"soul" is the wrong choice of words here for Buddhism, mind is probably the better term. And yes, I wish to be cremated, since we can't do the Tibetan style 'wild animal feast al fresco burial' anymore. My mother, now 90, is very much afraid of cremation but is locked in a casket & buried deep so much better? I don't think so. As I once said and my teacher agreed with me: "Death is the Yogi's return on investment". I look forward to mine & the wild ride that follows.

Latest date for ex-PM Thaksin’s return is August 22
Mr Dome replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Just what Thailand needs in the current political situation - not. It might be more tragic or it might be more entertaining, we shall see. -
Still, people who do bad things, tend to not do so well in the long run and vice versa, even without the factors you quoted. It's pretty obvious if one cares to analyse. But I don't want to make it sound as if I want folks to change to what I have experienced, so I'll stop here. All the best. P.S. The earth sure isn't flat ????

- The visa situation - obviously. - People that are genuine and don't harbor ill will against you just for being a barang. - The countryside is awesome. - The interest rates. - The freedom in general to do your own thing is bigger here, I find. - The political stability (although born out of basically a "give them a bit of leash" dictatorship makes that a phat negative as well). - The culture is less complicated (no such thing as "krieng Jai" here) with fewer pitfalls. Cambodia isn't for the average expat though. You need a sense of adventure and high degree of independence. Also, if you need a lot of comforts from home & malls, then it's really not for you. Everyone needs to check for themselves.

"Totally random" means in detail though that farmers planting potatoes might get corn and two mating dogs might result in rabbits or that kicking a policeman might actually get you a smile/thumbs up from him. Obviously, things are in fact related along cause & effect, if one only looks around and considers them. Saying it applies to everything BUT our actions doesn't make much sense.

Your responses are text book examples of how a narcissist sees the world. Bro, there's a mile-wide difference between reacting to someone's out of line behavior & what you did. I would have made a comment myself along the lines of "I hope that taught you a life-long lesson." & see what I could do to render assistance if needed. *Of course, you shouldn't have stolen from him*. Your failure to see his accident as the immediate effect to his reckless behaviour is also puzzling but as it's all about you, then again not ????????♂️

Everyone's entitled to their own beliefs, of course. But then what is your explanation of how things happen? Obviously, you don't follow the "bearded dude in the sky with a sick sense of humor who decides who perishes or gets sick today" one but which one then? Is it all random?

Karma sure isn't stealing someone's wallet even if they did something dangerous to you or stealing a phone when you know who dropped it or taking revenge on someone that was rude. Karma isn't revenge or the permission to take it. Your actions were way worse than what was done to you and that bad karma is all yours. The chain of accumulation doesn't stop with you upping the ante. When it ripens and nobody can tell when that be, you will either have forgotten or won't make the connection anymore. Hoping for you this was all just creative writing.

We're talking about the same thing, you just can't see it. I wasn't talking about "a little unhappy" but to the point of causing a scene. I was at NRT on board a Northwest 747 to LAX many moons ago and we went back to the gate to unload an older Philippino lady who had been quite unhappy and had directed this at the passengers around her by making false accusations of theft.

Well, I live there and I pay for all day to day expenses in KHR. On top of that, the prices are in riel these days in most supermarkets & convenient stores (they always were at the markets) and if you're paying in USD, some places will apply a poor exchange rate of 4200, so you'll end up paying more. So, things have changed a bit in ????????. Pro tip: - If you have a larger amount of KHR to exchange for USD in Cambodia, March is the best month, while it's October/ November for the other way around when both rates peak respectively. ACLEDA banks usually have the best rates.

