BangkokBernie: "Why can't there be just nice considerate people on this planet?" Perhaps psychics at the airport are the answer? 😝 "You! No! Go back!" ... "You, yes, quality tourist, I can see."

Thai Mascot Worker Punched Unconscious by Foreigner; Attacker Sought
Mr Dome replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I, on the other hand, find it very believable because sadly, some people are like this and similar instances of unprovoked violence are reported pretty much everyday. The attacker obviously felt he was only punching an artificial creation and discounted the fact that there is a real human inside. I hope he will be identified. -
Big Thailand visa changes from June 1
Mr Dome replied to snoop1130's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Still only 2 visa-free entries via a Landborder? For those who can prove they live in a neighboring country and are not visa running, I'd love to see this increased/abolished. -
Why you shouldnt carry cash in Thailand
Mr Dome replied to CharlieH's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Traveller's Cheques? Seriously? I would highly recommend you carry enough cash for your needs in 🇹🇭. -
Aussie Woman Reveals Harrowing Tales from Infamous Thai Prison
Mr Dome replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
While prison is supposed to be a deterrent, Thai prisons are a violation of basic human rights. -
The world is full of people looking for revenge, it seems. That's no recipe for a happy life.

Thai Airways Confronts Social Media Storm Over Faulty Seats
Mr Dome replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
"When queried about the delay in addressing the issue, the airline's management confessed to an initial ignorance about the exact planes plagued by the problem." This is just inexcusable, unless the airline had given up. -
British Tourist Duped by Nonexistent Hotel on Thai Island
Mr Dome replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
They won't ever do that. During COVID times they were all offering rooms in hotels that had closed down months ago. I asked them why they don't contact each property confirming that they're actually still in business and they said they won't do that. It's trying to get away with the least amount of involvement. -
British Tourist Duped by Nonexistent Hotel on Thai Island
Mr Dome replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
I took the report at face value, saying it doesn't exist. Why would booking allow him to rebook if it does exist and he just couldn't find it? -
British Tourist Duped by Nonexistent Hotel on Thai Island
Mr Dome replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Booking dot com has the worst customer service of all these sites, I have found. Trip I found to be the best, followed by Agoda. If booking a new place, especially for so many nights, don't choose an unknown property with a low/no number of reviews. The price was also just too good to be true. -
British backpacker murderers make fresh appeal against sentence (video)
Mr Dome replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
How about using "accused, alleged" or "fall guys"? Many people remain unconvinced they were the perpetrators. -
Foreigner Questions Thai Dowry: Netizens Respond
Mr Dome replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Do any of you remember Stickmanbangkok from NZ? How he used to write post after post against the dowry and then in the end paid one himself for his own wedding? Did that wedding last btw? I only remember him going back to NZ. His posts sure warned me about Thai ladies though. The readers stories section was amazing (not just for horror stories). -
I had found out about this only recently from a comment under a YT video of a flight reviewer missing his flight at KLIA due to being stuck in the immigration exit line for one hour. I had not heard before that as a passport holder from one of of the 10 eligible countries, I could apply for this and as a frequent traveller to Malaysia this would make things so much easier. Arrived on Thursday evening - my 3rd time ever since the digital arrival card was introduced and asked an official in the arrivals hall about using the autogates. I was directed to the nearby immigration office where they took my fingerprints and presto! that was it. From now on, I can use them all the time (digital arrival card still required). I immediately used it to enter (& exit the next day), it takes about 10 seconds now. 😀 No more stamps in the passport too, which is another benefit, as even with extra pages, a 10 year pp lasts me only about five. The eligible "you've been good girls & boys" nationalities are: Australia, Brunei, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, United States and the United Kingdom P.S. Thailand should do this but they never ever will.

It took the Fins 18 years to build their last one (unit 3 at Olkiluoto). Just sayin' 😏

Immigration says “fast-track service at Bangkok airports” are fakes
Mr Dome replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Most folks on this forum wouldn't qualify for one: "To be eligible to apply for an ABTC you must hold a valid passport from an APEC economy (or be a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (Hong Kong, China), engage in regular business travel throughout the APEC region and have no criminal conviction." -
Well, unless someone forced you to come here, you only got yourself to blame. This is why wise people recommend starting with a trial period. Do you also have the figure of the amount you brought into the country? Did you come out ahead?

Mid-air drama: Man’s attempted suicide on Thailand to UK flight
Mr Dome replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The flights originate in TPE, stop in BKK, then continue to LHR and vice versa. EVA has done this routing for decades but some of their flights go nonstop from their European destinations to TPE. -

Mid-air drama: Man’s attempted suicide on Thailand to UK flight
Mr Dome replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You jealous? No need, I think. Assaults on the crew on the rise, frequently getting sick, entitled attitude in all classes, airlines cutting costs, overbearing ones like Qatar, dictating every part of your life, lousy pay, etc. . It depends on the airline of course, but I recently flew KUL - KTM, a 4hrs 40 mins flight. By the time we landed in KTM the crew had already been at work for 6+ hrs and they had to work the flight back as well. A 13+ hr work day, working all through the night. Of course, there are hours with not much to do but such a night shift takes it out of you. And all of this for peanuts. So, if that's a piece of cake, you're welcome to it. -
Rouble trouble: Russian woman fined for assaulting pregnant Thai
Mr Dome replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Russians in general aren't good at following rules, to put it mildly. Just 500 seems very mild. But maybe having a rap sheet in Thailand now will make it harder for her to enter in the future. Plus, her visa might still get revoked. -

Please don't put your personal issues/trips on the flight crew. Their life is hard enough as it is.
