  1. 38.05 twice for $1 last October at Superrich - you can take that to the bank ????
  2. I exchanged € at 38.35 last week, now it's at 38.80, so a rather small difference only. Was able to exchange $ twice last year when it hit 38.05 - don't think we'll see that again for quite some time (I hope I'm wrong).
  3. I pride myself on them ???? What exactly are you referring to? That I didn't call him a pervert? I'd reserve that one for someone who exposes themselves to others.
  4. How close did she get to determine he wasn't wearing any underwear? In January I was in KL on the train from Batu Caves and a "height-handicapped" dude comes in and starts masturbating his member - then visible with the erection - through his shorts just across from me, while looking at his phone. I guess doing it in public gives them an extra kick. Wouldn't call it "perverted" though. Was glad he did it across from me and not a female. I only found it amusing.
  5. New ones will replace them, even if they deport the ones caught. This won't ever change (or only if you constantly check everyone's ID and perhaps even then it won't - how annoying would that be?) and I'm neutral on this. People have to survive & eat. People will always go somewhere else in search of a better life. I wish them well.
  6. I'm always surprised they're not extinct yet in ????????. Ihope that animal makes it to a ripe old age.
  7. While he's just a symptom of the perpetually dysfunctional state of politics in the kingdom, the country sure deserved better than him. And with TS threaten to return the next military coup is already pre-programmed, should he follow through. Jay yen yen, Thailand.
  8. Was quoted 95K baht at the private wing of Chula hospital last August, where they can do you within a week. Was told it would be half if that in that gleaming new public highrise wing just a couple doors down the street but need to wait until early October for OP date (your doctor will be just as good). In the end, it depends on where you live and how much you wish to pay for faster service.
  9. Moving there isn't that hard but opening a business is on a whole different level. Research exhaustively while you're there and don't rush into things because you want it badly. Chok dee krub
  10. It doesn't work that way that you come here and make up your own distortions about a topic you know little about and then try to "But can you ...?!" your way out of it, in what is a completely different discussion. You're entitled to not believe any of that, even some Buddhists question it probably. Buddhism isn't about blindly believing anything. But Buddhism *isn't* represented by someone selling something that can't be sold in the first place or a monk clearly abusing his vows.
  11. That raises some questions. Was it several purchases from the same person or from several person's? Were they wearing robes / not fake monks / did you know they were monks at that time? I think everyone knows that monks & nuns have taken vows, with the one about 'no intoxicating substances' being a biggie. So, if you knew he/they was a monk did you not hesitate to do your part to seal their severe vow violation by going through with the transaction? Anyway, part of the problem is probably that we tend to put robe wearers on a pedestal and then may they disappoint us. Unless you know him/her well, even if they are supposedly high ranking/famous/etc. it's best not to do that. Be respectful but don't be too trusting.
  12. As for "You have a right ..." - I've been saying exactly that. Buddhism IS all about "evidence backed reality". You're misled by examples of people misrepresenting it. Also, slowly decreasing negative emotions & bad habits & increasing calmness isn't "supernatural". This is just a misunderstanding & forming of a wrong concept on your part. Peace
  13. You really need to clarify your comments better. I suspect you are again talking about that super bad ????. I, however, clearly wasn't. There's about 300,000 monks in Thailand these days. What some of you have really been criticizing is that people are human and break rules, laws & vows - everyone does it, of course, some really take the cake like the one you keep coming back to, who apparently represents the state of Thai Buddhism for you. It's like claiming all Caucasian visitors & expats in Thailands are probably pedophiles. To come back to the comment about gambling, the OP hasn't yet grasped that Buddhism isn't trying to micromanage your life, the way some other religious sub-sects do. There is no lay people precept prohibiting gambling. Hence, the advice/request (because that person knows what folks like & they're just being realistic). It's all up to you. And my favorite part: the Buddha stayed out of people's bedrooms, as someone once put it. Isn't that the way it should be?
  14. Traveling to where though? Of course, they have some funds or are provided with them if needed. That shouldn't surprise anyone. Very few dwelling in forests foraging for grasses & tree bark as their sustenance (also because not many forests left).
  15. You must have been hard up for a source eh? ???? Still, that one "buying experience" doesn't mean they're generally the go to source now. You keep bringing up anecdotes. Seems your mother failed you in the statistics & judgement departments ????
  16. But do you visit Christian websites and attack them as well? The Buddha & the Dharma have nothing to do with people perverting it though. You obviously can't buy a ticket to liberation or enlightenment but have to put in the work. Everyone with an interest in Buddhism knows this. Yes, of course you have a choice. And others chose differently and that's cool too. Vesak is the Buddha's birthday. What you're doing is the equivalent of a non-white person coming to a Christian country and getting their knickers in a twist because Christmas is being celebrated. Imagine the reactions to that ????
  17. Are you asking us if you should ordain? ???? What's happening here is that the few bad apples are taken to represent the whole Sangha for some posters on here and that's not right, as it wouldn't be right with any topic. The majority of monks in the Theravada countries aren't engaged in anything scandalous or illegal.
  18. You started with "isn't a religion", I agreed 100% and now you're back to "religion". The simple fact is that our parents shape our spiritual beliefs until or if we choose to go a different way, that's all. Don't know what your beef with Buddhism is ????????‍♂️ but I'm not on here to convince anyone. If you don't believe any of this, that's your prerogative.
  19. What a strange comment filled with ignorance, unfortunately. Thailand is a Buddhist country, Buddhism doesn't need to be "peddled" here. You picked the one thing people were born into to make it sound like they were just copying someone rich & famous. Why? Yes, Buddhism isn't a Religion, fully agreed because there's nothing to believe in and the Latin word for religion, meaning to reunite, doesn't apply here. Individual critical thinking was always encouraged by the Buddha. As for your final comment, it doesn't sound like you know the country very well.
  20. If you have seen "Jai Ron" in action - and both Thais & foreigners can possess it - it's sadly not hard. Hate & anger are extremely destructive and should be avoided as much as possible. The lesson here is not to enrage others on purpose. For those saying "it's usually the Thais", well, it's a numbers game and they win it every time, don't they? Stop asking for a level playing field when that'll never happen. Yours is in your own country. Journey in Peace to the deceased and a quick recovery to the injured.
  21. So many words from you when "I'm a complete ignoramus" would have sufficed.
  22. Still, overstayers spend money and most of them aren't an immediate danger to anyone. So, apart from making themselves look good there isn't a big advantage to Thai society here, I dare say. That being said, you shouldn't overstay.
  23. Unfortunately, by being confused about what the May 12 date really meant and arguing about it, you got on the agent's bad side and she refused you the simple visa exempt 30 day option. Just get a plane ticket & fly in.
  24. But do we get to have a say who we foreigners welcome in the Land of Smile? ????
  25. I had explained the point but you seem to have an issue with others taking different approaches. Don't want to bicker, Mr. Know It All.
