Some provinces are yet to make an announcement regarding an extension to alcohol bans but it is highly likely any ban will be extended to April 30 for all provinces nationwide.

Sounds like Thailand need to open plenty of AA clubs ....... forget about drinking & driving that’s just stupidity ! Businesses will close as a result of this ban. Still don’t believe enough being done to test people for the virus ‘ banning alcohol sales for a further 2wks just wrong when other countries around the world are just making people stay at home without alcohol bans. Next Thailand will ban food delivery’s

  2. makro need to learn about health and safety “ visited the local store recently as love my steak - majority of the steaks were full of blood and water / cannot refreeze the meat - Contamination !
    -

asked the staff why selling frozen meat in a fresh counter and they looked at me as though i had 2 heads ..... anybody’s who’s worked with food know you cannot mix fresh and frozen meats together unless you want to be ill ... that said the fruit & veg selection was loverly and fresh and i would like to see more Thai produce being offered up instead of these dodgy imports.

Foreign visitors whose visas expired on 26 March, 2020 or thereafter will be granted automatic visa extensions until 30 April, 2020, and extensions for notification of staying in the Kingdom for those whose expiry date of stay permit falls within the period between 26 March – 30 April, 2020. However, when the situation improves or returns to normal, they are required to proceed with their visas within the period specified by the Immigration Bureau.

I’m confused that said I am English ????????

Arrived SETV February 26th with visa ending April 25th in which you would normally apply for further 30 day extension.... taking me up to my departure being may 21st flights permitting. reading this article now suggest I don’t need to apply ? Is that correct or have i been on the sauce for too long

As of yesterday, Thailand has done 25,000 tests.

    Italy had done 691,000 tests.

The true picture of this tragedy is yet to be seen.

    Source worldometers.info

With a population of almost 69.5 million people living in Thailand 25,000 tests shows there’s not being enough done to prevent the virus. Was reading facts from W.H.O ( world health organization ) and C.D.C ( centre for disease and control ) saying that by wearing face masks is pointless unless your caring for a sick relative.

Yet Thailand insist we wear them if not we can be fined. We need more clarity and less scaremongering ( stay safe people ????

  5. Immigration desperately needs a revamp “. Many purchase the necessary visas before arriving,. Sadly covid19 worrying for many people abroad with elderly parents or family members back home,. Nobody should be benefiting from a world wide disaster, whether that’s immigration or airlines ! Those with a Thai family should not be paying for visas - simple as that ‘ if so a yearly fee applicable,. there actually part of there local community, spending money and without them it would be worse. Hope immigration starts showing respect to the foreigner “ we’re here because we love the country that don’t mean we like all the rules. Working together creates a good harmony - stay safe people ????

  6. This is down to the incompetence of the Thais who refused to be screened and checked upon arrival to suvarnabhumi airport.

e, Facebook page and Twitter feed.

Following an incident at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport on the evening of April 3 in which disgruntled returning Thai nationals refused to be quarantined, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand  (CAAT) has announced an immediate temporarily ban on all passenger aircraft arriving at airports in Thailand from 4 April (beginning at 00:01) to 6 April (ending at 23:59).  Exceptions to this rule are: 1) state or military aircraft; 2) aircraft that make an emergency landing request; 3) aircraft that make a technical landing request, where passengers do not leave the aircraft; 4) humanitarian aid, medical and relief flights; 5) aircraft authorised for repatriation; and 6) cargo aircraft.  Passengers on aircraft that departed from the port of departure prior to the entry into force of this announcement will be subject to 14-day quarantine.

These changes will affect more flights. Passengers are advised to maintain contact with their airlines for updates.

  7. Takes a week for the release of the story “ Thai airways / British airways both suspend flights until further notice... Eva air a airline I’ve always used until now ! Flights Available economy class 22,566 premium economy 32,000 baht ???? have a return flight booked for may ( will stand my ground already paid so rather than get ripped off by these airlines by returning home early,I’ll wait and see if they honour my return as scheduled. Eva air will also operate a flight on Sunday,so anybody looking to return should make there booking if need. Would advise u.k pats to register with the embassy as you’ll receive a daily email for scheduled flights back to the u.k. stay safe

  8. What’s the point “ followed instructions blah blah blah

received email from embassy as follows !

British Nationals in Phuket: spaces available on Swiss charter flight to Zurich

WK 2051. Departure: 23:35 on April 2nd (Thai time). Estimated time of arrival in Zurich: April 3rdat 07:40 (Swiss time).

You will need to meet the cost of this flight yourself. You do not need to pay before you travel. You will have to sign a commitment to pay before you board. The cost of the flight will be based on a normal price for a ticket and charged at a later stage after the flight.

You must also organise your own flight from Zurich to UK. You do not need to do this before you travel but you must remain in transit in Zurich until you organise one. There are several options for onward travel to London and Manchester.

To register for this flight, please send this information to [email protected]

    1. Family name, first name(s)

    2. Date of birth

    3. Passport number

    4. Validity date of the passport

    5. A phone number and email address where you can be reached at any time

Once registered the Embassy of Switzerland will send you confirmation and detailed information, plus a pass so you can get to the airport. Given the curfew in Phuket, you will need to be there before 20:00 on 2 April.

