everyone calls Myanmar, Burma go figure, don't lose sleep over it.

is that a new war, or are you digging up a relic from 50 years ago

No, not the ones that ain´t still stuck in the past. Today they learn the real name Myanmar in the schools, and it also stands in newly printed maps

Do you always call the capital city of Italy Rome? or Roma?

And you are saying that I am a sad person? Really, when you do not even understand what you are talking about.

What you compare is different languages used when stating the name of the capitol city. Roma is italian, and Rome is english/american.

What you should do is compare Bangkok and Silom that is a district inside the capitol city Bangkok. Do you say Silom instead of Bangkok?

i am sure you understand the big mistake you just made. Let´s just forget about it. ????

The Vietnamese dweller in HCMC may beg to differ.

"The former name Saigon is still widely used by many Vietnamese, especially in informal contexts. Generally, the term Saigon refers only to the urban districts of Ho Chi Minh City."

    Do your own wiki.

No need for any Wiki. If you would have done the same, you would know there are 19 urban districts and 5 rural district that binds together the Ho Chi Minh City. Out of the reason Saigon is one of the districts it can no longer be the city name. It was Saigon up until 1976, when it was lawfully changed to Ho Chi Minh City.

If it´s still widely used has no point. The only point that makes is that people do not keep up with the changes, which is extremely common and visible in this forum.

I call it Saigon on my frequent business trips there because 99.9% of regional taxi and minivan services call it exactly that. Even they can appreciate the linguistic economies of two syllables over five.

Can you spare us your opinions on the American War? Thanks.

The reason why they call it Saigon, is because they are using the name of the district you, probably, usually reside in on your business trips. That due to it´s the place where you find the old part of Ho Chi Minh City and most of the entertainment.

Regarding the spare thing. Well, I guess that´s a little late now. Isn´t it?

Old folks like me still call it Saigon and SGN is still the three-letter airport code. Don't call it Ho Chi Minh among the Viets in North America.

What you call it, is not at all important. There is no city with the name Saigon anymore. They have flights to Ho Chi Minh City, though.

Regarding the code, that´s just a three-letter code as you say, and is just something identifying the airport on an international level.

Why would you not call a city by it´s real name, just because you are, or are among, veterans in North America? USA has no reason nor any authority to engage in a war with Vietnam anyway.

Sure i know that now, and i won't eat is again....but what is it? California cheese is what the package says, but what do they call cheese in California?? Since there is no mold appearing it is still edible?? ????

    This is from Wikipedia:

    CALIFORNIA CHEESE FAMILIES OVERVIEW

California is USA’s leading milk production which supplied 1903000 metric tons of milk in year 2014. California is home to over 1450 dairy farms and 1.78 million milk cows. California’s more than 50 cheesemakers produce 250 different varieties and styles of cheese made exclusively from California milk. California can also supply various products made by real California Milk including milk, butter, ice cream, yogurt, milk powder, whey, etc. to fulfill market demand.

    Fresh (Unripened) Cheeses
Fresh cheeses, also called unripened cheeses, are young cheeses that have not been allowed to age. As a result, they have a shorter shelf life than aged cheeses and are freshness dated. They are typically soft and have a flavor close to that of fresh whole milk. These cheeses, like fresh milk, must be kept refrigerated. Store these cheeses tightly wrapped in a section of the refrigerator where they will not absorb flavors from other foods. Discard if signs of mold appear.

Just one comment to that one. I wouldn´t eat it.

My best advice will be, to stick to your good olé cheese you really know. ????

You still don't get it either I don't explain it correctly or you just dont want to get it.

Land can become protected after a purchase. You can buy land legally and then later the government can designate an area as protected. You then get compensated (or at least in many other countries). You usually get a compensation then. There are always way for a goverment to get land from people if they want too. There are processes for that.

So, then there is a big chance they already got compensated, and still using the land because nobody enforced it before, right?

There's always more to the story than you read in the press. Why would someone like the forest department suddenly turn up in an area which has never been under their purview, in an area that's certainly nowhere near any forest or any of their other managed land?

Because somebody made a report, and by law thatr has to be investigated.

As we are well aware of the systems for control doesn´t work and many times people working are too lazy to actually do their work.

That´s why I say that things must be reported. Otherwise it will be no change to things.

That's how they do it. Nothing is enforced for decades - so they all knew about this change back when it happened, then along comes a government like this one and suddenly everything changes.

I've seen something very similar happen to someone I know personally.

So, then you are saying they know and still use the land? Good that somebody eventually enforce then.
