  1. My wife and i are currently living in Chiang Mai but looking to move to Khorat to be closer to family within the next 2-3 months or so.

Can anyone advise us please of properties to rent (up to about 15,000 month) or agencies etc. there.

I have googled just about every combo of Khorat/naknon ratchasima/Isaan/property/house/real estate etc.etc.etc. but come up with nothing.

We are travelling to Khorat Friday 13th to look round for a week or so but would appreciate every little bit of help we can get.

    Many Thanks in advance

  2. If the airport bus is still running you can get on that to Central airport Plaza for 10 baht each where you can always get a songteaow or tuk-tuk to any part of town for 50-60 baht. But is it worth the hassle for 40ish baht ?? Better with a taxi i think even if 120 baht (although i have never paid more than 100 baht) from airport to anywhere downtown.

  3. Had the ribs at Tuskers tonight and like everything else about this my favourite drinking establishment they were TOP NOTCH.

Excellent food, Excellent service, BEER LAO and a terrific host what more could a man ask ?

I totally agree, in fact i have made it a regular weekly treat. Although ribs were included in the Friday night, all you can eat, buffet so i may have to make it a twice a week treat this week!!! Maybe see you in Tuskers some time Princealbert.

I believe we have already met and have talked. I am normally a Friday night warrior at Tuskers and enjoyed a beer or two or G & T as the case may be.

Well from that information i would say that we have already met! See you this Friday then?

Depends what day the outlaws sorry i mean the inlaws arrive this weekend but i will endeavour to join you and your partner in crime for one or three of the said beverages, but starting to feel a little guilty about the amount of free beer we are getting.

The cards have been very kind lately :o

  6. I have a small house ... 3 bedroom two bath, garden and carport and I pay 5K a month. Do some research and I am sure you can find what your looking for.

I'll be moving back to CM from Phayao soon, at least part-time, & I'm looking for something like this north of the city (Mae Rim, Mae Jo, San Sai). I have time to look around those areas on the weekends, but it'd be nice to narrow my search a bit if possible. Can anybody recommend a specific moobahn outside the city to the north?

Pimuk 1 and Pimuk 2 close 5ish km from the city j/o Mae Jo road 2 km to Rimping (farang supermarket) and mechock fresh food market also on Mae Jo road is Land and House (5k-50k a month) 8-10 km to city but prices will be higher than 5k a month unless you are prepared to live in a small town house. Also 2-3 houses for rent on the moo baan i live on Wong Bua Tong 12ish km from city on Mae Jo road. There are always houses for rent signs up around Mae Jo. Land and House is probably the most secure and best kept of all and has all the facilities you will need eg mini mart/food stalls/laundry/gym/snooker tables/sauna etc etc and the best communal swimmimg pool i have seen on any moo baan, but all of this obviously comes at a price 10-12k minimum for nice house with garden 20-25k+ if you want this with all the extras.

  7. Hi there

I saw this winged insect next to my house the other day. I've never seen anything like it either in real life or on TV - and I've watched a lot of nature programmes. Asked some of the seasoned locals about it, but no-one had seen anything like it before.

So can anyone either tell me what it is or perhaps direct me to a site that might have info on this. Bizarre.

    Many thanks.

Thais call this a "gai far" translations apparently means sky chicken we get dozens of them in our mango trees.

  8. Maybe I missed it, BUT where is Taaaaaaaas Place ?? I mean his drinking etc., establishment

On this thread there is a map for Haven

    Chiangmai Magicians Club Meet Up

Will be down there to share a beer or three with Max sometime this weekend :o

PS/ The link doesn't seem to work ????????

  9. I have always believed that if there is nothing good to say then better nothing said

    BUT

My first visit to Le Spice wasn't the culinary experiance i expected after reading 1 or 2 posts here, saying that i had gone with a couple of friends after a night out drinking so put it down to "the beer" affecting my judgement and taste buds.

Last night decided to take the wife there and sober believing it couldn't really have been that bad after reading posts again on this thread but it really was that bad ! We had a biriyani, a vindaloo, safron rice, saag aloo, and a couple of naans none of which resembled anything i have eaten in any Indian restaurant anywhere before maybe the rice would pass as OK.The staff were friendly the atmosphere was good the place clean and inviting BUT the food at Le Spice was the WORST Indian food i have ever tasted.

