I don't have any problem with context, you have gone in the wrong direction and apologise if the implication of what I said wasn't clear.

Your post was split up and only one part addressed rather than the context of the whole post. A common practice on the forum by some.

I knew what you were trying to say in the OP, I am in the neighbouring province which has 3 immigration offices, 2 are used by expats and operate quite differently.

Sorry. You lost me with 'Your post was split up and only one part addressed rather than the context of the whole post' whatever the context of that is?

Is it really any hardship to supply a map and a few photos as requested.

You could have completed that task in less time than you've spent posting your complaint.

I don't really think it was a complaint. I was just highlighting the crazy rules they are following at Laem Ngop.  Personally I find it an invasion of my privacy and there is another office a bit further along towards Cambodia which I would use if I needed again. I thought the point of having a forum is to exchange information, even if you want to go through the posts and pass judgements on the importance of what others write. I think it is a good warning to others that if they use the Laem Ngop office they will need to do this and would be better off going to Klong Yai.

Indeed, but context is not a strong point for many.

I am sorry you have trouble understanding the context. It seems quite obvious. I am trying to politely say the office are dumb. It is the same extension where parents visit children. If you visit your child does immigration want pictures of the kid's bedroom, your ex-wife's saucepan, her bedroom complete with new boyfriend? I intend leaving the province in a few weeks so in reality  they can have as many photos as they like. I do not think the 60 day extension is the same as  non o married to a Thai as @DrJack54 posted. I am pretty sure the non-o wife visa requires 90 day reporting and if you changed provinces I assume  the new office would take you through the whole process again - new photos of your home, your bedroom, kitchen etc. It would not just require a tm30 report.  In my case I will change provinces for a little then head to the airport and as long as my new hotel registers a tm30 there is no problem. I have used this same  extension  before at another office with no requirements.

  4. I went for a 60 days to visit wife extension today at Trat Immigration. They require a list including a,map of where we live and a,series of photographs- our room, bed, the kitchen, the dog doing its business in the yard. I know different offices have different rules but found it amusing as we  could just leave for another province tomorrow, file a new tm30 and be completely within the law.

    Thanks for your reply.

I am heading to Savannakhet next week to get a multiple entry Non O visa. I was curious about applying for an extension for next year and thought I'd ask you.

My Thai bank statement showing 400k deposited last week and therefore not seasoned is my only concern, as there are a lot of conflicting reports regarding this. I did see amongst the comments in this thread, that you had pointed to a post stating that the money didn't have to be in a Thai account for a period of time before being accepted. Hopefully, that is still the case.

    Kind regards

If you have any trouble ask the shop across the road for help. The tuk tuk driver took me there and they told me a non o multi entry was possible for 12000 b. No Financials needed.

  8. Hi. Am in a remote location and had some local guys work on my pond. He seems a good renderer but not too sure about his waterproofing. The pond is large and I was having trouble keeping it clean so I had him build a wall across it and wanted to turn half of it into a sunken garden. Unfortunately it is leaking and I thought I had better buy him something to waterproof it retrospectively and ws hoping for some suggestions. Thank you for all advice past present and future

    Well water to pump

    > pump to filter(s), you might need more than one

    > filters to storage tank

    > storege tank to pressure-pump for tap water, if storage tank is not in a tower

    > pressure pump to 5 micron dirt filer, before the house pipes

Preferably, have the water tested, so you know which filer or filters to use. If you have a high water consumption you will need large filters, which could be sandfilter, carbon filter and post-carbon filter. If your water consumption is moderate to low, you might be able to use small filter cartridges, which need weekly and/or monthly change; for example 5 micron cartridge for dirt, carbon cartridge for taste and smell, post carbon filter that could also be a 5 micron cartridge, and finally preferably a 0.5 micron ceramic cartridge. The 5 micron cartridges can be easily viewable in clear container, when the get dirty, it's time to change. The ceramic filter might last for several months.

Example of smaller filter cartridges, in the back a clear filter housing:

    image.jpeg.93843a904bc42700cdabf95c935f9f2e.jpeg

Be aware that a storage tank can built up algae, so you should have a 5 small micron filter in a clear container between the pressure pump and the house pipes; change filter when it get dirty.

I have a storage tank on the attic, where the water if filtered before it reach the tank. In the tank is a small circulation pump – which operaates some 4 hours in 24-hours – that filers the circulated through a 5 micron cartridge, then through an UV-lamp (kills all bacteria), and finally mix the water with air – like an aquarium pump – to keep it fresh; the latter works like a small scale water aeration in a water work.

