  1. Anyone with a winning ticket can claim it at any place that accepts them. Misinformed people are all around Thailand. People here hear things from other misinformed, uneducated or prejudiced people and think they are valid. If someone in a bank says you can't cash the ticket, ask to see their superiors, and have the facts spelled out and shown to them by a google search OR, just go to another bank.
  2. Actually gun use for defense, saving lives, protecting property etc, happens hundreds of thousands of times. Your opinion, as those of others who don't fully understand, is wrong. Guns will always be available to criminals, and the police can only be around a fraction of the time, so citizens are allowed to defend themselves or their property legally. If all guns were destroyed, that would be a different matter entirely, but since the police and military need them to protect citizens, guns will always be around, and will they will fall into the criminals hands. Shooting occur daily here in Thailand, and mass shootings have been happening, and will continue, from guns legally owned by disturbed policemen and military members, and by the general public with illegal weapons. Gun crime here is very high, although many don't think so. People might not feel the need to carry guns in the UK, but gun crime there has been increasing, so some are getting their hands on them.
  3. He's not but I am, and I agree with what he said. Granted, there are many who carry guns because they are looking for trouble, but many more who do to protect themselves or their families from the former. Many lives have been saved by citizens carrying guns. Those that are looking to hurt, rob or kill aren't going by the rules, while legitimate gun owners are, and they're not the ones committing crimes but preventing some.
  4. Wondering where he gets his information from. The uneducated make guesses based on being told something by other uneducated people.
  5. Everyone deals with narcissists, prejudiced, crooked officials, and developers. Look around. Surrounding yourself with those not toxic is very hard, although a good idea, because they are everywhere, unless of course you don't leave your home. Then, you see them here. And it's not only in the past, but almost daily. Most of us aren't rich and live on an island almost by ourselves, with all good friends around us. When the good eliminates the bad, life on earth will improve. For now, it's tolerable. Because there is good here.
  6. I only bash those that deserve it. Prejudiced, narcissists, crooked police and politicians, land developers that destroy nature and rape the earth for profit, and it's not moaning.
  7. Guess you don't get out much, and living here for many years doesn't mean you do. A lot of foreigners never leave their villages and let their wives shop. Yes, most expats here are old. That's because you can retire here and find a woman younger than you can back home that will marry you. Most want money of course, so it's a trade off. If both are happy and faithful to each other, no problem. Many expats here marry very pretty women, and I've seen that a hundred times since I've been here. I did, although she is a narcissist and unstable., and I had to divorce her. She is pretty though. She was as clean as any woman I've ever known. Thai guys don't just reject. They aren't held accountable for having children, which is the court's fault, so they just go to another clueless girl after the baby comes. Many expats do marry bar girls, and when the sh*t hits the fan, they don't understand what happened. Like I said, I didn't marry a bar girl, and the sh*t still hit the fan. Disturbed comes in many disguises. As far as being bald, that happens to millions, and to many, intentionally, and isn't a character fault. Most of the foreigners I've seen here are average to tall, so short still is in the minority like everywhere else. Many are fat, but many just have a pot belly because of drinking. As far as money, whet I've seen is that most are on retirement, and that's not being broke. I can only speak of foreigners I know, and the same goes for you. Many are nice guys, and some are quiet, and don't talk much. Doesn't mean they have no personality. No matter how long you're been here, you really only know a small fraction of what's here. It would be impossible to do otherwise. The worst thing I hate about Thailand is the prejudice, and that doesn't only come from Thais, as I can see.
  8. Traveling has always been something I want to do, and Europe is on my bucket list, along with Vietnam, Australia (To catch a marlin),back to Canada hunting and fishing and more. It will be harder now, though not impossible, but she comes first.
  9. No, it isn't, and being drunk isn't an excuse but it explains the behavior because intoxicated people do things without rational thinking much of the time. Neither is it honorable to kick someone while they're on the ground, and that has been the crux of this whole topic, with many smart and also inane replies. No one in their right minds does this. If you are hit by someone, the normal reaction is to hit back, unless you are a hired bouncer. Then it's your job to get them out of the bar and on their way. Not take it personally and continue the onslaught after you have knocked them down, where they most likely would have stayed or just walked off. This is typical behavior here and many people get hurt when one to five attack them, usually kicking because they can't use fists, and many times using sticks or worse. Supporting this kind of behavior increase the likelihood it will continue.
  10. People should or shouldn't have children at any age. What makes a parent isn't starting young or old. It's being able to raise that child as long as you're alive, until they leave the house, with love, patience and discipline. I'm 67 in 2 weeks, and have a daughter that's almost 7. I'm very healthy and strong for my age, and have already raised 4 more, mostly myself, that are adults now. Of course I hope to live to see her out and independent, but there's no guarantees. Not at any ages. Many people have children still young and don't take the time to raise them, but leave them with relatives and rarely see them. All depends on the person.
  11. Guess you never lived there , or are concentrating on the few while millions of more incidents end safely.
  12. And if the policeman misses and kills a child standing behind him? What kind of mind thinks a policeman can draw his weapon because someone has a skateboard in his hand? If you can't handle this kind of situation, get a job at McDonalds and leave the tough work for those capable. Police in the US , besides the few imbeciles that are power hungry or prejudiced, would have tackled this moron and had him cuffed in seconds.