Just my humble but HONEST opinion

Could you try the Chedi for me please? :o

Will be dining out Monday evening so The Chedi could be the place for us to try next.

    Where is it ?

What type of food do they do ?

ps/ Thanks to your recommendations The Dukes is one of our favourite regular eateries now, always good food, good atmosphere and recommend to all and everyone i know.

  11. My friend arrives Bangkok this week to marry his Thai girlfriend but is not sure where the nearest Amphur office is to Silom.

Could someone please advise me of the address

    Many Thanks

  12. on the side note -

    The words friends

    to me

Friends is the train ticket for you to be speaking truthfully .

meaning you need not be another person or out to impress anyone .

if you look at the existing world now ..

is really large Nest of schizophrenia,

you get people being multi or split personality.

we are one person at home . another person infront of this group or that group of friends .

is just natural instint - for human to be defencsive and being another person make us feel safe .

    - well that is at least when i was in singaapore -

when i am here in thailand - i learn to be who i am . and for a start i can say is scarey -

to speak what i feel and then do what i think is right is a whole new thing . and whole new world to me .

and it took me a while to even got used to it .

in fact offen my ego and pride as well as shame will stop me from doing many thing which i think is correct .

and i worry alot about how people look at me .

so i peel my onion slowly and now i more or less is the Ta22 you see .

    ok back to friends .

well - i learn that you got to love your friends . cos love does not just apply to your wife or girlirends or lover or parent .

well i am a person who i felt lack love - so in order to get love you got to give love .

    love is not money .

money buy you time and people sitting around you or sleep beside you .

but love is a whole difefrent topic -

for a starter is a feel that will fill you with happiness knowing someone care for you in the REAL sence

    - i love my finger workout . even when is full of wrong spelling

    friends - see , i off tracked again .

i can be a real pain sometime cos i can go on and on to get the idea to you . so i really enjoy - debate

well debate is too string a word to us ..

more like an heat up exchange of idea which is pushing the human understanding to the next level .

the world is not as pure as we used to know and new evil is make up each day to find excuse for wrong doing .

we can't clean up the mess alone don't we .

the world used to be one , and now we have kingdom which draw line to different border .

human used to be just human . now we are all difefrent but we are really all the same .

we eat , sleep . shit , and everyone shit smell as bad ..

i had alway been keen in understanding myself , so the best way to do so . is to know more people

cos i believe that since human is the same . everyone around you is a mirror of yourself . and a possible you .

when i see a killer - i think to myself - that person could be me if i want too . or in anyway forced too .

when i see some hero - i ponder .. hmm if gaven the place and time can i be that person ..

when i look at thriller - i imagine sometime if i am at the wrong place wrong time - i would be the victim .

so in simple we are really just a walking clone of another person - guiven the right place right time - right action .

we really end up being the same person .

maybe different in detail . but resulting in a overall action which we had branded is for easy refering .

" killer . hero , victim - oh not to forget " onlooker"

human is also complex . so complex that we c\don't even understand many of our action .

we get angry for some weird reason . sometime which we can't even explain . well science try to explain some of it but sometime alot of thing is best leave unexplained to some extent .

    the cycle of life .

life is so wonderful that the mere instant and moment that passes you is a gift itself .

so don't waste it on sadness -

yes yes yes bad thing happen .

    eg. earthquake

but earthquake is good thing to some people . it mean work , profit and income for his family ,

    just like war .

during a war - large amount of money is going around .

while some place is being bomb and destoryed - some place is being build from the money that is made from selling bomb and bullet as wella s clothes for the army , food for the army , cars , tanks , gun , the mass logistical cost - is so huge that it would take you months to sit down to count the money used .

    notthing is good .

well Good is really time restricted .

what is good now will not be good forever .

what you want is to get the better side of you to be in the memory of others .

so what you do is what you are or at least what others see you to be .

