    This is a great shame.

It is also another opportunity for the Thai bashers to get on their high horses. I have just, literally 10 minutes ago, been reading on the BBC news about how this happens every few days in the US.

you think this is an opportunity for thai bashing, you need to wake up we are in Thailand if you didn't know, this is a tragedy caused by a thai.yes it is a great shame which shouldn't have happened,so try bashing your head against the wall before you get on your high horse to make the above comment.

I wouldn't say every few days in the US but certainly every summer in the US no-brained parents leave their kids in the car in the sun and even for less than an hour if it's hot enough, they'll die. There are stupid people everywhere. It's a low level of education that's the problem.

    From the BBC today

"Every few days in the US, there are local media reports about young children dying from heatstroke, or being rescued, after being left to bake in parked cars. Why does it happen so often? "
    And
"the number of tragedies has remained on average at about 38 deaths a year for the past decade"

  2. When I first decided to come and live in Thailand I learnt the alphabet, the sounds, and the tones. I learned how the tone marks work with diffrent classes of consonants. So, before I came her I could read and write all the consonants and vowels plus some words. After moving here I went to a language school and saved a lot of time as I didn't need to learn what I had already learned.

I will never consider myself to be fluent (after all, who dictates what is fluent?) as there are always new words to learn. I can have a reasonable conversation and if I need a new word I can soon learn it. I also enjoy learning so I suppose that helps too.

Mind you, sometimes people expect me to know even more. Last night a girl asked me to translate the Thai word ritseeduaang. I asked her, how many falangs would know the Thai word for haemorrhoids? It is nice to surprise people sometimes.

  3. My daughter in the UK sent me an iPhone for Christmas. The assisrtant explained that it was so expensive becuase the UK Royal Mail had so many fraudulant claims about missing phones, parcels posted without a phone inside. When she knew there was a real iPhone in the parcel she chaeged a lot less. It was sent on Christams Eve and despite the Christmas and New Year holidays I received it here on January 2.

In thirteen years I have never failed to receive a letter or a parcel.

  4. I have done it on both my eyes. I went home to my home country Sweden and did it. Mainly because it doesn't cost anything to do it. Even if I belive they do the operation good here in Thailand. I don't like that they sometimes operate both eyes at the same day here. In my country that's a big No No

I have never heard of both eyes being done at the same time. It should never be done. Always do one eye and wait until everything is OK before doing the second.

Another poster mentioned his mother having a general anaesthetic for a cataract operation. That is very unusual.

  5. So tight that even a TGAU would not be enough.

OK Khun Tony ... I Googled TGAU ... and no obvious answers.

    I have no idea.

Call me Dumb ... what does that mean?

Yeah coon tony, do explain !

TGAU stands for Tystysgrif Gyffredinol Addysg Uwchradd (Welsh: General Certificate of Secondary Education; UK).

Only saying, that is all. Otherwise I have no idea either.

  6. If you are not allowed in, how can you be deported?

    Okay - you're a pedant - I get it.

I disagree. There is a difference. Being denied entry will mean that you can fly to wherever you choose. Being deported means that you can only fly to your own country. When a friend of mine was deported and I went to see him at the Immigration Detention Centre in Bangkok I discussed it with the officials there to see if they would let him fly to Cambodia. They said they they would only allow him to fly on one of the airlines that will take deportees and only to the UK.

  7. There are two qualified European chiropractors in Pattaya. Both are well reccomended by people who have needed to see them. Two friends of mine have had excellent results. One works from early morining to evening and he is fully booked for days in advance.

I would strongly suggest seeing one of them before going to a hospital where you will have all sorts of expensive tests, and certainly before undergoing any type of surgery.

  8. The OP wrote "Since 99% of all Thaigirls have Iphone just get her icloud login."

That negates the veracity of the rest of his post at it is obviously incorrect.

He also wrote about what she does with his money. It isn't his money if he has given it to her. It his her money.

As for bringing a Filipino over and saying that he might find the "Right one!" I suspect that he will never find the right one, he doesn't really want one.

If anyone installed tracking apps on a phone, without the other person's knowledge or permission, in some countries he could be arrested for stalking.

Finally, when he goes to Sweden or some other country why should a girl here believe that he will come back. I have heard many blokes promise to come back and see the girl, lying isn't restricted to men or women of any nationality.

  9. It is interesting to read that most posters here are writing about how to get a visa or extension by circumventing the requirement for a Griminal Records Check. None of you know what the offence was.

