am saying the article heading this thread, and indeed the one posted by Yinn with the two graphs from South Korea and Thailand are completely false. Here's why:

You actually believe the Thai narrative, low Covid 19 figures, so huge success story. Like these naive journalists. In reality nobody, but nobody, has an idea of how many people have died in Thailand of Covid 19, because nobody is doing any meaningful testing in Thailand. If you don't test for Covid 19, how can you know how many died of Covid 19? You can't.

You want facts? Here are the facts:

"The number of deaths in Thailand has been 2% higher than average, with about 2,400 more people dying than usual."

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-53073046

So obviously the nonsense Thai doctors are telling us is completely false. Thailand has not been a success story, there have been as many excess deaths as in many other places. It's just that Covid19 does not need to result in massive numbers of dead or overflowing hospitals, the notion that this automatically has to be the case is false.

However, it is absolutely clear that the numbers Thailand provides are laughable and completely inaccurate. They claim 58 deaths. In reality the likely death toll in Thailand from Covid 19 is closer to the 2400 mark, which is very comparable to other countries. No huge success story here.

    Again...don’t believe all you read.

I have heard enough from the inept Western governments spouting their rhetoric from so called experts who have got it expertly wrong.

Cold hard facts are what you need. Pictures, movie clips showing the massive pandemic spread in Thailand. You or no one else are able to provide this.

I have seen all the clips and pictures evidently showing the problem in the west.

I remember someone started a thread a month or so ago asking if others here have had any symptoms from Nov to Dec. It was amazing how many responded by saying yes, including chest rstrictions and a dry itchy cough. I aslo admit to these symptoms at that time. Maybe, just maybe, the Covid strain in Thailand and neighbouring countries was much weaker than in Europe, You have to admit that if things were as bad here as in Italy, UK, USA, Brazil etc, we, and the world, would know about it. Certainly Facebook posts would be red hot.

My point is that Thailand does not appear to have been ravaged by the pandemic regardless of testing or no testing.

We can agree to disagree because I do not take all these internet reports, graphs etc very seriously.

Probably explains why Cambodians seeking medical treatment are currently allowed to drive themselves across the Surin border crossing to the hospital in Surin, without undergoing quarantines. they have the right hair color. Or is it the right skin color. never know which one. LOL.

  4. Mate come on down. Hotel will be pleased with the business.

Beaches are open. IMOH Jomtien is good for walking and very busy at the weekend. You can have a beer/wine at a restaurant.

rumour has it bars will open on July 1 so may be best to wait for that is what you prefer.

  5. It is well known that weak governance leads to irresponsibility and corruption, which in turn leads to failed policies. Those failed policies create social problems and ecosystem decline.

Whilst it is good to hear this is recognised, how likely is it that the Opposition party will be in power anytime soon?

It’s a long political road (decades?) to Democratic leadership in the Kingdom.

I emailed her the doc and she said cost is 50 baht! I reluctantly said OK. She gave me the doc and said it was 2 pages so she asked for 100 baht....whhhaaaatttttt.

If you want to extend your driving licences you need only one certificate. You can copy it and sign the copy.

Hi Andre, I went to DLT last year to take my practical motorbike test and to also change the address on my car licence.

I had a C of R but she had me go back to the IO for another original nal copy? She said cannot copy. It must depend on who you talk to??

This message has just been posted on Wat Pho Facebook page: “Due to restoration in progress on the Reclining Buddha & paintings inside the building [we are] not allowing access to non Thai nationals, it was decided that for the safety of tourists we would restrict access.” 1/2

The whole point of this latest spat is too hopefully be rid of the racist felang. A bit like yourself??
Maybe you could enlighten us as to why the Thais should be privileged to your existence in the Kingdom.

    You again!!!

Of course if the wearer is infected and asymptomatic it is pointless to wear a mask. Five separate studies have shown that asymptomatic people do not spread the virus in significant numbers.

One study found 2.2% transmission by asymptomatics, one found 0.3% and two studies found 0% transmission.

    https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.05.10.20097543v2.full.pdf

So the transmission of asymptomatic people is somewhere in the range of 0 - 2.2%. Remember only 0.8% of people are infected, of those only 43% are asymptomatic. Thus the risk of catching the virus from an asymptomatic carrier is incredibly small.

If a person is infected and symptomatic obviously they should wear a mask. That is not the point. The point is that healthy people are, wholly nonsensically, made to wear masks when they have no symptoms at all, when wearing a mask is utterly and completely pointless to the point it is ludicrous.

This forum is hopefully express ones opinion. It is not usually used to preach and repeat nonsense posts.

you have an opinion, you only need to e press it once per thread. It gets repetitive mate.

so say what you want then leave rather than rinse and repeat!
