Foreigner Questions Thai Dowry: Netizens Respond
You are one of the few which not only have a good wife but non greedy parents. For here you are blessed. Never take that for granted.

Foreigner Questions Thai Dowry: Netizens Respond
I gave a small sinsod and it didn't matter to me at the time, because I loved her. Traditionally, Thai's want a sinsod to show that the man can take care of their daughter. It's supposed to be given back to the couple after the ceremony but in my case, and many others I hear about, the mother in law keeps it. Simply greed. It doesn't have to be given if the girl has had children before. My girlfriend's son is engaged to his girlfriend and the grandma and mom want 250,000, which he nor his mom has. It's extortion of sorts, because they plan to keep it themselves, and won't allow the marriage unless it's paid. He's 20 and she's 19, which means they can marry anyway. I told my girlfriend not to sweat it. They have a year to come up with the money, and if they're still together (chances are they won't be) then they can decide themselves what they want to do. They don't need permission. Again, it's only greed that fuels this. Nothing wrong with coming up with whatever amount they can afford, as long as the couple gets it back. After all, this being a society of many poor people, the couple will need this starting a life together, and the grandma and mom taking the money is a selfish act.

The Best Burger in Bangkok
White Castles are the cheapest burgers around. They of course don't compare to a real home made burger but when I pass a White castle I will definitely buy a bag.

I have enjoyed my time in Thailand, but...
Yes, crime is more common in the US, but Thailand is still up there as far as many crimes are concerned. Intentional homicides here is higher than the US.The murder rate is higher. Most of the gun crime in the US involves gangs and suicides. The mass shootings in the US are a big reason the crime rate is higher. Thailand hasn't caught up with the US as far as that's concerned, but it's rising. Again, I was a white man going into black neighborhoods many times, and no trouble. As far as safer of not getting randomly beat up, Thailand is way ahead on that. Cowardice is huge here, with many boys without fathers getting in groups that are consistently ganging up 5 against 1, many times kicking while down, using sticks and knives. This does not happen back home besides the gangs against gangs crime. People break into others homes here all the time, just like in the US. Here because of poverty, there because of greed. People treat animals badly here, which is a precursor to treating people the same. In the US, people really love animals and see them as family. Here it's obviously not the case, and it's been said many times, you can judge a country on how it treats it's animals. I am in no way downplaying the crime in the US. I'm simply pointing out that's it's very high here, and will much less enforcement and more corruption going on, it will only increase. Locals seem to have a very short fuse before exploding in violence, as can be seen in another post, where someone came back to a shop after being told not to smoke in the front, and cut the owners arm off with a machete. I will always feel safer back home than here. This is also a major reason I will bring my daughter to the US to live. Girls and women here are secondary at best, and that's not what I want for my daughter. Just a little on stats..........https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_Thailand

Boy, 11, declines HIV test knowing partner’s positive status
Most men mature emotionally by the age of 25. Some take longer. I'm guessing you never had children so don't understand how fast they mature. I've had 6, and all, minus the 7 year old I have now who is still too young to consider, were very immature until their later teen years, almost 20. They made bad decisions regarding the other gender and it brought them big trouble, especially the girls. This after me trying to teach them what boys are looking for. Learning on your own is a teaching tool but you do learn the hard way. A boy at 11 knows nothing about girls besides what he's heard from other boys, unless he's been molested by someone or has seen his mother or father having sex and is curious. You don't have to know anyone personally if you know psychology. It is a study of human behavior. People all act alike in many ways. There are only a few personality types that all humans fall into. 16 to be exact. Being sexually active at age 11 is a major problem. Of course sperm isn't produced until puberty but the mental issues involved go deep if this is happening.

Boy, 11, declines HIV test knowing partner’s positive status
That's just it, he's not mentally capable of making a rational decision regarding having sex. This kind of warped thinking is why so many girls here have babies with young boys who will never stick around after the baby is born, which leads to a cycle of repeat again and again. Kids without dads suffer from many problems, one of them not knowing what to do with a girl besides have sex and leave. Future generations without responsible parents will make this world a whole lot worse. The breakdown of the family unit is a major reason it's been going downhill for so many decades.

Boy, 11, declines HIV test knowing partner’s positive status
I'm thinking he was being facetious in his reply. The first encounter can mean a STD. Ray Gillen, singer from Badlands, died from Aids from being with a few groupies. Supposedly knowingly passed it on and a few caught it and one died. Never know when it will happen.

Boy, 11, declines HIV test knowing partner’s positive status
And sometimes, and especially in this case, that boy doesn't have the mental capacity to make a rational decision as far as sex is concerned. Most of the blame is on the girl, the rest falling on the (absent?) parents.

Dermatillomania
You asked if I was her sister, brother, son or something else. I gave you something else. I can see by her posts that she is knowledgeable on many things pertaining to health. As this is (was) my field, I can tell she's up on certain things regarding health, both physical and mental.
-
Dermatillomania
No, just another one that understands mental issues from reading up on them.
-
Dermatillomania
She does know that. This is why she said it usually responds well to CBT. Like Trichotillomania and others, it's a mental issue.

Boy, 11, declines HIV test knowing partner’s positive status
True, he might not actually have contracted HIV from her but another STD or UTI.

No, the current problem is children having children with children, and mainly because they're fathers aren't around to guide them, along with their mothers thinking going to a large city to work and sending a little money home, not seeing their kids but a couple times a year, while grandma watches them and allows them to do things a responsible parent wouldn't.

Thai Officials Announce "Innovative" Expat Health Measure
You acting like you always do had me thinking like we always do. Things like this are a touchy subject to many farangs here, so we take it personally when this kind of thing might happen. I know it's April 1st, as I played with my family this way, but when someone isn't believable, that's how you're thinking lies. ha ha

Thai Officials Announce "Innovative" Expat Health Measure
I do what I feel is the right thing to do, unlike many here. It isn't my attitude that got me Covid. It was locals not following common sense rules about staying away from each other while socializing. Again, you aren't "getting" the fact you might have also been carrying Covid, then gave it to others, who might have passed away from it. The USA has more people coming and going than any other country, with a huge population. This, along with Trump's ignorance, thinking he "knows all about Covid", and not closing the borders quick enough, is why so many caught it. Try thinking before you post, because again, you are behind in logic.

Thai Officials Announce "Innovative" Expat Health Measure
Why do you continue to reply, when every one makes you look more ignorant? I already told you that I follow the rules, that I caught Covid, twice, from a local, and always do anything I can to not give anything I might be carrying to another. Why do you care what I do? It's none of yours or anyone else's business. I asked you if you were a Thai. You didn't answer. If not, you're a foreigner, another of the dirty ones we hear about, from misguided, ignorant, prejudiced morons that only like us for the money we spend, and have been taught this ignorance by generations of ill advised, non educated people who can't get out of first gear, and blame whoever they were taught to blame.

Some, like narcissists, those who have another mental illness, and those with a very low IQ, that cannot comprehend the simple answers I've given.
-
Thai Officials Announce "Innovative" Expat Health Measure
That I did follow simple rules, like I said but you somehow missed, and caught it twice, means I caught it from someone that caught it from another, meaning a local, because I wasn't near, again, any foreigners. Can you understand this or will I need to repeat it? I put the blame where it goes.

Thai Officials Announce "Innovative" Expat Health Measure
I'm not "to" dim to get it. I get it while you are just posting to brown nose, somehow thinking it's going to help you. I always follow rules wherever I go. Brown nosing means you are sticking up for a certain person or people, hoping to win "favor". I respect everyone who earns it. You not posting will do all of us a "favor".
