Both links work for me upcountry on TOT ASDL.
HSBC link: http://www.offshore.hsbc.com/1/2/internati...B_2009_06_AF_CJ
But you need to deposit GBP 60,000 minimum to sing up for an Offshore account. So for many expats I think a regular Thai bank account will do the job.

From The Nation Live Updates page:
1.30pm : Nuttawut Saikua, a red shirt leader, announces that a total of three million cc of blood will be taken from one million red shirts tomorrow. If the prime minister still refuses to dissolve the House, the blood will be poured at Democrat Party, the Government House and the PM's residence.Strange how two Thai journalists from the same paper cant agree on numbers they heard spoken in Thai.

As far as car colour fashion goes, white is the new black, which is the reason Thais are clamouring for 'exclusive' white cars.

Seeing as elections are out of the question - as the Reds would win, And a coup is out as that wouldnt be popular with anyone and would only stir up more ill feeling towards the top brass.
So only solution is Abhisit to go and a new coalition & PM with military background installed, with backing from the Army. Reds cant complain as they get the current govt out. Yellows won't complain as the army has the backing of what The Nation & BKK Post like to refer to as 'the invisible hand' and so is beyond reproach.

Songkran on Koh Chang finishes on 15 April. But there is 'Songkran 2' the week after, a 2 day New Year party for all the locals and resort staff who had to work during the real Songkran. Much more fun than the official Songkran which is mainly drunk farangs and children throwing water.

At a holiday fair we bought a few night at Dusit Princess..if you stay there, perhaps you could let me know what to expect. I'm sure that if you look you may find a reasonable price for that time.
You'll probably have the Dusit Princess to yourself. Nice hotel but their artificial beach is a bit of a disaster. Looks great at high tide, at low tide it's a large pool of sludge hemmed in by two sea walls. Can't walk along the beach at all - it's all rock pools here. You'll need your own transport to get to decent restaurants and other good beaches.
Try Chai Chet Bungalows for a good pool, great views, cheapish bungalows. By the sea but not on the beach - 2 mins walk to the sand though and shops & restaurants 5 mins walk away.

Odds are that there is other code in other pages on your site and if someone has hacked it and you dont know how they got in then it is better to do a clean install and upload files again. The htaccess is easy to find and delete the rogue code, but I'll bet it comes back again. Are you using Wordpress or a CMS? If so you might have fake jpg's in your Images folders or check the cgi bin folder, if you have one, and see what's in there.
( I've had this happen to me before)

Something things to consider.
Thailand has some 125 people/km2. That's a bit less than the density in Florida which is 131 people/km2. Climate isn't that different.
According to the Florida Department of Transportation, there were 16.46 Million vehicles registered there in 2008. At some 19 Million residents, there are 87 vehicles/100 residents. Thailand had 25 Million vehicles registered in 2006, and at some 62 Million residents there were some 40 vehicles/100 residents.
Furthermore, Florida had 2,983 traffic fatalities in 2008 compared with Thailand's 19.2....per 100 000 residents (or some 12 069 total).
So, while Thailand is less densely populated, has fewer motor vehicles (and that's counting motorcycles) per resident, it had 4 times as many deaths (and that's not counting the hit and run fender benders that are endemic in Thailand) than Florida had!
But Florida is full of old almost dead people on golf carts whereas Thailand is full of young people on pimped Honda Waves.

Thanks for that - I'll pass the info on

A friend has land and a house on a housing development in Thailand. A well known law firm set up the company. The title deed is in the name of his Thai registered company - no problem. And a Tabian Baan has been issued.
He sent me a copy to check if I thought it was Ok. But I noticed there is no one listed as either owner or occupier.
Shouldnt his company, as owner of the house, be listed as such? Seems a bit odd as with no-one's name on the blue book.
His lawyer and the developer both say it is no problem. But wont give any reasons what they cant just head down to the local govt offices and get his company listed as the owner of the house.

No Launch Manager in my control panel. But never mind.
Tonight I'll try reinstalling XP or maybe Win7 and see how it goes. If not then a day trip to Acer is in order.
Thanks for all the ideas.