I was thinking the filter should go after the pump as you have suggested. I was thinking of putting a filter on my washing machine as I often get red water. Was going to run from government water(underground)to tank. Tank to pump. Pump to filter. Filter to washing machine.

Sure, my thoughts and prayers too...But at the end things did turn out the way the general consensus had predicted. didn't they? So how could that be negative? To have read out loud the writings on the wall? For me the last nail on the coffin was when a (hole at the knees jean) street musician got top billing as "on-board entertainment." As the saying goes, "you've got to know when to hold/fold them." It was very early on  quite obvious to us who were initially truly excited for this prospect that some folks had more money than "vision." From then on it was a prolonged bedside vigil until the last gasp. RIP.

Over time I felt sorry for @HammerMan  needing to be the front for a business which seemed to have endless troubles with officials, covid, mechanical and other troubles. I know the Pattaya forum is full of friendly and caring people but from memory people seemed to condemn it before it even started. I thought it would be a great thing for the East Coast and would really open up tourism on the Cambodia/East Coast/ Southern Thailand  route. Is a pity the government didn't support it. I sent one of my wife's customers on it and he thought it was great. To me it is interesting that the ferry companies on Koh Chang, Koh Mak and Koh Kood are now running extra services to Cambodia and other destinations. If Sea Horse  was running you could have traveled virtually from the Hat Lek border to Koh Samui with only a 2 hour land journey from Koh Chang to Sattahip.

The lack of posts is simply because of the lack of development. The vessel is sitting at anchor off Sattahip.. Many potential partners have been in discussion, but they're always frightened off by the hidden costs of business in Thailand. We did look at alternative ports, but the investment/paper work involved made the investment not viable. The current plan now, I believe, is to accept defeat and sell the vessel.

Sorry to hear that. Good luck with the future. Sorry you had to put up with all the negative comments through the journey. It would have been a great service if it worked out.

I would be very wary of pursuing that route. Several years ago, there was a scandal at the Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur when some unused visa stickers came up missing. More recently, I recall a worker at one of their Chinese legations being arrested for charging Chinese students non-immigrant visa rates for their student visas. Their consular efforts seem to be fair game for their in-house scammers.

I got my 1-year MENO in Savanakhet last February, on my first three re-entries at Suvarnabhumi this year, the IO's did several close inspections of the visa sticker, tilting it under different light, before stamping me in. The re-entry ten days ago was the first time it didn't get the extra scrutiny. I would assume that the IO's are now aware that Savanakhet Consulate now needs proof of funds so any recently issued MENO's will probably get closely examined.

I just assumed that it was going to their retirement fund like every other office in Thailand. I did a visa run through there and the IO seemed confused that I did not have a new visa in my passport. I had to point out the old one.

  13. I know people will say Savannakhet survives on more than non-o border runners but it is surely going to be a big hit to their economy. Am not sure why anyone would go there ifor muchvreason except the embassy. II can't see tourist visa holders and visa run groups paying over 100 b for a coffee at one of the expensive cafes near the embassy. Sure there are domestic laos people but it still must be an income drop for the farung style restaurants and hotels.

I was there on Tuesday, I signed only a copy of my passport and Laos visa, my wife signed rest of. Nothing asked or commented. Ok, I had an "original" KR2, not photocopy.

Oh wait, officer complained a copy of my wife's expired passport.

Very painful trip, having used several busses from Chiang Mai to Khon Kaen and Mukdahan. Feet swollen and pain in the back, not recommended!

    But got the visa!

Hey, may I ask another question? Does this visa help me to open a Thai bank account or do I need some more documents?

Could you provide some more information. Was it busy. What documents did you provide? Any other useful information?

Have had to repaint a number of times after workers have thinned out really good and expensive paint when I wasn’t supervising. It’s maddening. On metal, rust will win out if not full coated in this humid climate.

For your floor, If you’ve sanded or otherwise prepped the old or new wood deck well before, thinning is okay for first but not really necessary.

I put 5 full coats of Begar Polyurethane 1k Suoreme on my deck with light sanding after 1, 2, and 4th coats. (2 coats on bottom of raised deck). Deck was made out of handpicked salvaged teak.

I’m having to do most of the painting myself to get a decent job. Only a couple of guys followed my directions on how to brush without leaving brush strokes, feathering instead. Unfortunately, both were alcoholic and didn’t last, even after paying and helping one into rehab. Very sad situation here in Thailand.

Sorry for the sob story! God bless them all.

Your floor looks great. I finished mine and I guess it fulfills the purpose. Thanks for advice
