In Malaysia I didn't see anybody riding scooters without a helmet and that leads me to believe same % have licenses too. I heard there were more police on the roads that would pull people over ... not so in Thailand. Here in TH the police mostly rely on roadblocks it seems. Anyone know why this is so between Thailand & Malaysia?

WRT police, Thailand should look at scooter rentals in Phuket, Pattaya, and Chiang Mai. In CM the police station themselves around Old Town specifically looking for rental scooters (with stickers on the bikes) and pull them over to check for Int. DL. Tourists don't like to be targeted. Why aren't scooter rental shops ensuring tourists have the proper license before renting the scooters? Why aren't scooter rental shops telling the tourists about helmet laws? Why aren't scooter rental shops telling tourists about local laws? In Phuket you aren't allowed to ride through underpasses. In BKK you aren't allowed to drive on fly-overs. In CM these aren't an issue. Police tell the tourists with infractions to walk to the local police station and pay the fine. Sure, some tourists will break the rules whether they are told at the rental shop. Then it's in their hands.

Thailand must be careful with importing seeds from US. The US, Monsanto is trying to get all nations hooked on their GMO seeds, blackmailed Thailand into buying their corn seeds before (as well as Mexico). These seeds must be bought every year and they destroy domestic crops (by cross pollination). US made is not always great ... someone brought up US beef and Australia has much better beef thus they won't import US beef.

Thailand imposes their Import Tax based on the price of the item + Insurance of item + shipping cost. Is this normal for other countries Import Tax? Doesn't Thailand include VAT on top of the Import Tax as well? Thailands " import de minimis" is still 1500 thb I believe or did this recently change?

With the Thai Gov going full ahead with casinos, I sent a msg to a Thai lady this morning suggesting she look into schools (offering certification) for "dealing cards". Sh*t happens when an iconic US brand gives its CEO to a European. Thailand HD is a joke. HD opened its factories to the public but Thailand "assembly" can't be bothered to open their factory even to HD owners. TIT Thailand HD dealers just go along with the Thai Gov too. The Gov put on an additional 100k thb tax on all new Harleys "just because they can afford it" and not a peep out of the dealers here. Dealers won't advocate for new laws to encompass big bikes on Thai roads either - riding in other than L lane in BKK, using BKK flyovers, using BKK bridges ... Most EU buyers don't even know most of their HD bikes come from Thailand now.