Downloaded a new launch manager zip file & reinstalled it. Nothing changes. Still the same error message and wifi adaptor not working.
( No icon or anything showing for launch manager though - but never had one before as far as I remember.)

OK after a restart it looks like windows has now decided that the driver itself is OK. But the problem in the Apadpter Properties is that 'windows cannot load the drivers required for the device (Code31)'
If I try to update the driver now, the message is that the update wizard cant find a better match than the driver that is installed.
So any ideas about how to get windows to load the drivers that it says are OK - but also says it cant load
-
Not the wifi On/Off button. I wish it was that simple.

I got the wireless network adapter back in device manager. Now showing with a yellow circle & with black exclamation mark on it.
Clicking 'Properties' shows that windows cant load the driver, driver may be corrupted or missing. In the 'Driver' tab it showe a correct driver, version 7.6.1.194.
I downloaded a newer version of the driver. 7.6.1.221. Then tried to update the driver. Now 'Driver' tab shows the new driver is installed. But on 'Properties' still get the same message that the driver may be corrupted or missing

Acer Aspire 4535 AMD Athlon WinXP SP2
Was working fine until this morning. Got a blue screen when I first turned on laptop,so just restarted it and it came on OK. Seemed to be fine
Usually I just power up and it connects to my home wifi automatically. But now cannot. No connections visible when i click ' View Available connections'. Tried to refresh the list but still nothing shows.
When I try to repair I just get a message saying that.'following action cannot be completed - Connecting to the wireless network'
wifi itself was fine as i could use it with a spare laptop
I did a bit of Googling and figured that the driver might have got corrupted. So downloaded a new driver, then tried to update. End result was that now my wireless adaptor now seems to be missing.
In Deviuce Manager > Network Adapters there is no WAN controller
ANy ideas how to get wifi connectivity back?

Moreover, hotel operators have asked for an exemption from the annual fee of Bt80 per room they have to pay to the Revenue Department.
A sign that hotels must really be struggling. Maybe they could have a whipround and find the money for the Revenue Dept.?

Has anyone here ever experienced grilled mango, orange blossom honey, and Hawaiian bread toast aromas when drinking a beer?
Nope. Which is why we're here and not travelling the world sampling beers and reviewing them in 'Beer Monthly' and other trade journals. There again upon sampling my last Chang, I did comment to the wife on the resemblance in taste to rusty strawberry with a hint of linament.

My wife's family have a lot of SK1 land and they have been told that the SK1 title deed in Thailand will be abolished and anyone with this land will have the title upgraded to Chanote in 2010. If so, that's some good news. Can lease some for a house of my own :-)
Anyone else heard this? Any source of info?

Nice price reduction from just over 3 million to 1.9 in under 6 months. Se the press releases at the launch when Raimon was boasting about the 120,000 Baht/sqm they had got from the first lucky buyers

" Todd Lavell... is an American writer who provides an example of how a farang can be so Thai-like. His articles ... often underscore what is deemed to be the true value of Thainess, which is opposite to and more superior than that of farangness."
--Pavin Chachavalpongpun

Expert on Thai nationalism and Thai identity
Is there anything more that needs to be added...?
Something else that could be added is that Todd Thongdee / Lavelle was basically shagging his way through as may Thai chicks as possible when I knew him in the late 90s. I knew a couple of the girls that got the clap from him.
Mayฺe that's deemed to be atrue value of Thainess - pretending to be one thing in public and another in private

Interesting to note that the practice of playing the King's Anthem before the movie is relatively recent. It has always been played. But in the past it was at the end of the movie. However, cinema goers usually left before it came on, so it was shifted to the start to ensure everyone heard it & stood.

All part of the judicial coup.
Sondhi was arrested. He was out on bail when his supporters took over the airport. Also waiting with interest to see is Sondhi's outstanding 'Lese majeste' case ever gets to court . Or only those cases faced by TRT/PPP supporters.

No deals on cabinet seats
I guess this was before Abhisit found out that the powers that be had installed one of the bosses of CP Group in his cabinet to oversee the country's economy. Nice reward for them financing the PAD.