  13. Age of consent in Thailand is 15. Too young yes, but is what it is
  14. Very good exercise, and who's against exercise but those that don't do it? Adults play badminton, a game usually thought of as a child's game.
  15. Although it does happen, even in America, no policeman in their right mind shoots someone trying to hit them with a skateboard. Policemen that shoot others who aren't holding an actual weapon, are either very prejudiced or very disturbed. That's what tasers are for. They did show restraint. I would have tackled the idiot and brought him to jail.
  16. And teaching foreigners a lesson sends messages to people in western countries to attack Thais, which has been happening daily for a long time now. Relations should be good in every country. Prejudice and jealousy makes life hard for people who aren't that way. Asians get attacked all the time because of exactly this. The harder they make life for foreigners here, the harder it will come don on Asians there. If you do wrong here, you get arrested and fined, not kicked while down. Most foreigners here aren't afraid of the smaller men. They're just smart and don't want to make waves because they like it here for one reason or another. Making friends with the Thais is always a better endgame.
  17. Good, because you are proving with every reply that you are either a huge brown noser, haven't kept up with what's been happening in the west, are thinking this kind of unnecessary violence is somehow warranted, and that a country is exempt because it practices barbaric actions and nothing is done. That's exactly how it stays third world and the people stay repressed. Allowing this to happens breeds more of the same. Watch the daily news someday.
  18. That would explain his replies more
  19. I'm replying to say things should be handled better. It doesn't matter what country this is. Wrong is wrong, and if wrong is allowed to continue, more wrong happens. Media can make or break you. Every foreigner that sees this will think twice about going there. What was allowed was wrong, period. If you can't handle customers that get out of line, you get another job. People who react instead of using restraint only bring more trouble, and possible loss of revenue. You don't take it personally when someone lightly slaps you, as this man did. What was said that made that man slap him? A person that's violent, with childish tendencies, will react to this kind of situation instead of using logic. When someone hits you, and you're a bouncer, you don't respond by going after them after you put them on the ground and kicking them in the back or head. This kind of reaction takes place daily here, with people kicking people when they are on the ground, already subdued. I don't care what you think it is, you're wrong. This was a place of business, and not a ring. This wasn't someone who was hurting your family. This was a drunk man who slapped the bouncer because he said something he didn't like, was knocked to the ground, and was kicked in the back. You can defend this action? If I was there, I wouldn't return, nor would any friends I happened to be with. There are many bars there where this isn't happening, and incidents do happen almost daily from what I hear from regular patrons., of Pattaya bars. This video is now worldwide. You can bet others are thinking the same thing some of us here are. You wouldn't say the same thing if you were back in your home country, but as you say, this isn't the west.
  20. And the world around us. Money talks to many. If that happened in the US, just as an example of one country, the man would lose that dog, and the dog would be put down.
  21. There's a word that describes what you might want to do. It's called restraint, especially if you want to keep friends.
  22. Exactly my point. What is accepted as the "norm" isn't normal. Many things are accepted here as the "norm" and people are hurt, molested and killed, with sometimes nothing being done. You think that makes for good tourism or business? I guess you don't realize that every time a farang is hurt here, unless he's doing real damage to others, is a black mark against those that want to visit or move here. Barbarism isn't tolerated forever, as we see when dictators are allowed to do what they please until someone steps in and eliminates them. This will be seen worldwide, and the people who aren't dense, violent or brown nosers will look at this in a bad way. I repeat aain, what the man did was wrong, but what the bouncers did was worse.
  23. No, they were smart and didn't want to get involved, because defending another man here that slapped a Thai will bring you trouble, no matter what the locals did to him. I'm sure the farangs knew this was wrong. You still, like some others here, don't understand that he didn't get what he "deserved." He slapped a guy, he was hit back. That's where it should have ended, especially seeing he went down. That would be getting what he deserved. I seriously doubt he would have continued the fight anyway. Kicking him on the ground is cowardly, no matter what anyone might believe. It doesn't matter what country this may have happened. A bouncers job is to subdue people, and bring them outside, or away from the bar. They did this in a western country, they would be fired, and the bar sued. Another thing you're overlooking. This bar will now lose customers, meaning farangs, and now, since they got away with this behavior, it will be free reign on anyone else that gets a little out of line. The next time it might be someone dying.
  24. I get daily news from America. This happens every week, and involving female teachers also. Difference there is that they will be fired, brought up on charges, and jailed, and if they are men, they will have a very hard time in prison. People don't get away with things like this is the US. They might get lenient sentences, depending on severity and having a good lawyer, but they will have to register as a sex offender, and everyone that wants to , will know.
  25. If the authorities take no action they should be fired. if the schools take no action, their main admin should be fired. If this continues to happen, the government should do the job intended. Protect our children. If anyone did this to my daughter, he wouldn't be able to work anywhere again. Children are innocents, and need to be protected by those in charge. if those in charge cannot protect them, then hire ones will will.