Escalator Malfunction Creates Scare at Major Mall
Mr Dome replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
It's not only happening in Thailand of course, saw an escalator that had started to "eat itself" in Phnom Penh but it will keep the spotlight on the DMK incident that the airport bosses wish would just disappear. At least nobody got hurt here. The staff prevented photo taking move is just dumb though. -
Thr victim was way too trusting regarding the hotel's ability to always identify him ands the real owner through all staff changes. I could never be this trusting but tend to play "Best/worst scenario" in my head and here "worst" would always win. He's lucky he got his stuff back. The question is, how did the Singaporean know that the victim had done this?
-
You were offered the opportunity because it isn't going well. The shops you can see into from the street are mostly customer-free, in my experience. Take a look in Pattaya. Perhaps, even a chat or two with the owner.

This made me chuckle, how a regional issue with correctly pronouncing a consonant relegates his correct name to "also" status. Also, if you need to make a body disappear, freezers really aren't safe options. ????

An excellent decision. Btw, whatever happened to "Thaksin will definitely return to Thailand in the month of ..." ?

Because that's impossible to do? Shoe laces, long fringy pant legs, etc. can all get stuck in there everywhere on the planet and have. "Incidents involving elevators and escalators kill about 30 and seriously injure about 17,000 people each year in the United States, according to data provided by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Elevators cause almost 90 percent of the deaths and 60 percent of serious injuries." 40% of 17,000 = 6,800 Can check them for safety but there will likely always be accidents & malfunctions.

Don Mueang airport’s escalator accident not caused by poor maintenance
Mr Dome replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
You're still rocking the victim blaming hard # 1. The pink roll-a-board looks perfectly fine to fit into an overhead bin of a modern aircraft. When you take a flight these days, you see even bigger ones. Why exactly shouldn't it be on the travelator? That's just a bizarre claim clutching at straws to blame her for this. - There's simply no rule like that. People use them with all their carry on luggage everyday, including premium class passengers with significantly higher allowances for carry on (which some of them exceed even because most carry on items are never checked for weight) plus those heavy bottles from duty free that airlines never have an issue with in any booked class because $$$$. - Heavy obese people use them daily, so maybe they shouldn't be on it either - if it's about weight and size. I don't think you've thought this through all the way. #2. Maybe she was using her phone but you're making assumptions and that's a no no. It's also a false one as charging it would support that she wasn't on it. #3. I thought the explanation was that an opening was created when a case wheel came off and her leg went down inside. Now, you claim her clothing might have dragged her down (and the travelator remained undamaged - or are you claiming both?). You really have to pick one theory and what we heard so far rules out your "jeans theory". Why don't you wait for more facts to be revealed before speculating? -
Don Mueang airport’s escalator accident not caused by poor maintenance
Mr Dome replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
This is just a bunch of collected info in escalator incidents that really doesn't contribute anything to what we're discussing, specifically your claim that she had caused the accidence through "negligence" ????????♂️ -
Some people here are missing the background story: "... hours after Meta's oversight board ruled that he should face a six-month ban from the platform over a video post in which he threatened to have opponents beaten." Anyway, the useful idiots - FB - weren't supposed to apply rules to him just the ones he wants to silence. https://www-buzzfeednews-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.buzzfeednews.com/amphtml/meghara/facebook-cambodia-democracy?amp_gsa=1&_js_v=a9&usqp=mq331AQIUAKwASCAAgM%3D#amp_tf=From %1%24s&aoh=16882515641072&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&share=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.buzzfeednews.com%2Farticle%2Fmeghara%2Ffacebook-cambodia-democracy

Don Mueang airport’s escalator accident not caused by poor maintenance
Mr Dome replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Your view of people is rather negative, isn't it? Blaming her for her roll-a-board having a mechanical issue & calling that "negligence", stopping short of blaming her for having had luggage at all (because in the words of another poster, these things aren't designed for it & yet another "it looks rather big". What?! Have you flown much?). Is it too much to expect that even if a small plastic object gets caught by the teeth (already an unlikely outcome as it should just get pushed off and not catch) at the end, that object gets chewed up but the metal parts of a travelator remain sturdy and in place? Apparently not ????????♂️
