For the VA it’s really easy to sign up for the International Direct Deposit Program I don’t know about the other two agencies. But you can have you’re VA Disability pension set up for IDD but not our DFAS military retirement pay. I actually receive both because I retired after 21 years of military service. So I still use our bank in the states and my local SCB account. So for me it works out very well for immigration and for our own personal financial situation it really does.

But like I said I’m not a conservative or a liberal I just believe in right and wrong and just causes.

You know regardless of everything else I discussed with people on here about Trump I actually do totally disagree with ending birthright citizenship though. And it is the 14th Amendment of our constitution I believe if I’m not mistaken. I used to have all the constitutional amendments memorized.

It seriously is a great deal.

And I still can’t figure out how to book mark this topic darn it. But I do recommend the IDD program if you are eligible for it and if you’re currently doing manual transfers to your Thai bank account because it really is a God send it saves you A LOT of time and money as well because it’s free IDD has no transfer fees because it’s for United States government pension payments IE Social Security, VA, and OPM.

How many bars have you seen open in Korat?
Too many to count. I’ve been here 5 years actually living here for the last 5 years and I still haven’t been to all the restaurants/bars that I’d like to because there are just so many. I have a few preferences though and there’s such a great variety sometimes when we go out it’s hard to decide where we want to go. Sometimes we’ll go to one of the Japanese restaurants one in particular that’s REALLY GOOD, sometimes we’ll go to a foreign owed restaurant/bar with great western style food, sometimes we’ll go to a New York style restaurant/bar just around the corner from our house within a few minutes walk, sometimes we’ll go to the REALLY GREAT Korean restaurant/bar, and sometimes we go to some of the classier Thai restaurants there are so many we literally have trouble making a decision sometimes where we want to go especially because Korat is a smaller city and all these awesome restaurants/bars are all close enough to get there by took took within 5 to 15 minutes. That’s another reason why I like living in Korat so much because it’s smaller but not too small and there are really nice outdoors things to do just a little bit outside the city out in the country like we did today at one of the lakes around here, and there’s a cool restaurant by the lakes as well where you can go swimming for hours and then come back take a shower and change and then order some food outdoors and a few beers. But this maybe getting off topic I believe this topic was about immigration originally.- 1

But it’s true the Thai economy is kind of in a downward spiral at the moment. But it can’t be that bad because their currency is finally starting to decline a little bit for the first time in a while since all the manipulation started.
-
If anything I’ve seen a lot more new businesses springing up including foreign owed restaurants/bars.

Even Hooters on beach rd is dead. The Song teaws are empty
If business is great then why bars, restaurants and shops are closing down?
Everyone i meet is complaining about slow business. Only you dare to distract the reality.
In 5 years here in Korat I’ve only seen one popular restaurant/bar close which was recently and that appears to be only temporary I believe.- 1

I think a lot of the people who complain about immigration probably mostly all live in cities like Bangkok, Chiangmai, Phuket obviously I’ve heard a few negative things about Phuket immigration that were legitimate problems earlier this year IF WHAT I READ ABOUT PHUKET IMMIGRATION WAS ACTUALLY TRUE. But a lot of the posts on here you really have to take with a grain of salt because a lot of it is way over exaggerated especially about immigration and some of the posts are just simply not true. So I really think immigration gets an unfair bad reputation sometimes. When I get my extension every year I always thank them for letting me live in their country because that is not necessarily a God given right. A Visa and an extension is permission from the Thai government to live here or visit here temporarily depending on what type of visa you’re on. I have been permanently living here on annual extensions since 2014 after I retired from the military and I still love it here. Before I retired here I used to visit here a lot 10 years ago so I’ve got about 10 years of experience traveling to and throughout Thailand and 5 years actually living here. So I know enough by now I’d say. But even now once in a while I still learn something new about Thailand even after all the years I’ve been living here and coming here.

You know I live in Korat and here immigration is pretty good and they’re not ever that busy because it’s a smaller city and a smaller office. Now I’ve been to immigration in Bangkok before as well and they’re extremely busy all the time probably every day because obviously it’s Bangkok so I think everyone at least understands that. But when I visited Bangkok immigration a long time ago I had to wait in line for a while but they provided good service still. But here in Korat our immigration office provides absolutely outstanding service. I’m happy with my local immigration office for sure. I haven’t seen every single immigration office all over Thailand so some people might have a point I don’t know but all of my experiences at immigration have been pretty smooth for the most part and friendly service and staff as well. But again that’s just been my experience I’m sure people have had legitimate problems before at immigration but I have never had any problems at immigration in 5 years of living in Thailand so I don’t have anything bad to say about immigration. How can I say anything bad about them when they’ve never done anything wrong to me they’ve always treated me well and respectfully. I’ve never had any issues with any of my extensions or 90 day reports.

