  1. Don't see wifey cry too often but she was listenung to a song earlier by Tukkatan Chollada called Mee Kon Ngow Ror Yoo Ber Nee couldn't get no sense out of her at the time so thought someone here might translate title for me please

  2. I have accumulated 3 jugs of small baht (1,2,5). How do I go about changing this in at the bank? I know they had rolls for the banks and change machines located in grocery stores in the states.

    Thanks!

Why not just donate it to your local temple.

  3. Don't know if things have changed since 2006 when we got married but i had to go out of Thailand to get my non "o" (based on marriage) i was on a tourist visa before and received non o in Vientianne.

also believe that the 40k a month option is for the under 50's only and money in the bank if over 50

A Tourist Visa can be changed to a Non O Visa at Immigration if part of the proceass of applying for a 12 month extension.

The requirement for a Marriage extension is 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank OR 40,000 Baht monthly income.

Things really have changed then, December 2006 this was not the case. I wanted to go down the money in the bank route but was told that i couldn't as was under 50, and Chiang Mai imm. were quite adamant about me having to get my non "o" outside Thailand, the 3 month non "o" i received from the Thai consul in was only made up to a total of 12 months (inc the 3 months from Laos) with my income proven with a UK embassy confirmation letter.

  4. Then once married, can I just go to the Chiang Mai immigration to get my tourist visa changed to a non-imm visa?

  5. All I was trying to point out was that its not a necessity to leave Thailand to renew your non "O"

I wonder why you ignored my question directed to you personally, about the necessity to prove income or "money in the bank" when you renewed your Visa at Chiang Mai and insread, addressed your message to jamesthefirst who hadn't asked you a question?

OK just for you Asmerom :D:D

Yes you have to prove income if under 50 (as i am) for each new 1 year non "O" visa. :o

  6. Hi,

I've been in Thailand for a few years but have recently decided to uproot from Bangkok and live in Chiang Mai.

So far I like it here very much. It's so refreshing to live in a cooler climate to that of Bangkok, especially in the evenings, and the place is just, well, nice.

I will be renewing my Non O visa soon. Where do the majority of farangs in this city head to? People keep mentioning the Mai Sai border, but not sure if they have a Thai consulate on the other side. Failing that I'll probably head to Vientiane. Would like to get a flight either directly there (without bypassing Bangkok) or to Udon Thani. Can anyone tell me any airlines that go from Chiang Mai to either of those places direct?

Also, just had a pie and mash at the Red Lion. Not bad, but preffered the Sunday roast at The Pub last week. Have yet to check out the Queen Vic. Where are the best places to get some decent English food around here?

Please, your answers to the above questions would be greatly appreciated.

    Ta very much.

All i was trying to point out was that its not a necessity to leave Thailand to renew your non "O"

  7. I now have my new non o, and am content, as well as with being back in Chiang Mai, thank you.

Mae Sai, I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) is good only for the one month stamp. As far as I'm aware, there is no Thai Consulate on the other side, or even close to the border, which would be no good for me, as I need one of those outlets in order to apply for my Non O visa.

So looks like it's Vientiane again in three months...

Can we first clarify if this is a 1 year non imm. "O" based on marriage ?

If your visa is based on marriage then all you need to do is go to immigration in Chiang Mai and report every 90 days, and then re-apply (approx. 28 days) before that expires for a new non "O".

Really isn't complicated and unless a you are wanting to take a trip outside Thailand no need to go to Vientianne at all. If you do take a trip out of Thailand then you can extend the non "O" you have for approx. 1800 baht,

  8. It is you that is wrong dmax

Absolutely no reason to go back to UK for visa

I applied for and got my non imm. "O" (based on marriage) in Vientianne.

It seems jamesthefirst only wants to extend his non '0' Visa by 90 days so isn't MaeSai much the easier way to do that? As he's already booked his "twelve hour trip" the question doesn't arise for him but I'd certainly like to know, as I have to do my Visa run next month. Isn't it only 4 hours to Mae Sai? He did originally ask for the best/easiest/most popular way to go.

Jamesthefirst says he is renewing his non "O" which i did at Chiand Mai Immigration.

So unless the rules have changes since March this year then i can see no reason to have to go anywhere else for this purpose alone.

  9. john said u can renew ur 1 yr o visa from rangoon or singapore ...i think he is mistaken ,,,as far as i am conserned u need to go back to uk to do that !!!

It is you that is wrong dmax !

Absolutely no reason to go back to UK for visa !

I applied for and got my non imm. "O" (based on marriage) in Vientianne.

  10. Can anybody advise as to how many months of financial records are required to support a application at the British Embassy, Bangkok for Settlement in United Kingdom, i.e, bank statements, and in this case invoices.

I have trawled through all the government websites but cannot see where they specify how many months of financial evidence they require.

    Thank you in anticipation

We put in 3 months worth of each in June this year which was enough to get my wife her settlement visa.

  11. In the UK on settlement visa and trying to get a UK bank account.

There are no utilitity bills in her name here in the UK, the only address letter she has is a letter from the NHS (Medical Card) and no need or intention to work.

All other documentation from Thailand eg. bank/credit card letters are in Thai.

Is it possible for her to get a UK bank account ?

  12. Nowi live in thailand15 years.i stay with my grandmother.my mom marriage with uk guy.thery have plan to help me for live there .Now i am 19 years old .

    thank you for reply

You will need to give more details about yourself and husband for people to be able to help.

You are 19 but live in Thailand for 15 years ? are you Thai ?

Would probably be a good start.

  13. There is a a travel agent in Tha Phae Rd on the right coming from the river she did our internal flight tickets, I am sure she does international flight tickets also. hope that helps.

Really nice lady there at Goodman Travel, 12-14 Thapae Road Tel 053 874350-5 called Poppy got me and the wife 1 way tickets Chiang Mai-Bangkok (Air Asia), Bangkok-Manchester (Etihad) June this year for total price of 42,500 baht inc taxes. Very helpful and friendly she will barter on price and give cash discount. Advise would be to find lowest internet price and ask her to match or better.

  14. As promised by UKVAC we had a telephone call from them yesterday 26th and told that we had been granted the settlement visa on it was on its way to us in Chiang Mai by courier should be able to collect by Tuesday 1st July.

First time application... 70 hours from putting in paperwork to getting the visas ok call.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank this forum and everyone that has helped me and so many others through these stressful and successful visa applications.

  15. I use TOT's broadband service on my desktop. My router says: billion adsl router on it.

How do i find my configuration?!

I had exactly the same problem up to 2 weeks ago but it was fixed by tech services quickly. Call 1100 and tell them whats happening, they sorted this out for me in minutes.

You can find your config out by typing in 192.168.1.1 into the address bar at the top and then go. It will come up with a sign in box type admin in name box and tot in password box this lets you see all the technical jargon.

I would advise tho not to change anything without their assistance

    Hope this helps

edit----I also have a billion router mmmmmmmmmm
