Disagree, they treat people like animals and they did hassle my friend, who had no tourist visa abuse history and all paperwork / proof. They seemed to allow over 10-15 people in front of us, who looked like homeless eastern europeans, behaved very bad too, were loud, who came via a agent and all were accepted.

But my friend was refused, he attempted the next day again as well, with his actual detailed travel plans, as that all was they had to bring as an argument (even hotels booked/paid, flight back europe booked/paid, money proof), but refused again.

Question is also in those terms what they now consider to be a 'tourist', I met plenty of people who would always come to Chiang Mai for 3-5 months a year, not work, but be static. This as my friend is similar, he booked the same place 2 months. Consulate guy didn't like that it seems.

Same after all the years, still not a single improvement on providing some shade for waiting people. Or to actually use the seats with a simple queue system, could be realised in a day time and the guard can hand out printed numbers equal to the seats available. Keep the rest out the gate.

But yes, for non-o people it all seems hassle free somehow. Personally I would rather go to Vientiene or Hanoi on appointment. But guess it makes sense for those living in isaan.

Your friend could possibly get a 6 month multi entry tourist visa in his own country. Maybe the staff at the office get tired of people who dont bother doing this.

Yeah we seem to get that at the flyover near me, Hwy 36.... what starts out as an odd bod often grows each few days until there is a right collection of junk under there. Not sure if they move on, or are moved on, but then one day no people, no junk.  Can't imagine it is cool under all that concrete.....

They do collect a lot of rubbish. Good on them for finding shelter but when they turn it into a rubbish dump can look pretty bad.

Anutin has 71 seats for sale.

Do you think the reason they dont include him is the marijuana issue that Anutin depends on for support or that he does not want to associate with the regime or that he doesnt like him. (Who does?) Pita referred to him indirectly by saying he does not need any more support.

Never underestimate the social networking which is being followed closely and arrests made by this government over those posts, or have you not been paying attention to the news etc....over the past 5 plus years.

Have you not been paying attention to what I posted or just have trouble reading? Onemorefarung said somebody must be financing the protests. I replied it does not take much finance. All you need is a mobile phone and data connection.

The post was about somebody financing the protest movement. I was commenting that not much financing was needed nowadays.  All you need is a mobile phone.

It seems quite possible that PT and MFP together could muster enough seats to get a house majority but not enough to elect a PM as the senate will likely vote en masse for one of those that "elected" them.

The PM could have the power to elect a cabinet consisting of minority party members but would never get anything through Parliament.

It sounds a ridiculous scenario. Am I misunderstanding something here?

Yes. I must admit have trouble seeing how legislation will work.

And let's not forget that at least some of these protests are well organized and well financed. Now who is doing that? The poor grassroot people? Or some rich people of groups with certain interests.

Personally I don't see that Thais have much interest in protest - unless they are paid to protest or maybe teenagers who like the thrill.

Are you underestimating the power of social media. One person with an internet connection can cause chaos. Only a few hundred baht a month. I have talked to young thais who are very unhappy with the government. Is the first time I have heard Thais openly complain about the institutions. That is a different situation from past protests where there was a calm, highly respected voice saying settle down.

If you look closely at the rules governing creating and starting new political parties, tucked away deep in the 2017 constitution, you will see that the ultimate arbiter as to whether a party an be formed or not is the Electoral Commission. Not exactly a shining beacon of political impartiality!

If the establishment dissolve these two parties it is very likely to end up being resolved on the streets.

The Thai Army need to get cracking welding bedsteads to their new Strikers!

Remember that Mitsubishi make the tanks with the tear gas. Would never buy anything from them after realizing that.

I've been looking but found nothing. I found Billabong Resort had a formal dawn service on the lake last year but nothing I could see for this year

Wombat and Kiwi Bar in Jomtien seems to have something from 12pm but guessing that's just a piss up for the Anzac day footy ????

Indeed. A very good point. Cheers. If this is this case though how will they be able to tell that booze has not been bought which as I remember your not able to do? Just a thought.

Didn't know about the booze bit. Maybe they will rely on the rèsponsibility and honesty of the mum and dad shop keepers.????  Perhaps only allow them to be used between the hours that alcohol can not be purchased. Everybody knows that all shops abide by that law????

..... and as I have pointed out several times the rural person may have no where to spend the bt10k because it's restricted (somehow) to a 4km radius. Unless the local mom and pop shop or small shop has the capacity (how?) to accept the digital wallet it seems to me that the money is useless. As it stands there is nowhere in the small villages that accepts the blue card and many people have to travel more than 4 km to find somewhere that does. Just another thought bubble policy that no real thought has been given to. Very typical of Thailand.

I think they could just transfer it to the shops bank account. Many Thais seem to love money  transfer for even the smallest amount.