More information on the Embassy of Switzerland website:www.eda.admin.ch/bangkok

impossible get from ubon to Phuket by 20.00 hrs - will play it by ear until can get a flight from ubon to Bangkok. GL if your trying get back to the u.k

  9. Seems irresponsible if you ask me bringing your children aged just one and three “. You would have to send them to school when old enough ( guessing money put aside ) can’t fault them from wanting a better lifestyle. However there’s plenty of ex pats who could soon be in the same boat ! Restaurants / Bars all closed and I’m predicting hotels will follow suit if the virus continues spreading... Anybody who thinks living in Thailand is cheap are deluded with the baht remaining strong. Costs myself around 2k month with the missus and 2 kids. There Quote nothing to go back for ? There savings will no doubt allow them to live comfortably until the virus stagnates and people start to return to there daily lives. My advice would be to hold tight and ride the waves,. Please no go fund page

  10. Curfews already in place “ been self isolating and I’m on holiday unfortunately like most foreigners here ( were stuck ) no flights available ! Last time a curfew imposed was down red and yellow shirts.... bars closed early with police fining bars that stayed open back then was staying in Pattaya .... like most things thailand have been the last to act,.allowing so many people to leave Bangkok last week. Was ridiculous without screening them and no doubt this will have serious consequences throughout Thailand with many more people becoming infected in turn spreading the virus into smaller villages and surrounding areas.

Yes Eva is constantly busy. The hour long wait for phone contact them made me miss the last flight I could get into Taiwan on March 18 with all the evening flights canceled and the only available one after midnight. They hadn't even been notified of the travel ban-I had to read them the article from an English language Taiwanese newspaper. They called me back after the office closed when I was in the shower. I called back immediately, but the office was closed and then no message, e-mail or additional call from them. I should have just ran to the airport and sorted it out there. I will probably pass on them next time.

Was reading somewhere earlier maybe on there app travel or twitter that Eva air have cancelled all flights from March 24th through until April the 7th.... sorry you’ve experienced such stress stressed me myself as information not been forthcoming ‘ all we ask for is clarity ... good lucky with the journey back home

you can’t fault some of Nostradamus predictions / correct with the great fire of London and French Revolution along with hitler & Napoleon wars. On top that predicted Hiroshima and Nagasaki as well as the space shuttle disaster !!! Remember September 11th and the twin towers - read the books as it uncannily shows the exact places both planes hit. Wouldn’t mind but as we know these predictions made hundreds of years ago...... like most people i love a good old conspiracy story ???? it’s the prophecy !

  13. Talk about a jump in statistics “. Don’t surprise me one little bit especially when the airports have been lacks a daisy in screening people. Today’s confirmed cases a real worry for those visiting the country,. lockdown would cause huge difficulties for many foreign guests who rely upon exchange booths ( banks closed last week ) for cashing money. The only real surprise is why the Thais have taken so long to act,. when other countries have basically closed down,. in a effort to try and contain the virus. Stay safe everybody  by self isolating for periods of time we can stay healthy and beat this horrible virus ????????

    • Haha 1
  14. why Would foreign nationals be downloading a app before arrival many countries would know nothing about the law changes...... arrived here feb 26th airports empty and more importantly no screening, only change from previous visit was having to give fingerprints ! Yet the baht remains as strong as ever whilst other currencies fall In value.... can’t see anything change and as some have already mentioned by downloading it’s also steeling valuable information from your smart phones.... all this mention about the virus ( what about the street dogs ? Can they pass on the virus ? Already having to wash hands when entering shopping malls and kasikorn bank stopped trading for a certain period of time...

  15. Kasikorn Bank embarrassing “ majority of people with cash hardly  use banks,. Always use kiosks with a better exchange rate ! Funny enough was looking the other day whilst in Khon kaen believe the rate was 39.45 checked my HIFX account and was receiving just over 40 baht to the pound. Never use Thai banks except to transfer funds from the uk into my partners bank account. Funds take 5 days to clear yet receive no charges. Just glad kasikorn bank don’t run planes as the airports would be empty

  16. Welcome to the real world,. I’ve been back and forth over many years and I’m supporting my Thai family with the overinflated baht its been driving tourism away for the last 5yrs. Corona virus being felt by many nationals throughout the world,. Thailand before the recession relied heavily upon foreign nationals,. Now it’s all about Chinese and Indian tourists,. Many ex pats have spent millions investing in Thailand “. I’ve always said treat those how you expected to be treated yourself,. Sometimes i feel like a second class citizen overcharged and disrespected,. I’m not bitter but I’m praying Thailand goes into recession,.then this overinflated baht will weaken and Thailand will prosper again,. Today’s army rule shows when looking through the history books it will end in heartbreak.

BTW, the purple book...car passport is available easily from dept land transport. Cost is about 250 baht. If you have the right docs it takes about an hour.

OBviously you need the vehiclue blue book etc and probably a proof of residence....your partner can deal with that or even a work permit.

Don't know of anyone getting into Vietnam. Cambodia is a grey area.

On arrival into Laos, you need to buy insurance. It's very cheap a few hundred baht for up to one month....There will be a shop/office at the border.

Which border do you plan to cross at?

Unsure of border crossing at this time,.arrived safely in ubon and currently in Khon Kaen “will play it by ear a.t.m as plans keep changing as sons school been closed due corona virus
