I've been ordering pipe tobacco from the United States once or twice a year

So you continue to smoke to damage your respiratory system, your lungs, to make it easier for the Corona Virus to make you sick. Irresponsible! You'll be blocking a ventilator for someone else!

This is why tourism will not be coming back to Thailand anytime soon. It will continue to spread here, because of the complacency in which it is regarded.

Actually this is not correct. As it is too late to contain the virus, the remaining way to stop it is to have herd immunity, and to achieve that 60-70% of the population need to have been going through the infection.

If these guys there volunteer to go through it quickly, by ignoring masks and distancing and all that, fine, they will get through it faster, and then not spread it anymore.

If you don't want to join them, keep on your mask, wash your hands, etc etc. you know the drill by now. And thank them for trying to help Thailand to reach herd immunity faster ????

This Coronavirus, not being in any form a “human” virus (whereas we would all have some natural or acquired immunity). Took off like a rocket. And this was because, Humans have no known immunity...

So what? It works the same as with all other viruses, you get it, and acquire immunity. Most infected ones do not even notice the infection, but they acquire some immunity anyway. And there it is, now it is a "human" virus.

We really have no tools in our shed, with this. History has shown that fast and immediate closings of public places has helped in the past pandemics.

We have and always had a very effective "tool in our shed". It is our immune system. You might have heard from it. Same as with all the other pandemics, the spread of the virus stops when enough have acquired immunity. "History has shown that".

You can try to flatten the curve, that is all fine, but you have to go through it, and reach the required percentage of people having acquired immunity. Only then the virus will stop spreading.

And since we know that this virus attacks the lungs, may be focus on getting them in good shape. Stop smoking, reduce air pollution, exercise to increase your lung capacity.

  4. Prof. Dr. Stefan Hockertz, Immunotoxicologist at the UniKlinik Hamburg, is confirming immunity for at least 1 year in an interview March 25, 2020.

He actually says you can protect vulnerable persons by having a shield of immune people around them.

He is against lockdowns, but very much for improved hygiene, washing of hands, getting the supermarkets to clean the handles of shopping carts etc.

He sees a huge factor in the Italian death statistics because of a lack of hygiene in the hospitals there. Patients come to a hospital with a broken leg and get infected with an antibiotics resistant pneumonia there. Spain also. The immense pollution of the air in Northern Italy would be another factor.

New infections would stop once around 60% of the population had been infected.

And after that, having acquired some level of immunity, at least for the currently spreading Corona virus, being of no danger anymore to unknowingly and unwillingly spread the virus?

There was a TV interview on March 24 with Prof. Dr. Jan Felix Drexler, virus expert at Charite Berlin, interviewed by Prof. Lech, which basically confirmed that.

I took from a recording of that interview:

    • You get immunity for maybe a year, maybe longer.
    • And once 60-70% of the population went through this and acquired such immunity, the spread of the virus will slow to a stop.

Also, don't forget that a considerable proportion of common colds are caused by coronaviruses and you don't get immunity from the common cold by having had it.

The common cold is caused by many more or less different viruses, so I assume that immunity against one does not protect you from another one.

There seem to be at least 2 different Covid 19 causing Corona variations (S and L), so there again is the question if having had one could (at least temporarily) protect from the other, or not at all.

  7. The last thing I want to do is by unknowingly getting infected with Corona virus to spread it to others, especially loved ones or elderly or sick people around me.

Now, if I would get infected, after some time I would be through with it and would have acquired some kind of immunity, right? Being not too old, healthy and fit I assume I would have no or little symptoms.

What I'm wondering is if then I would not be at risk of spreading the Corona virus to others anymore? Possibly could even help and take care of others being infected and having complications? Possibly without needing very much protection for myself anymore, besides the washing of hand and face to avoid passing on any virus I might have picked up while being near infected ones?

If that would be the case, would it then not be a real possibility to get a controlled infection, and very strictly isolate myself (I could do so for many weeks, if needed) until I'm through it. And after that, having acquired some level of immunity, at least for the currently spreading Corona virus, being of no danger anymore to unknowingly and unwillingly spread the virus?

Of course I know that despite being healthy I might get complications, but that aside, does it work as I'm speculating above?

Seriously, please give some constructive answers.

Amazing! The country should be refused as a nation, for not accepting and taking care of their own. Just to open up, screen and check as well as transport them to isolation for 14-21 days. Shameful behaviour against it´s own citizens.

You did not get the facts correctly: Thailand closed the Aranyaprathet immigration checkpoint, not Cambodia. Thailand immigration does not process anymore anyone who wants to exit Thailand there.

That's not correct. Work Permits for 18 years. Retirement visas for 5 years. But he's switched between the two and tourist visas.

In most civilized countries, if you live there for 5 years or longer, you can apply for citizenship, or at least permanent residency, and get it. Especially if you are married to a citizen of that country. No need to juggle visas anymore.

In Thailand this is not really a realistic option, no matter how long you are here, no matter if you're married or have children, you're always at the mercy of an IO to let you back in, or not.