“What’s really going on with Thailand immigration?” Well, as far as I can see is just business as usual. You renew your extension once a year if you’re like me and do your 90 day report every 3 months and that’s about it. So I guess that’s what’s going on with immigration.

I’m perfectly happy to promote the IDD program for the monthly income method because I am using it and it really is so much easier than doing it manually every month. Now it’s automatically Direct Deposited into my SCB account every month on payday. It’s really good and I hope everyone eligible for it is at least aware of that option.
-
That's some easy talk for someone who invented the production line.
Yeah I prefer using my monthly income because I’m not going to put $30,000 USD or really more than $10,000 USD in my Thai bank account. I’ll stick with my monthly income thanks, it’s more than enough anyway because I bring in over 100,000 baht a month into my Thai bank account. And that’s just one of my income sources. That’s just my VA Disability pension of more than 100,000 baht a month. I keep my military retirement pay and my wife keeps her Social Security income in our bank in the states as well as my Thrift Savings Plan and our savings in the United States. TSP is like a military IRA account which you can keep after retiring which I have and I’m still building it up it was a good decision to sign up for that when I was still a young Soldier 27 years ago and I still have my TSP.
I only transfer my VA Disability pension into my Thai bank account via the new International Direct Deposit program which I love! The IDD program is awesome and I highly recommend it to anyone who is eligible to use it if you are doing manual monthly transfers like I used to have to do. Now my Direct Deposit goes directly into my SCB account every month on payday once a month it’s really a great program. It saves me a lot of time trouble and money because it’s totally free with NO TRANSFER FEES OR LONG DISTANCE PHONE CALLS TO MY BANK!! [emoji106]- 1

Maybe I can book mark it on the main website I’ll try that. But I’m definitely keeping this information. I already took screenshots of the important stuff anyway so I have it even if I lose this topic on my device.

Hopefully this topic will help some people think about it a little more and hopefully will help people become closer to God no matter who you hold your God to be. But I may not identify with a specific religion but I ASSURE YOU THAT THERE IS MOST CERTAINLY A GOD.

Wow this topic has been going on for months now. But yeah I definitely believe in God. Very much so! I was raised Lutheran but I don’t necessarily identify with any specific religion because religion too often divides us all. But I MOST CERTAINLY DO BELIEVE IN GOD! And when you’ve seen some of the things that I’ve seen in life (LOTS OF THINGS), it kind of makes you know for sure that God does exist. But people can believe whatever they want although I can’t help but feel sorry for anyone who doesn’t believe in God. I especially feel sorry for Atheists that’s a really pessimistic view on life.

You do realize that you can bookmark this thread?
No need to keep posting to keep at the top of the forum so you can "find" it.
And calendars often work well for determining today's date.
Actually how do you book mark it lol. I really am trying to figure that out right now seriously lol. -
I mostly just use this forum for local information and any new changes. There’s one individual on this forum in particular who is a very smart guy who I often take advice from about immigration stuff and it’s very useful information to.Just about anything else one does other than participating in this forum is going to be better for you and more useful. Sometimes I vist other forums where carpenters and steel workers are talking about stuff they actually have some useful experience with. And give very useful advice. This forum is a wasteland compared to that. Good luck!- 1

Same. And that's a shame sensible, balanced people evacuate, leaving the field to the two extremes. Which is exactly what they want. Bummer. Take care.///
Yup, that’s exactly what they want which is why I can’t help but speak up sometimes. -

But I really don’t appreciate the hatred of our president whether you like him or not he’s still our elected President and I also often see on here an extreme hatred of America and Americans as well as a lot of extremists views. So sometimes it’s best for me to just ignore these discussions so I don’t get sucked into an argument or an emotional response. Because there are a lot of people on this forum who just love to bait people like me into dumb arguments and emotional responses. So I ought to just stay out of some of these discussions. It’s not like I’m gonna change anyone’s mind or whatever is in their heart especially if it’s hatred in their hearts. And I don’t mean this comment about anyone in specific on this topic but I haven’t read all of the posts and I probably don’t want to lol [emoji38]. I don’t hate anyone because it’s just not good for you inside hatred will just burn you up inside and life’s to short for that.