However, as it was 35 years ago it will be considered spent, except for certain job applications in the UK, and will not be mentioned on the report. It may depend on the secerity of the offence and whatever the punishment/sentence was.

  10. I think this topic needs to be debated at length so we can get an idea of what to expect.

Firstly prices have gone through the roof and that includes LT asking prices 1500 BF 4500 LT which I use as the economic cornerstone for Pattaya . . . It's almost cheaper in Europe now. When prices are even we can expect them to level out at the least.

Anyway I have a background in Economics so I was surprised then prices increased faster with decreasing demand

    I believe this is why

Let's take the UK for example . . After recession hit In 2009 we saw inflation on goods and services go up to the highest level for many years. 6-7%

    1. This is because people and business try to match falling demand with higher prices

    2. this works for a short period as customers have savings and people will in turn continue to pay more to maintain there standard of living.

    3. After some time people run out of money and only then stop buying.

    4. Then one of 4 things tend to happen. Business aether go bust or drop there price to become competitive or the currency devalues. If the currency is pegged/ or a single money is used like in Europe and currency can't devalue the service quality reduces or prices fall which is more damaging.

    Conclusion

I would expect that is this continues there may just be hope that we could return to a cheeper and less tourist saturated pattaya .... But then again who knows with Thailand it seems to have a mind of own.

    Any thoughts?

Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

I was quoted lower prices than you just last week. Two girls, both known to me, said "BWPattaya, pay bar for me, I go with you for 500 Bt."

You were either in somewhere catering for rich Japanese or Koreans, or they saw you coming.

  11. I really hate cockroaches, filthy disgusting creatures. That has got that off my chest..............

When I had a new bathroom built on the side of my house I would find one or two several times a week. I made sure all drain plugs were used to close access. They still got in. Sticky pads caught them, but that doesn't stop them coming in. One day, about three years ago, my wife saw one coming in through one of the holes at the bottom of the toilet where it would normally have a screw fastening it to the floor. It was sunk into concrete with tiles all around so it didn't need screws. Plugged that hole and never saw another one.

To the OP, buy a large can of termite and cockrach killer with a long nozzle, spay it into every crack, crevice, hole of any kind that you can find. Repeat daily until they have been eradicated.

    Then spray it all again.

    Good luck.

  12. What I got from the answers to this is simple. People here enjoy their privacy.

apparently so..that way they can continue to be keyboard warriors without any worry at all about anyone ever knowing squat about them

So says the member named "Smurkster" with the profile data:

    • AgeAge Unknown
    • BirthdayBirthday Unknown
    • Gender mystery.png.pagespeed.ce.yVEHjFjYy3.png Not Telling

You beat me to it! I was just about to check the OP's profile. Basically he/she is asking everyone to publish details without offering anything about him/herself.

In a previous topic started by him he does say that he lives in Nongbualamphu, is 25 years old and married to a Thai girl.

  13. I see many people in threads like this advising someone to get a lease or a usufruct on properties so that they cannot be thrown out of their homes in the event of a divorce. What I haven't seen is someone asking the question "Do you really want to live there?" Would the OP in this case really want to live in Lampang if he didn't know this girl? Who in their right mind would choose to live in, perhaps, an Isaan village all alone, with an ex-wife nearby who wants her house back.

If you can write the money off then give it to her. If it will make you unhappy after you have lost the house then don't give it to her

  14. Its seems to me that the municipality is to be partly blamed for the wide spread disrepair of the roads which result in accidents from people hitting potholes and this idiot is to blame for being just plain stupid. At least he seems remorseful which is probably more than the municipality.

I disagree. If you are a good rider, you adapt your riding to the conditions. You cannot just blame pot holes for excessive speed and being a ****.

I totally agree. That pothole, and many others, should encourage safer riding. Irresponsible speeding on a small soi is really stupid. I have no sympathy for him. More sympathy for the bloke with a possible fracture, and the owners of the damaged vehicles.

  15. Not specifically about retirement but life in general.....

“The most unfair thing about life is the way it ends. I mean, life is tough. It takes up a lot of your time. What do you get at the end of it? A Death! What's that, a bonus? I think the life cycle is all backwards. You should die first, get it out of the way. Then you live in an old age home. You get kicked out when you're too young, you get a gold watch, you go to work. You work forty years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement. You do drugs, alcohol, you party, you get ready for high school. You go to grade school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities, you become a little baby, you go back into the womb, you spend your last nine months floating...

...and you finish off as an orgasm.”
