It's good that efforts are being made to repatriate as many stranded people as possible.

However, this issue also highlights how little has been done to repatriate Thai’s and those others wishing to return home to Thailand.

Additionally, there is no reason that a person (foreign or otherwise) will be without medication while in the UK.

If this poor person is suffering from depression and requires ongoing medication after being stranded in the UK they can register with a local GP as a temporary resident and be seen by a GP (after an initial phone consultation) - their medical insurance will cover the cost of the visit and medication if necessary.

Yes i was surprised at no medication.uk is very good at treating ppl for free.i should know when my sister was in hospital many foreigners ad no insurance and the nurses just say what can we do we have to treat then

It’s a tricky one I have owned properties by way of Limited Company I have then sold / transferred my shares and purchased another property I have been doing it for 15 years with no issues myself and wife are directors she is farang as well and we have one Thai share holder who we are good friends with but when I came to live in Thailand I was only prepared to go down this road by telling myself it could all go belly up and I could lose every penny maybe I’ve been lucky as I’ve heard many horror stories but those were all foreigners who married Thai woman. You are only allowed to own a Condo outright anything else has to be either a Limited company or on a leasehold . Good luck with your decision

We are english couple and bought a house here with company

Had no problem what so ever when it came to selling.if fact a lot easier and quicker than in uk.

I first went to Koh Samui in 1984. Stayed at Lamai Beach in a bungalow with a palm frond roof. 50 baht per night for 2 people and another 50 baht each for 3 meals a day. It was magic. All the food was fresh caught in the sea or grown in their own garden. If I ordered a pina colada they would scramble up a palm tree to get a fresh coconut. Beautiful beyond words.

Sounds amazing it's a shame things like that change.some beautiful islands around Thailand then they  get to commercialised and spoilt.

If I decide to move to Malaysia or Japan can I have easy access to my 800,000 in SCB (if I have a destination bank?). Presumably I do this after I renew my Retirement Ext or at any time before the next due date. I guess there will be transaction costs.

I was worried about this because I read that only 50,000b can be taken out of Thailand. Do the banks alert immigration that PaulEddy no longer has the money which entitles him to renew his Ret. Ext? Am I here illegally, or am I just being paranoic?

On the same note, if I am determined to move, I will not need a re-entry permit. If I ever came on holiday I would simply get 1 month stay at the airport?

Not sure in baht but it used to be 15,000 in us dollars

    No.

    Inside where you are staying.

There are some outside seating places selling soft drinks.

So, if a person is desperate to drink outside, maybe buy a flask fill it with Sangsom and either guzzle it in the toilet, or wait till the staff is not looking and pour it in your Coke.

Done that lots of times ????especially when they are charging 200+ for a sinle shot

Congratulations "Gilltom", you just earned the smoked herring prize of the day! Now seriously, for a few moments. I have no idea where you could be coming from, but what you write here, and in your previous, erm, "post", when you would not be a thai national, would be hard to apologise for.

everyone has a right to a personal opinion, no doubt. But when you would stand on a stage and read out to the public what you wrote, and I would have been forced to be there, sorry for you, but I would have been throwing eggs, fruit, veggies in all levels of decay at your head. So distressing I find that waste of a babble of yours.

What are u talkimg about 'i was in agreement with thai government about isolation ????

You can't sensibly compare the economies of Vietnam and Thailand because they are both at very different stages of development and value. Vietnam's economy is still emerging and its GDP  is worth less than half of Thailand's USD 500+ bill., plus, Vietnam is suffering from almost 4% annual inflation compared to Thailand's sub 1%. A strong and stable currency such as the Baht is a sign of a strong economy, the Dong is not strong and stable.

Sure Vietnam can be cheaper as a holiday destination but there's no reason why Thailand should devalue its currency, just to attract a few British tourists. The real problem of course is that the Pound is extremely weak and until the whole Brexit affair is sorted out and new trade figures prove to the world that Brexit was actually worth it in monetary terms, nothing is going to change on the Pound Baht exchange rate, if ever.

There are still more than 40,000 Thai citizens trying to return to there homeland these people have to be repatriated and placed into quarantine for 14 days in a couple of days it will be June . My wife is stuck in the U.K. I will be amazed if she manages to get back to Thailand by the beginning of August if there is no hope of that I am considering pulling the shutters down on the house and returning to the U.K. and not returning until 2021 at the earliest thankfully we have a U.K. base. I cannot see the Thai authorities allowing flights to resume until they have repatriated all Thais and they are extremely slow in doing that at the moment

Yes thai's should be brought home first definately .but are they been cautious for isolation when they get here which is excellent .more than some countries SELF isolation what a load of <deleted> .well done Thailand for been more savvy.also think which country they are returning from plays a big part.Europe should be last on list

Repatriation flights are still happening so the OP's package could turn up at any time. All courier services are still working but Royal Mail doesn't use them.

FWIW, in pre WuFlu times, Royal Mail international tracked and signed from the UK would take 7-10 days depending if it caught holidays at either end.

I need to send some personal papers to uk but post office at banamper said 3 months .is EMS still sending mail.and would it get delivered in uk.millions of mail stacked high in royal mail depots
