    Cheap barbers

In Sisaket province, everyone I've ever talked to says it's been 30-50 baht all along.

    Cheap barbers

Costs 50 baht to get a good cut where I live. The man or woman spends a lot of time, including using a razor on the neck. Sorry it's an 8 hour drive from Bangkok.
  4. I looked back on my posts and didn't see where I said this world was perfect. What I did say was the truth. Things should have been handled better, and with a professional bouncer, which are employed worldwide, they would have been.
  5. 100 kph is too fast on certain roads, especially weaving in and out of traffic, as they do here all the time. Been there, with taxis also. It isn't cowardly to want someone you don't know or trust to slow down. You've been here since 2007 and unless your head has been buried in the sand, you know that an average of 70 people die here every day. The locals are among the worst drivers I've ever seen, and I've driven in 3 countries and almost all of the US states, and put a few million MILES on my driving, including commercial. They don't look in their mirrors, don't care what's behind them and coming up or around, cut you off and drive too slow in the fast lanes, all of which is dangerous to other drivers. This has been said a thousand times, but of course nothing has ever been done about it. If you look at the accident just awhile back with the van that was incinerated, with only one survivor, you'll see that anyone not wanting to see God right now, is worried about the conditions on these roads., and driving with people that have no regard for others safety. Not a scare story but the real story.

  10. Yes he is, and he's watching you now also.
  11. Bangkok has 2 in the top 100.
  12. Don't assume. A lot do that here and it's always a mistake.
  13. Make yourself unavailable every time you talk. Excuses to shop, get a haircut, help on the farm. He;ll get the idea after awhile.
  14. True, servicing can mean a few things. In any event, she was operating an illegal shop, with kids underage working there.
  15. And I answered with a question. I know some banks don't. I just said to the OP that he could ask the manager, or go elsewhere.
  16. My longest known friend, who is stricken with dementia and can't yet get around, lived in Fort Collins and fished the Cache La Poudre river there. I always wanted to visit him, as I do like trout fishing, but moved here. I miss back home so much that it's in my mind daily. Yes, you have to be where you feel at home. That's never been here, as I discovered.
  17. Did I say that? You can ask the managers if they do. Sometimes tellers aren't up to date on everything and some don't like dealing with foreigners. trust me, I know. And if they let a Thai cash the ticket, they have to let the farangs do so also. Just need an account there, which is usual for most transactions.
  18. You want good Chorizo, go to San Antonio. Mexican food restaurants like Thai restaurants here. Not really into it, but I've had my share and it's pretty tasty, although heavy on fats.
  19. I can only attest to what I've had and what others I know have had both in the US and elsewhere. When I say pizza is the best in NYC and New Jersey, it's probably a factual statement. I know quite a few people who have had pizza from Italy and they said while it was good, it still doesn't compare to the NYC and NJ kind. I've had pizza here in a few places and it's okay, but night and day as far as comparing to NYC and NJ. They use a blend of cheeses, instead of just mozzarella, which is standard but not the only type used in pizza. It's said to be the water back home. The sausage, Italian, is still tops as far as any I've had anywhere. As far as hamburgers, the beef is the standard so you go where the best beef is, which is Texas, Argentina and Japan. There are others but those are still at the top. The fillings you can buy mostly anywhere, as far as cheese and veggies, but the bun has to be good also. I've had burgers here in Sisaket by two restaurants. Leo's and Hong Kong garden. Both were pretty good, using Australian beef, which is another good kind, but still not as good as back home in Texas. When I want a burger I go there, so I still like them. If you've had a NYC or Chicago hot dog, you would know what I mean. Of course there are people that might say a hot dog from Cambodia is the best, but it's usually the majority that rules when food is concerned . Germany has great sausages. I've had them while living back home. Italian sausage you can buy from most supermarkets in America is really good also. They know what ingredients to use. America is at the top as far as most food is concerned mainly because a lot of the ethnic foods are made there by people from other countries. The best spaghetti sauce I've ever had, and I've had many, many brands, along with homemade, is still the sauce I enjoyed as a kid at my godfathers house back in New Jersey. His parents were from Sicily and Mama Rose took all day to cook it. Thai food in San Antonio is as good as any I've had here. Owned by Americans with Thai wives. I lived in America from birth to age 62, then 5 years here.
  20. Mario Andretti Ha That's the man my friends and I always compared crazy drivers to when we lived in New Jersey. Taking a van brings you directly, or almost, to your destination, unlike a bus which goes to Mo chit, then a cab ride to the embassy. I was always okay with vans until I saw the accident awhile back where I think at least 12 died, and one was ejected through the side door and lived. The van was enveloped in flames from the propane. I'm okay taking the one from near my house to the nearest city, because it's 30 kilos through country and they don't drive like Andretti.
  21. Dad used to be a ham operator. I remember him in the basement calling out to people all over and being in wonder that he could talk back then, 1965-1974, to people all over the world on a radio he built himself. Still have his call letters, K2BVO. King 2 ,Baker, Victor, Ocean. Kilowatt 2, B for Baker, V-Victoria ,O - Ocean. heard them so many times you couldn't forget.
  22. I missed it for 4 years while living here and fighting with my ex over her insanity regarding my daughter. I went back last year to visit and as soon as I was there the first day, I was home. Going back this fall again. I don't kill Bambi. I'm after his father.
  23. I'm a deer hunter, specifically whitetail deer, and they are only native to North America, Mexico and Canada. Laos is mainly hog hunting, and I can do that in Texas anywhere. They are considered pests. Laos has the same fishing as Thailand. It's good for some big Catfish ,Carp, and a few others, but not what I'm really into. I'm done here, and have been for quite awhile. Thailand has a lot of pretty places, and nice beaches, but I can get that back home, although the beaches aren't near as pretty as here. The fishing here is heavily netted and unregulated for the most part. there is little conservation besides the national parks, and fish can only get bigger if you let them grow, and leave their bait alone. Here they eat the bait.
