  1. The obvious similarities in the names Pattaya One publication and Pattaya One News might also have many inclined to think they are connected.

I think it's reasonable for one to think that the Pattaya One publication has something to do with Pattaya One News.

Please see from the reply above: "The Pattaya One News website has nothing to do with the Pattaya One publication except that some individuals also co-own the paper".

You would have to speak to Pattaya One News to obtain further information about them, as we really have no idea.

Exhibit 1. Confirmation from a guy called Howard Miller that a guy called Howard Miller is connected to Pattaya One.

Pattaya’s newest publication, Pattaya One, has signed a joint-venture agreement with ThaiVisa.com who will provide exclusive online access to Pattaya One’s content, in a downloadable PDF file containing electronic versions of the newspaper, from October 1st.

    .....

“Our association with ThaiVisa.com is an important development for us as a new publication, and for our advertisers, and we are delighted to be working with ThaiVisa.com as the leading community/social networking English-language website in Thailand," says Howard Miller from Pattaya One.

Exhibit 2. Confirmation from a guy called Howard Miller that a guy called Howard Miller is owner of Pattaya One News, from an old Stickman interview.

Well, I have got the TV news service and the website news service. Before I was involved with Pattaya City News. I had a nasty break up with my Thai partner and that is why we created Pattaya One News. The website for Pattaya One is www.Pattayaone.net.

There must be a smiple explanation. Obviously there are two Howard Millers one runs Pattaya One and one runs Pattaya One News. So it is understandable that confusion can arise.

It should now be obvious to simpletons reading this that:

The Pattaya One News website has nothing to do with the Pattaya One publication

If you need any information on Pattaya One, just ask Howard Miller.

If you need information on Pattaya One News please direct questions to Howard Miller, no not that one the other one.

  2. I read this article with interest as I considering having some block tiling work done, similar to that in Nana. Does anyone have the contact details for the workers?

  3. Just wondering as I thought Thaivisa had a policy of not posting Bangkok Post articles.

Yet the recent Sunbelt article in the News section was written by a Bangkok Post journalist for the Bangkok Post and is therefore their copyright. ( Just because it hasn't yet appeared in print doesn't t mean that it isn't.)

Can you clarify the Thaivisa stance on posting Bangkok Post content. is it allowed or not? Or is it only allowed if it relates to a sponsor's business?

Sunbelt's Facebook site, Topic page states:

Political tensions not affecting foreign business sentiment

  4. Well so far still no one at Immigration knows anything about the changes. No report in any newspaper yet. Nothing on any other embassy website. Not surprising that the British embassy have a mention of it as their Honary Consul in Pattaya, and owner of the newspaper who printed it, will have passed on the 'news'.

See Badbanker's update on another thread. ( Bear in mind he works with Immigration Officials on a daily basis and was asked by Maestro, one of the TV mods, to check the story out. )

So far it is all spurious talk! I spent the week working everyday with immigration airside at the airport, Suan Plu and Chaeng Wattana. They all laughed at the Thai Visa thread and the Pattaya One and the impending crackdown! It was business as usual for them. If you have 20k and a valid passport and a valid entry stamp you go free. Don't matter if you stayed 5 years?

Can PattayaOne or Thaivisa please send a representative to Immigration to explain to them how they should be enforcing the law . . . and to ask them politely not to laugh at the story as it is being taken seriously by some halfwitted expats.

  6. You really have to wonder if TV has screwed this up big time. So far no mention at all of any changes in any recognised news source - excluding the super , soaraway Pattaya One of course.

Yes, people are going to jail for overstay when attempting to leave.
Short jail stays for overstays are handed down every day.

Sure you aren't including Burmese in this as a get out? And you are saying none of these people has been bothered to complain to a new paper back in their own country about their treatment?

This is looking seriously like the Thaivisa 'Jumped the Shark' moment where rather than admit a serious misjudgment it just keeps getting glossed over. In the end I have a feeling that these threads will disappear suddlenly when the calls for real proof get louder and none is forthcoming or sob story about how they were tricked is given by Pattaya One or TV.

    Sad.

  7. Agree entirely with Chunky. You don't see wealthy Thais treating poor Thai with much respect. Thai bosses know how to deal with staff and don't stand for any nonsense. Farang bosses are far more likely to be taken advantage of by their staff. You also dont see many Thais rushing to pay 500K baht sin sot for an uneducated farmers daughter, yet plenty of farangs do. This type of behaviour just adds further encouragement for Thais to take the piss when it comes to dealing with farang employers.
