Following the incident, police questioned all parties involved and found that neither side wished to press charges. Officers took photographs, documented the identities of those involved, and released them without further action.

And there was me thinking the big cheese police guy had a 15 point strategy to combat crime and especially foreign criminals. But I forgot, there are no sex workers in Thailand...

This latest incident reflects the underlying tensions that persist within British politics over race, representation, and political alignment. While some celebrate Badenoch’s leadership as a breakthrough, others, like Abbey, feel that the ideological stance she represents does not reflect the broader interests of the Black community in the UK.

Well, she was elected by Conservative party membership.

I don't feel she represents the broader interests of the non-black community. Why is black capitalised in the statement above, by the way? Is it a proper noun now?

1 person, who seems perhaps a little misguided as to their own importance in the scheme of things produces what's known as satire. He is British-Nigerian, apparently. He wrote a book, another satire, apparently, not having read it, called Think Like A White Man.

    I leave things there.

    Depends what you're buying!

How much would a 75" TV have cost in1924?

Or movies or a music collection in your home?

And why worry about the money value, isn't the real value in the number of hours you need to work in order to buy something? If you're considering the working hours required, most of us are billionaires compared to people living 100 years ago.

Are we? Compared to 1924's comparative 2024 value of £1250 per month... for a team driver... According to Hansard. 76 shillings a week, £3 8s 0d.

Sorry, @Smokin Joe, I appreciate your effort, but the original post is the correct presentation for money dying.

This topic is about money dying before we old expats die.

The funny chart is merely a visual indicator of that.

    The chart isn't the topic.

The chart's showing gold price in dollars and you made it the topic when you inverted it and flipped it.

Money value has always declined long term. About 20 dollars now will buy what $1 bought 100 years ago.

This article must really rub Harris and hurt her chances to win an election. She supports allowing children to demand sex changes and her VP is making laws to allow the state to take the child away from the parents if they do not adhere to a childs sex change request. Then the state will pay to have it done for the child. This world and the US are getting TRANS crazy.

Does she? Is he? Will it? Mind you what state? The state or federal state?

The tragic case of Chris Kaba, a man fatally shot by police in 2022, has become a flashpoint for discussions around race, policing, and justice in the UK. However, rather than waiting for the facts to emerge, many on the political Left rushed to frame Kaba as an innocent victim, distorting the narrative to fit their own agendas. The story of Chris Kaba, a man involved in dangerous activities, is a stark reminder of how preemptive judgments can lead to public misinformation.

Chris Kaba was lawfully shot by a police marksman during a vehicle stop in Streatham, south London in September 2022

Soon after Kaba’s death, Labour MP Diane Abbott was one of the first to comment publicly. In a September 2022 article for *Morning Star*, a hard-left newspaper, she lamented the "terrible fate of Chris Kaba," claiming that "people can lose their lives even when going about their daily lives." Yet, as subsequent investigations revealed, Kaba wasn’t simply going about his daily routine. He was behind the wheel of an Audi believed to be linked to a recent shooting, and when police ordered him to stop, he rammed the vehicle into a police car, endangering those around him.

Mike Graham hits out at London Mayor Sadiq Khan for his "distasteful" sympathy for Chris Kaba, who was shot and killed by police. Isabel Oakeshott: "He was a violent, drug-dealing thug! I'd like to see that little pip-squeak of a politician try to do the job of police!"

Abbott's article went further, highlighting what she saw as media bias: “A campaign for justice for Chris Kaba has already been established and taken important public protests. Millions of viewers on Sky TV especially will have seen the recent demo, although they were initially told it was a memorial walk for the Queen. The mainstream media have an unfortunate habit of erasing inconvenient truths when they have decided what ‘the story’ is, and it is amazing how often it happens to black people.” Ironically, the facts revealed later in court suggest it was Abbott and others on the Left who decided what "the story" was before knowing the full truth.

Six days before he was shot dead, Chris Kaba shot a man in the leg in a Oval Space club in Hackney. He ran outside and shot him again.

This truth became clearer after a three-week trial at the Old Bailey, where the police officer who shot Kaba was acquitted of murder. Despite this, figures on the Left continued to champion Kaba as a victim. The Runnymede Trust, a charity focused on racial justice, tweeted “#JusticeForChrisKaba” and denounced what it called “racist state violence.” Similarly, several Labour MPs voiced concerns about the supposed damage to “our communities” and the need to restore their “confidence” in the police, implying that the fault lay with law enforcement rather than with Kaba’s actions.

Even more surprising were comments from the Women’s Equality Party, which said, “We are holding Chris Kaba’s family and friends in our hearts today. It is both terrifying and outrageous to hear politicians say the police should be scrutinised less after they kill unarmed members of the public. No justice, no peace.” Yet, this statement was flawed on multiple fronts. Firstly, Kaba was not “unarmed”—by using his car as a weapon to ram other vehicles, he was endangering lives. Secondly, the party’s selective outrage ignored Kaba’s history, including a domestic violence protection order issued against him in April 2022, which banned him from contacting the mother of his unborn child or entering her street.

The real question is how so many on the Left managed to construct a narrative of Kaba as an “aspiring architect” and “father-to-be” without considering the broader context of his life and actions. They seemed determined to turn him into a martyr, a British equivalent of George Floyd, without pausing to reflect on who he truly was. It appears that in their haste to signal virtue and draw parallels with other tragic cases, many chose to ignore inconvenient truths about Kaba’s dangerous behavior. In doing so, they risk undermining the credibility of the very causes they seek to champion.

It saddens me that people make judgements on limited information. He lost his life, his family lost a son, his child lost their father, yes. But he was a  known evil little scrote.

Those closest to him knew that including the soon to be mother of his child. Does that mean he should have had his life taken? Was there a more expedient way of removing this threat? Trying get away from a vehicle stop using his vehicle as a weapon. The vehicle being stopped was suspected of being involved in a shooting. Would unarmed officers have wanted to try to stop it when this was known?

Those who knew nothing about him decided he was God's gift and his life was unjustifiable cut short. Or perhaps they did know and chose to ignore it. Who knows?

For me, I know not, I care not. Another evil little toerag is off the street and the copper is reportedly subject to a bounty of 10 grand. Mind you in this day and age, a mere pittance...

Similar to Daniel penny case on NY subway.  Daniel Penny trial: Jury selection begins in NYC deadly subway chokehold case in death of Jordan Neely - ABC7 New York (abc7ny.com)

    Quote:

"NEW YORK (WABC) -- Jury selection began Monday in the manslaughter trial of Daniel Penny, a Marine veteran who put a man acting erratically in a New York City subway car into a fatal chokehold.

Penny pleaded not guilty to second-degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide.

Witnesses say the man, Jordan Neely, had been shouting and demanding money when Penny approached him on May 1, 2023.

That's when Penny moved to restrain him, pinned the man to the floor of an NYC train with the help of two other passengers, and placed him in a chokehold until his body went limp.

The medical examiner's office ruled his death a homicide. Penny's lawyers argue that the Long Island native didn't intend to kill Neely but rather sought to hold him down long enough for police to arrive.

The case has fueled political narratives and perceptions about urban crime and captivated a city where the subway is indispensable.

The judge has said it could take two weeks to seat a jury that will be asked to reconcile when it is appropriate for a citizen to kill another citizen."
