Are all those splotches an attempt to paint?  Maybe paint a mountain scene with the crack being the slope of the mountain.  Until you might see some serious movement, I wouldn't worry about it.

no,  My S.I.L. tried to patch it with some cement.  tHE WALL HAS BEEN UP THERE FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS,  THAT IS THE ONLY SPOT THAT HAS GIVEN US TROuble,

I'm going to wait until the top topples and then I'll rebuild that section.

  2. I thought I'd run this past our folks that do their own around the home repairs to get an idea of the best way to tackle this.

I have a concrete wall back around our patio.  The back patio is built over a swamp that is tidally influenced on the edge

    of the river.

A portion of the wall has been compromised.

    Here are the photos.

From the inside (you can see daylight through the crack)  The support posts on both sides seem sincere,

but I believe the post on the left has settled vertically and dropped sightly lower than the post

on the right.   Causing the crack to form where the wall was weakest.

Here is the foundation... It appears good,  no cracks that I can see..

In the lower section you can see that the whole thing is built over a swamp.   I

can not access the swamp side of the wall.

The whole wall was built from the interior of the patio from the bottom up.

Here is the wall from the back.

The  blocks on the back side of the wall have cracked diagonally through

and through,  rather than along the contrete in between them (where I'd think they'd want to crack.)

So how would you deal with this?

I am thinking that until the top part of the wall completely fails and falls into the swamp,

any fix will have to be simply cosmetic.

If and when it does fail,  I can rebuild the fallen portion from the bottom up on the inside of the

    wall bondaries.

What would be the best treatment to keep the crack that has formed from getting worse in the meantime?

  3. The alcohol causes problems with rubber seals/ o-rings and fitting materials..     In the states we use a product called "HEET"    It gets the water out of your tank.   I think it is straight up isopropyl 100%   not the 70% stuff you get at the drug store.

  4. Think in terms of fractals when you consider the wayward Cruise ships and how they are being "handled."

China is the Hospital,  the Hospital is the neighborhood,  the neighborhood is the planet.  The virus is already here.

You can not keep the ocean back with a broom,   just plan on getting wet and remember to swim when the water gets over your head.

    Really? That's the only point?

How about the point of protecting yourself and others by doing what you can such as washing hands frequently, wearing a face mask, and avoiding crowds.

These measures don't guarantee you won't be infected or infect others but at least make an effort please.

Cynacism, false bravado, and defeatism is definitely not the point.

Yes,  it is the only point,  there are no other points involved in any way.    You must think that the people on here are a bunch of <deleted> idots.

The points you made i have made previously in this very thread.

  6. Well,   now that everybody is in the loop on the virus situation and understands the badness potential,   I am not going to send any further information on it unless somebody asks,  or somebody I know personally gets it.

Enough energy in that direction.    Time for psychologic "quantum triage."

I am going to ask you to do me a favor.  It is kind of an experiment in "changing the narrative" as Dr Miller might say.

I am asking you to make up a different ending to the story we are in.   You don't have to share it with me or with anybody if you don't want to.

The important part is to visualize it in your mind as it would happen if you could change the situation. If you could right this capsized ship.  Revisit the new script throughout the day.
    See it,  watch it.

You could consider it a prayer or a special ritual to lend help if that works better.

  7. I get what you are saying Wavehunter,  bt it is kind of like throwing a party.

You can invite all of the neighbors and put on a good time with festivites and all,  but you can't force attendees to have the time of their lives.

You don't think a province with confirmed cases exceeding or approaching 1,000 and growing exponentially are not

People that are still in denial thinking that this is not a real global crisis need to grow up and face reality!

Good luck with that.  Just be patient and take care of what you can,  you can not help those who choose not to see/hear your message.

Let the disease do the talking,   it'll be heard.

Save your energy for getting better when you get sick.   I believe we'll need all of our strength and a full measure of good fortune.
