Seems like every news account of what happened is a bit different. Makes it a bit frustrating to follow.

Looking at the huge amount of cases in the USA .
Telling people to avoid travelling to Thailand is a bit like a really rough hooker insisting you wear a condom.
Yes, but most Americans are vaccinated, which prevent serious illness, etc. And it's fine to advise of other countries - good for those who are vaccinated already. The problem with the USA now is the unvaccinated and those vaccinated with comorbidity.

My Thai wife's view is that people, men or women, should go off the beaten path (jungle, national forest) in Thailand alone. Robbery or whatnot. The same could be said for anywhere, some places where the problem is more acute than other places. A crime of opportunity, very sad.
Anyone, anywhere, should be concerned going off for a hike alone. Fall, snake bite, immobilized, no one around....

Long walks, meditation, cooking, reading and writing, audiobooks and podcasts to listen to, working around the house, watching movies. Wife works.

Sounds like America last year. Good luck, god bless.

Someone in another forum said that their Vietnamese wife slept with the kids.
My Thai wife in the USA sleeps separately, and I guess it doesn't bother me. Maybe I'm old and this is temporary and the Covid craziness.

Milk from plants has been used for at least 800 years.

My error for lack of clarification: The USA has been pumping money into the economy.

Jesus. Just need to stop watching the news (as the Thai wife has done and recommends - or go crazy).

The Thai people here in our network in the USA see Thailand as a sh*tshow. We've all been vaccinated - months ago.

Former US Surgeon General says unvaccinated WILL get the Delta strain in the USA. A matter of time. Gottlieb is his name.

In the USA he would likely already be dead.
Yes, live in the USA and the police are something else.

Pattaya, as we knew it will never open again. It's finished as a full on party resort.
Hard to say. I thought the USA was a huge mess last year and the economy would tank, but life is back to normal (generally speaking) - masks are off for the most part (some/many do wear them at the stores), but economically things are doing pretty well. Bounced right back. But the goverment has been pumping a lot of money into the economy. There's a vibrancy and things are going well.
Pattaya and the rest of the country could bounce right back. Time will tell.

The Thai government needs to get the word out to the people that vaccines are safe and will generally end what's going on. The USA is back to normal - masks are off in most places and the economy is doing well. Of course, there are areas of the USA experiencing a surge in hospitalizations, but that's 99.5% due to the unvaccinated.
My wife, who is Thai and well educated feels a lot of Thai people are afraid to get vaccinated. No one in her family back home will get the jab. This is a huge issue in regards to herd immunity. It's going to take a long time and mutations are going to occur, but the Delta is bad enough!
I suppose the government will just throw up its hands and allow anyone vacccinated from abroad to enter the country without any restrictions (aside from proof of that vaccination.)
It will be the end of the year, next year, before vaccination efforts ramp up. It's really sad. We'd planned to move there, but are putting it off for several years. Perhaps, things will return to normal sooner than later - economically.

November 2022. Herd immunity may be achieved by then. Reason being a lot of Thai people are afraid to get vaccinated.

Cows pollute like crazy from their "byproducts." The methane they produce is a major factor in global climate change. And people don't need cow milk.

Almonds & Sustainability: The Truth About Almonds & Water Use (foodrevolution.org)
"almond milk is actually less water-intensive than cow’s milk. Companies like Blue Diamond and Silk contain approximately 38 almonds in a half gallon of milk. So, if each almond takes about 1.1 gallons of water to grow, then it takes about 84 gallons of water to produce the almonds used in a typical store-bought gallon of almond milk. By comparison, it can take up to 880 gallons of water to produce a gallon of dairy milk."
Also, the definition of milk includes plants and it has been that way for many centuries.
On top of all that, it takes me about 2 weeks to drink a liter of almond/soy milk. I prefer soy milk and usually drink that. Some of us just put a splash in our coffee and that's it.

Drank moo juice like it was going out of style for the longest time. Gave it up for organic soy and almond milk. Can't drink cow milk, anymore.

The world is perfect .It's a mess. It has always been a mess. We are not going to change it. Our job is to straighten out our own lives. - Joseph Campbell
In the States with Thai wife and life is good. But we have this thing hanging over our heads which is the virus. It seems to exacerbate our feelings towards things. Despite life being good (I'm retired and she works), its affecting us all mentally with the restrictions and travel problems. There is a pall that hangs over everyone.
Even though life is good, the news is all about the virus. 90% of it or more. We are are not all feeling normal. Family in Europe feels the same. The new normal affecting our emotional health.
Anyway, problems everywhere and often better to not dwell on it. We work on what we can do within our control.
