  1. There are many things not or wrongly investigated. But it all doesn`t matter. The guy hit a motorcycle and ran after this. There is no additional evidence needed, at least that is an established fact. Is it not a crime to be involved in an accident where one person dies and than flee??? And dragging the body of the victim along while driving away???

That for itself should have led to detention.

Alcohol or drugs, speeding, and even how the accident exactly happened and who is to blame, these are only details to produce additional charges, but it would already have been good to charge him with fleeing the scene. There is not much needed: 1. Did he realize he was hitting a person? Yes for sure, the impact damage on his car was huge. 2. Did he wait at the scene and try helping the injured, calling police and ambulance? No, he ran. That is already enough in a country ruled by laws.

In the case you use as an example, the autopsy can only say for certain that there was gunshot residue on the victim's hand, it was a contact shot, and the angle of entry could have been self-inflicted.  The evidence is consistent with a suicide but does not prove suicide.  The victim could have been forced to hold the gun and pull the trigger--resulting in a contact wound, the angle being ok, and gunshot residue on the hand.  Unlikely?  Yes, of course.  Impossible? No.  Likewise, with the motorcycle crash.  The autopsy determined the injuries that resulted in the death but could not determine the events leading up to the crash.

Exactly. Did they look for other wounds, there might be a gunshot as well, ... as a possible reason to fall ... but you don`t see what you don`t wanna see...

  3. Justice will be provided to both sides? The attacked officer will be compensated and the killed man will be unmurdered?

Clear case of revenge vor injuries suffered. Justice could look like that, relatives buy a gun and kill the officer.

Oyherwise hope for a jail sentence...haha...1 month and out again...

  4. Useless military generals need new toys...first the submarine now a jet..they didnt get it. Thailand has no hostile armies to come invade them, it's the Chinese who are invading them bringing along their sicknesses and the money to buy cheap the businesses went broke. And Thai generals are not protecting the country but willingly hand over Thailand to their masters in Beijing.

  5. Many have cancelled bookings not because the one idiot special guy from military dictatorship of Egypt. They have cancelled because they know how incompetent and hystherical Thai government and city governments are reacting. There is no confidence in rules. They apply and yet they not. Changing all the time. Confidence to be restored? By issuing new rules on hourly basis? Who the hell will spend big money buy flights and plan holidays when one corona idiot can cause  government to overreact, put the city under lockdown and so on.

U want confidence? First step is to formulate some rules, what happens when, etc.. and then stick to it. So everyone knows what and when and if...

And military dictator Prayut should make sure that his best dictator friends and their personnel get tested. And by the way, if that was an official visit, why were children/families accompanying those very important idiots?

  6. What <deleted> is that with covid insurance??? non immigrants / retirees have been forced to buy overpriced and useless (because full of exclusion) health insurance with benefits of at least 400.000 THB. Now these <deleted> just state, 400 000 THB is enough for everything but not enough to cover covid, they want 100 000 USD... Are they totally insane?

Are they thinking with their ass???

Clear overreaction of the scared because highly unprofessional government.

The country of wonders, not the land of smiles.

  7. This again is just so sick. Like children dreaming while playing in the sandbox. Are these stupid Thai officials children? Yes private airplane big big spenders will come sooo many you need to build one more airport to can handle them...

Those who had really big money they came already dispite bans. They just paid the immigration. Travrlling was always possible for the rich and special. Some even fly multiple times to Munich and back and forth...and back...during corona lockdowns

  8. When will farangs in love learn that their assets go to the girlfriends if they have to leave... There is a rule, do not invest in your so called wife or girlfriend unless u set up an agreement thru lawyers. They get your stuff and walk away into the arms of the Thai boyfriend...or you meet a new one and want to switch... life is like that and you should not put huge moneys into any relationship and especially not in Thailand or Philippines. You want to invest in future life together? Make house for mama? You're sick! By condo for mama and put in your own name! She won't leave you like that...

  9. It's not only the "zero ability" to drive a vehicle due to no real schools and no real driver tests, there is another dimension to it too. Thais can be extremely aggressive. And when sitting in a car they use that car as a weapon (many times they even have a gun inside the car and shoot you if you are unlucky). Overtake a Thai or blow the horn, he will get immediately super angry and will chase or shoot you to give revenge... childish idiot behaviour...  This high blood behaviour maybe combined with alcohol or drugs makes the streets really dangerous.

Then add the bad road conditions and the bad emergency reponse to it.

In Europe an aggressivd driver loses license, car and freedom. Law enforcement generally works to safeguard other from aggressive idiots on the roads...in Thailand they take him to the police station where he cries with tears in his eyes "I am vely solly..." and doon he can buy himself out of jail no matter how many he has killed...

But that's a dumbed down answer and serves the 'uneducated masses'

You, me, everyone-else were sold the 'lock down' on the premise that the spread rate needed to be controlled to 'flatten the curve' and not overwhelm the health-services - This has come with an almost inconceivable cost to the Economy (Thailand's and the Global Economy).

The 'curve flattening' objectives and not overwhelming the health services were met well over a month ago, it was around the same time more was known about the virus and the fatality rates were nowhere near as high as expected and primarily a result of comorbidity.

The lock-down decisions were based on Models of a new virus we knew nothing about. Without the benefit of hindsight or any further knowledge or SARS-CoV-2 lock-down was the only logical and safe decision. We now know a lot more of the effects of SARS-CoV-2 and how it causes Covid-19 in some and is lethal to those with existing severe conditions.

It's becoming clear that like the common cold, like seasonal influenza and many others, SARS-CoV-2 is a virus we will have to live with.

Delaying the acceptance of this is nothing more than political movement - Face saving all round to avoid the reality of admitting the massive over-reaction on a global scale.

The 'over reaction' wasn't an over-reaction at the time because we didn't know what the virus could do and thus trusted the models, then politics took over - those who made the decision would be committing political suicide if they admitted they over reacted.

This does seem difficult for simple minds to understand, those who would argue 'but, Thailand doesn't want the virus' without understanding that this is a long term impossibility and inevitably the 'new normal' involves living alongside such viruses.

Everyone is talking of 'vaccines', however, the influenza vaccine is only 40-60% effective. We may not be able to create an effective vaccine, we may just find better ways to treat Covid-19 as we have done with HIV (which has also had billions thrown at it).

Thus, the idea that 'Thailand doesn't want the virus' as a solution to resolve the issue is preposterous when taking a long term outlook with the understanding that the lock-down was simply about ensuring the hospitals were not overwhelmed.

Future will tell whether living with this virus becomes a new normal or not. Looking at those countries that have not taken good measures like US (freedom approach), Great Britain (ignorance approach), Sweden (approach of no restrictions, corrected too late) they show us how many deaths we can have if we let down our guards. So I don`t think it ever will be acceptable to say covid19 is a kind of influenza and just live with it or die.

Seems logical that they first get Thais back then people who are married to Thais. There is only limit place in quarantine. Why would retirees and even people on elite visa (like me) get in before their own citizen and those married to their own citizen.

IMHO they are doing it right and now in this topic you got married guys moaning about the quarantine. Its the same for Thais and if you don't like it don't come back. Do you feel so special that they have to adjust the rules just for you. Just be grateful your allowed. Its all about capacity and that is not unlimited.

what capacity are u talking about? people go in quarantine? they have homes in Thailand, condos and houses. There they will stay in quarantine, if needed. They don`t stay in hotels or public facilities so where do you see capacity issues?
