  3. Hi,

I am considering partnering with a friend to bring a television show into the land of BKK and want to gather some initial feedback (for those of you in the know or even, not in the know). First off, can this be done? With the media giants and censorship, how open would networks/channels be willing to bring in a new show? I would suppose it would be all contingent on content, but I'm curious to see if there are any independent tv shows out there or are they all bought by the network?

Is it even possible for some foreigners to to do this? I'd have a Thai partner go into this with me as well. Any initial feedback would be great. Its a big obstacle and unfortunately gaining any significant insight in English is quite difficult. Also, I'm not worried about the logistics of the program (they can be dealt with), just the intial question of if it is EVEN possible. Keep in mind, this show is already a successful show in SEA, but is not broadcast in Thailand.

    Thanks in advance.

Yeah, but umm let's see.... what kinda of media you want to use? what kinda of public you want to have... and ummm do u want it to be in cable? or local tv? in english or thai? what kinda of show its?? talk show? entertainment???

I can't really hv an opinion of what do you want to do if I dont really know what do you want :D

    hehehe..

    :o

  4. she apparently UNDERSTANDS English ... she reads and writes ... but like many people here has trouble speaking it.

Doesn't mean you don't have conversations ... just means that to be succesful in the USA she'll need better skills.

Plus it should be noted the OP doesn't say that he doesn't speak Thai.

I do not count myself as fluent in Thai and have friends that are not fluent in English ... but we converse regularly!

well maybe he speaks thai...(I was thinking about that while ago) ... but he does not say it.. ummm but he does say that she dont really speak english.. so maybe they write each other 55555555......

yeah right I know im fcking sarcastic.. :o

  5. Hello everyone, I will be getting married in a few months, and I am in need if an English language school for my fiance. She has a Masters degree, and writes English reasonably well, but needs conversational English. We will be moving to the US and I don't want her overwelmed by the language. Does anyone Know of a good quality school in the bkk area, she actually lives in Bangplad. A school within commuter distance would be great.

    Thanks,

umm Im just asking to my self how you can get married with someone who cant really hv a conversation in english.. how?? :o

  6. The angels moving their beds as the storm approaches.

The frozen beer that melts before you can drink it.

The rumbling whoosh of the giant fan on the ceiling (air conditioning is for sissies).

Zip-zap, svit, as the mosquitoes commit harikari on the electric guard surrounding the blue light (sissies also like mosquito nets on their windows).

The thundering of the rain on the tin roof.

Crouching, exposed to an encyclopedia of insects as one tries to evacuate a plate full of curry (chillies burn just as much on the way out as on the way in).

Fighting with the hose pipe whilst cleaning a hairy farang arse.

Shaving and showering in a cold Thai bath.

Paddling around the outside of the house, drinking a cup of coffee at 5.30, watching the sunrise.

Sitting on the veranda, waving at a smiling world as it awakes and goes about its business.

A day full of conversation and never ending eating.

    The first glass of Lao.

    An afternoon in the hammock.

    Begin again.

These are a few of my favourite things.

hahaha I love your text.. but I strongly desagree... something can really be better than sex???

do you really think so?? hahaha I don't!! :D:o

  8. I’ve been in business more than 7 years now in Pattaya and Phuket….and I’ve been pissed off so many times that I can’t even count’em! :D

Maybe the term “pissed off” is a bit too harsh….but let me explain what I mean:

You have a property or a business for sale.

You advertise this in different spaces, either online or in print media.

You get tons of responses….and here the “problems” start:

Many responses are from curious “farangs” with dreams in their eyes but no money in their pockets to actually purchase your offer. “Time wasters” to use a well-known term.

I bet we all know them…and I bet we all hate them! Am I wrong? :D

These time wasters all pretend they’re interested, and maybe they really are, but how on earth will they ever pay for your property/business!! They very well know they don’t have the money, so why the h… waste the time of serious foreign business men who just try to make an honest living? Why the h… make the business man think that he “has a sale” and then just “disappear”….in other words….they often make the foreign business man think they has a sale and then they just stop replying to your phone calls, emails and SMS messages…like they’ve vanished from the surface of the earth! :o

As a professional business man you know very well the importance of follow up emails, SMS messages or phone calls…

You do some follow up…. But in most cases you get no response at all…

When you get response you can’t help thinking that you now “have a sale”.

At least you hope so! Even the toughest business man with many years of experience can’t help feeling kind of excited each time he gets a positive response even though he very well ###### know that this is possible just another dammed time waster…..! :D

Back to my question: What is wrong with foreigners in Thailand?

Why do they keep pissing you off?

    Yes….why??

    I have often wondered why!!

There might be a simple explanation, but so far I’m still waiting for the answer!

    Some answers could be:

    - The guy is lonely? He just needs someone to talk to!

    - The guy is just dreaming? “If I had the money I could buy this property/business!”

    - The guy is envious? “Why does everyone except me have a property/business?” So it’s maybe only a kind of “revenge”…? “Make the life of those lucky bastards with properties/businesses a h_e_l_l…..” ????

    - The guy is simply lying to himself? “I take a look at this property/business because I know I’ll get the money to buy it soon…”….

    - The guy is just a simple looser? The only way he can get some “content” in his life is to make other people feel like losers!? A saying goes: “Do to others as you want them to do to you!” . But those losers change the context: “If you’re a looser, make others feel like losers, too!” :D

Bet there are many of you who’ve been in contact with time wasters…what is your best bet? Why do people act like this? :D

I have met all of the above mentioned time wasters….if any of you time wasters read this please let us all know why you act like this!? Thanks in advance! I don’t expect any responses! :D

But one thing I want to tell all of you time wasters! “Keep away from me! I have better things to do!” :D

It is the most stupid thing I ever read in my life..

and talks really bad about you, you should put your company name too!! then we can all know where we DONT have to call..

  9. The question is so hypothetical it is impossible to answer conclusively.

I'd say anything is possible, despite the class system - but it would be fairly unlikely. When hiring for Front Desk and Sales, a rather high importance is placed upon looks.

    I 100% agree with that... :o
