Why on earth not just end dual pricing then there is zero need for an 'Expat Card'?

Because they do not really want to end that. They will let expats get away but still want to overcharge tourists! Otherwise they could simply forbid dual pricing, set up a channel for complaining and issue big fines for those who don't obey.

Once again, a complicated Thai style half-solution, still motivated by the same greed and still not changing much.

  2. Does Thai government actually know that there are many European countries with compulsory health insurance that covers every sickness and that is not limited to a certain amount? Should I still have to thro away 1200 USD for a rubbish insurance that only covers covid while I have a global insurance covering everything? Of course, I must buy it from a Thai insurance.

Was it not the same idiot government that has forced long term visa applicants to buy rubbish insurance policies over 400 000 THB just to get a visa while insurances from your home country covering everything were not accepted.

That insurance is now not enough to cover covid??? what was then the use of it???

    Thailand fck off!

  3. What a nonsence once again! Expats and rich students playing golf while their wifes go shopping. Does Pipat live on a different planet? Does he believe expats need the tourism minister to prepare golf trip packages and trips to unseen Thailand? They don't wait to come for golf, they, we, wait for Thailand to fuc*n let us come back home.

Did you see the 2 advertising spots on Enlish  tv channels recently? Amazing Thailand is waiting for us to come back...they say. As if we could... Did they actually understand that borders are CLOSED? how can I go back to experience amazing Thailand?
The tourism minister spends now millions on advertising at a time where nobody actually can enter the country...don't they think they will <deleted> off one or two of us? Amazing Thailand.

  4. Once again Thai style. A closed case should remain closed, not simply overturned at the likes of someone. Why? A matter of democratic principles and rule of law. Decision is decision and has not to be overturned in a minute just because the media pushes. Instead grab all those who have been taking bribes and get the Red Bull guy for paying bribes.

Thailand needs to learn that they cannot go all the time back and forth. Overturning 2 minutes later what they just decided. That is not how people can have confidence in the rule of law. That is why investments are not being placed. No rule of law. No reliability. Ever changing rules and different rules executed differently at the likes of different gov agencies...Lawless chaos.

  5. During isolation 2 covid tests. After isolation 1 more test and remain in province for 1 week awaiting loooong the result. So all in all 3 covid tests? Wait. Not 3. To be able to fly the airline will want a covid test too. So I am doing 4 covid tests and spend 1200 USD for that alone? Are these guys living on the moon? Bunch of fckin idiots!

And do you really want to be one of those few tourists imported to Phuket? Can you imagine how they all will ripp you off, hotel, food, transportation, beach, boat,  covid tests etc, just absolutely everywhere. And bars? Probably ordered to stay closed... Wow...

  6. Why don't they copy a well working system, that of South Korea?! Korea opened borders for foreigners long time ago. They asked covid test from home then isolation for 1 day while doing one more covid test. If negative u can go but you are monitored 14 days. That means, every day you get a phone call asking about your health, you i stall an app and submit helth report every day. Your location is being tramsmitted too. After 14 days you are free, u can delete the app and no more phone calls. It is an effective system of surveillance and the impact is bearable.  Thais ask all sh*t of insurances, and documents and lock u into government operated resorts where they ripp you off as you have no choice but to pay whatever they ask.

It might be a better idea to insist that everyone who rides any size of m/c in Thailand has a licence and wears a decent helmet.

That anyone undergoes a government checked training, in traffic rules and in practical driving. And yes, most helmets in Thailand are not decent, but garbage suitable as rain protection...

Can't recall how many times have we read about people being warned about wearing gold chains driving on motor bikes here on Thai Visa

Especially over this period with lots of people being destitute and with  nothing to lose by stealing

    They are asking for trouble

When you take the job of a PM of 70 million people, one should prepare to deal with some are are bound to show their displeasure and discontent in every which way, and as long as thailand is a democracy, those unhappy will continue to show it...

    1. Thailand is no democracy

    2. The PM is no PM. It is an extended military coup and Prayut Chnocha is the General who switched uniform and riggs elections since.

Unhappy people? Hm, might have one or two...

  11. They admitted the killings in order to not get executed? Why do I feel so bad around my stomach when thinking of rule of law the Thai style?? These guys will spend decades in jail for something they might have never committed...

Thai justice system in total need of credibility... Red Bull walks free? Myanmar workers put on death row. Corrupt <deleted> up country with no trust in justice.

Well, they probably should not have been there in the first place...

Yes probably not. Thai police quickly needed to present itself in a good light and Myanmar workers were just ideal for that. Before they further ruin Thailand's reputation by arresting Thai suspects, better use Myanmar workers with no powerful embassy and no news media coverage ...  wasn`t it even the British embassy, who voiced concerns about arrests and convictions despite lack of reliable evidence of guilt...
