  1. I'd have stopped right in front of them to prevent them from going further. Him actually stopping was the best chance. That would have prevented the needless death. Driver could have had a medical emergency or been drunk.
  2. I have yet to see an adult look good in them and I am flummoxed why people actually use them as street wear. Do they think it will get them 10% off all purchases? 🤔
  3. Tune in again next week for more drama in "As the somtam turns" 😜
  4. The VVD, biggest party in the last government has already turned him down. Mr. Wilders will find it very hard to find a majority: "Without the liberals, Mr Wilders will struggle to make up the 76 seats needed to form a majority. The only other major potential partners are the newly formed centrist New Social Contract and the centre-right Farmer Citizens Movement." It's not enough to be the well-coiffed bride at the wedding - and he certainly is perfect for that part - you also need the groom or 2nd bride to show up 😏
  5. People in a confined space can really "infect" each other with fear, regardless if the situation warrants it or not. Aircraft can fly perfectly fine with only one engine and they were so close to an airport. Me, being a long time fan of airplane crash investigations, I would have felt for those giving into their fear but enjoyed the action myself.
  6. When I entered at Sungai Kolok this year, they had a sign up that listed all the requirements, including the flight ticket out but it seems this is only actually asked if they are considering denying you entry. Aranyaprathet, where I cross the most has no such sign, so I was a bit surprised. I also only got 15 days at SK but always get 30 at Aranyaprathet. Also, nice to see that many airlines seem to have stopped asking you for an onward flight if you don't have a visa. This year so far, I had flights ending in Bangkok on Oman Air, Thai Lion Air & Singapore Airlines and none of them asked.
  7. Moscow to Istanbul flights never stopped. This really opens up all of Eastern Europe for THAI. It's just why would people spend more to fly them over TK?
  8. Do something unexpected like pulling down his pants 😏.
  9. I walk very fast as well. We were only allowed to leave the plane at around 18:35. Arrived at check point # 3, which was closed and we were herded on to # 1, which soon overflowed. I never quite understood how they achieved that cattle drive feel at Suvarnabhumi - I don't get that feeling at other airports upon arrival.
  10. That's relative. Arrived Tuesday evening, landing at 18:20, at immigration at 18:45. Finally got through and to the belt at 19:30 - now showing a different flight but my bag still going round on it. Many counters not occupied by staff. It doesn't have to be like this. Of course, other nearby countries aren't necessarily better. It once took me 40 minutes to pass immigration to exit Malaysia at KLIA2 (& we know how long the walk from there to your Air Asia Gate can be there).
  11. Maybe try a fortune teller? When it's your turn, you'll be glad to have somewhere to move yourself out of harm's way - any port in a storm, aye mate.
  12. Science & the age of enlightenment isn't someone's personal "will'. Wether they like it or not, homosexual people exist in every country. Saying they deserve to be treated with respect like everyone else and be able to live their lives openly like everyone else isn't a personal agenda either. Something tells me you're really not down with all the rules & laws passed in Malaysia, you're just jumping on this one. Threatening jail over colors on a watch is indeed very dumb & paranoid.
  13. That had - of course - always been the plan. Thaksin never intended to serve even one night in prison. So, will it be granted? Is the question.
  14. Saying Buddhism believes in it, which was all I did, isn't my idea. This topic seems to weird some people out on ThaiVisa and make them act insecure. Have they heard that Thailand is a Buddhist country? Shocker, isn't it? ????
  15. Well you asked & I explained. That was all ????????‍♂️
  16. That it exists and that the conditions of your next life are shaped by your accumulated karma from this & potentially other past lives. No connection to Christianity. Buddhism believes in a realm where demi-gods & gods dwell but they don't have any influence on our lives; we create it ourselves through cause & effect.
  17. "soul" is the wrong choice of words here for Buddhism, mind is probably the better term. And yes, I wish to be cremated, since we can't do the Tibetan style 'wild animal feast al fresco burial' anymore. My mother, now 90, is very much afraid of cremation but is locked in a casket & buried deep so much better? I don't think so. As I once said and my teacher agreed with me: "Death is the Yogi's return on investment". I look forward to mine & the wild ride that follows.
  18. Just what Thailand needs in the current political situation - not. It might be more tragic or it might be more entertaining, we shall see.
  19. Still, people who do bad things, tend to not do so well in the long run and vice versa, even without the factors you quoted. It's pretty obvious if one cares to analyse. But I don't want to make it sound as if I want folks to change to what I have experienced, so I'll stop here. All the best. P.S. The earth sure isn't flat ????
  20. - The visa situation - obviously. - People that are genuine and don't harbor ill will against you just for being a barang. - The countryside is awesome. - The interest rates. - The freedom in general to do your own thing is bigger here, I find. - The political stability (although born out of basically a "give them a bit of leash" dictatorship makes that a phat negative as well). - The culture is less complicated (no such thing as "krieng Jai" here) with fewer pitfalls. Cambodia isn't for the average expat though. You need a sense of adventure and high degree of independence. Also, if you need a lot of comforts from home & malls, then it's really not for you. Everyone needs to check for themselves.
  21. "Totally random" means in detail though that farmers planting potatoes might get corn and two mating dogs might result in rabbits or that kicking a policeman might actually get you a smile/thumbs up from him. Obviously, things are in fact related along cause & effect, if one only looks around and considers them. Saying it applies to everything BUT our actions doesn't make much sense.
  22. Your responses are text book examples of how a narcissist sees the world. Bro, there's a mile-wide difference between reacting to someone's out of line behavior & what you did. I would have made a comment myself along the lines of "I hope that taught you a life-long lesson." & see what I could do to render assistance if needed. *Of course, you shouldn't have stolen from him*. Your failure to see his accident as the immediate effect to his reckless behaviour is also puzzling but as it's all about you, then again not ????????‍♂️
  23. Everyone's entitled to their own beliefs, of course. But then what is your explanation of how things happen? Obviously, you don't follow the "bearded dude in the sky with a sick sense of humor who decides who perishes or gets sick today" one but which one then? Is it all random?
  24. Karma sure isn't stealing someone's wallet even if they did something dangerous to you or stealing a phone when you know who dropped it or taking revenge on someone that was rude. Karma isn't revenge or the permission to take it. Your actions were way worse than what was done to you and that bad karma is all yours. The chain of accumulation doesn't stop with you upping the ante. When it ripens and nobody can tell when that be, you will either have forgotten or won't make the connection anymore. Hoping for you this was all just creative writing.
  25. We're talking about the same thing, you just can't see it. I wasn't talking about "a little unhappy" but to the point of causing a scene. I was at NRT on board a Northwest 747 to LAX many moons ago and we went back to the gate to unload an older Philippino lady who had been quite unhappy and had directed this at the passengers around her by making false accusations of theft.
