I find being called a farang extremely offensive as in many cases it is not used as a polite term by Thai people.

I’m sure you didn’t mean it like that though did you??

Suradit69 is a troll. Don't feed him. Derailed a whole forum by saying you can not call a spade a spade. Brainwashed just like a Jehovah witness. Waste of space, trying to forced his brainwashed ideas on people who have innate common sense. For Christs sake, get a life.

So you could understand their conversation in Thai? That means you're not at basic Thai level which is just about ordering food and asking how much.

The camera would catch you giving a gift to her and her superior would suspect it is a bribe.

I doubt any tourist would give gifts to immigration officer during their working hours and just right after talking to her at her counter, if tourists really liked the IO, they would have gotten her phone number and meet later.

    It's very obvious that it's a bribe.

It's not a bribe, it's traditional Thai culture, you are so naive to call it a bribe, go to any government office, drivee licensing etc, and you will see people bringing basket gifts, you know the type you see in supermarkets, you are trying to change the foundation of this culture, licking boots to get favours. You really are not welcome here if you are trying to neo colonise the country with thoughts of doing your job out of a calling. And you're likely to die mysteriously if you try, and end up in a morgue for a week as your body slowly decomposes with no hope of an autopsy that your throat was cut. The East is East and the West is West and nor the twains shall meet.

I have many years experience in Thailand and have never been forced to leave a bribe. If you are doing things correctly there is seldom a problem, but if you are trying to game the system there could very well be problems.

I do have to admit that my wife sent be back from our car with a box of Sees candy from the US because the staff was so nice. Its our way of saying thank you. This was after the fact and not a bribe.

I've had many wonderful experiences with government offices over the years. Partially due speaking proper Thai and understanding the culture. Their are some that seem to be having a bad day, but I can deal with that.

I don't go along with all the negative comments on this forum.

Why do you have to apply for a visa at all, you are married to a Thai, then you grovel with candy for being walked all over. Ask yourself, what would Ghandi do, you make it worse for everyone licking ass.

Stop. Read response from experts like elvijero and others. Disregard the law about unlimited visa exempt via air. Fact is you could do that years ago. No you get away with maybe 6 months doing that back to back.

The law is the law least we live in jungles. Here is one reason the law is not being followed. There must be just cause to deny entry, 10,000 baht for exempt entry. why do you think detainees are coerced into signing papers? Failing to pay Bribes or tips is not just cause, nor does it warrant a slap in the face. This country is being dragged through the gutter. Most have the sense to move to Vietnam or other countries.

More's ok also, they just don't want to see obvious in outs.

Based on being asked myself "why did I extend this one" (the most extended one - 88 days), the vibe is they don't like them stretched to the max, and ideally no extensions. Or at least less extensions.

There is no legal limit to the amount of days spent in Thailand  on tourist visa. Ask ubonjoe. Why does Thaivisa.com allow members to spread disinformation? Thai immigration laws are similar to Vietnam or Philippines, i.e. stay as long as you like as a tourist, except Thailand requires entry by air, 2 land border entries limit,