Sin is really like oxygen .

i myself had many conflicting belief for the words sin .

to kick in a line or to , SIn is like teacher .

you learn from your teacher . and a good teacher show you how it done .

you don't alway use what you learn . sometime . knowing thebad relaly help you to understand the value more .

not that i am telling you to sin . or something like that is really up to your choice and it does or does not relaly matter do me .

    we love excuse .

    don't we ? cos that who i am :D

i got so so off tracked .

when all i want to say was .

thanks for being my friends :D

Such words of wisdom and honesty are rarely spoken.

Ta22 you truely are the chosen one :o

  13. My telephone provider has now informed me the broadband is available in my area :D so now i can hopefully cut my 10-12,000 baht a month phone bill down by getting a VOIP provider.

Now i am no techy so would like to hear from people that know "What to do next" apart from the obvious dont use the phone ! :o Unfortunately i have to call my business in the Uk every day sometimes for long periods.

I should get my broadband router next week.

    So here's my questions

Recommendations as to who are the best VOIP providers ?

Do i buy VOIP box locally or get from VOIP provider ?

Can i use my house phone/do i need a different type of phone ?

Downloading software :D whats all that about ?

Sorry if these sound like stupid question but as i said i am no technical expert and would like suggestions, experiances and a liitle help with this please

Or maybe is there someone out there that can come and help me do this "for a fee of coarse" ?

    Many thanks in advance :D

  14. I'm looking for an automatic, preferably not too old (2-4 y.old would be great).

Anyone know where to get it from?

    Cheers,

    WoZ

Every sunday behind Romchok market (near Rimping supermarket) on the Mae Jo road there are 100+ bikes of all sizes to choose from to suit every budget 5k and up.

I bought an 18 month old jrd 125 storm automatic with 7km on clock with all paperwork for 15k. Never had a problem with it .

    Hope this helps

  15. Thanks guys.

I guess the job for the missus is out the window. Sounds like a lot of hassle.

Good news on the UK embassy. That has put my mind at ease a bit.

Next problem will be how long it takes to process the extension application. My vise runs out on the 8th jan but I have to leave for work on 24th December. Will 2 weeks be enough to process it?

Can only give you an account of how things happened for me but i had to wait almost 6 weeks.

I took my application for extension in on 23rd Feb and told to go back 4th April for a decision.

We had a visit from immigration on 27th of Feb to see our marriage was genuine although imm. officers only spoke with the neighbours wanting to know if i was a problem to the community.

I though that this was the deciding factor so went to get my decision a week later but told no dice and to come back 4th April as first told.

  16. I am still going to try the UK embassy to get a letter confirming my income but as it is a work related salary, not a pension, I dont know if they will do it.

Its so much bloody hassle this, seeing as I more than qualify for the rules. If that doesnt work then I guess its off to Singapore again.

No need to be off to Singapore you should be able to get your work related salary confimation letter from the UK embassy/consulate.

Received my salary (not pension) confirmation letter from UK consulate in about 3 hours with

    1) A letter from my employer (me) stating position and salary.

    2) 1 Western Union transfer slip showing more than the 40,000 a month as required.(although i had taken previous 3 months just incase)

    3) 1,763 baht fee.

Really was so simple and no hassle at all.

    Hope this helps Good Luck

  17. Must be different cities different rules

Got my Bangkok Bank account without request to see a visa in Sept. last year with no problems.

Then my 90 day non O based on supporting thai (marriage) in Vientiane in Jan. without being asked about a bank account.

And my 1 year non O in Chiang mai in April again without being asked about a bank account.

Glad i am here in C.M. everything was so easy

But why so different ??? :o

  18. Must have been total carnage :o

Just passed the junction on way home from the market and far too many white outlines for there not to be serious casualties 1 of which looked like they had to draw round 2 motorcycles on top of each other.

    Hopefully there were no fatalaties

  19. Um..i suspect that it is a wind up.... I received a pm from josephdeka which i took time to reply to in detail and then received a reply. (I wont disclose what it was about for incase it is not a wind up..and would be wrong for me to post personal information). Needless to say it involved something that costs quite a bit of money. After reading his threads about wishing to be frugal etc..it doesnt seem to make much sense to be honest... :o

Got to be a wind up the Liposuction in Thailand thread

    Liposuction in Thailand

    confirmed it for me :D
