  1. I don't believe in reincarnation but if it existed, you wouldn't know it when it hit you, as you wouldn't be the same person anyway, and wouldn't know what was before or after. You only get one chance in life, and need to make sure it's made of more good choices than bad.
  2. They'll all people who are there for the feeling of power. They all promise to do things, and some things good are done. Trump is, and always has been, a weirdo, misogynist, racist yoyo. He did some things right because anyone could in his position, especially if they have Congress behind them. Biden is trying to fix things others before him hurt, along with trying to please the citizens. It's impossible because there's two sides that find it hard to agree on much. Infighting doesn't make good futures. There have been presidents that have done some very good things, and some that have made things worse. That's why a president isn't needed. Things should never be left into one person's hands. Especially when they are affecting millions.
  3. Yes, bigotry is definitely behind many adverse opinions, and that's why I don't base anything on other's opinions, even though many can be spot on. I don't think a person with an IQ of 80 is stupid. They just aren't capable of having, or retaining, much knowledge. I see many problems since I've lived here, both in road maintenance and building, along with the telephone and electrical wiring, which is a disaster in itself. Thai's take a lot from other countries because they know it works. They should take more and the problem here is the prejudice towards foreigners many old school have. Ignorance doesn't help your country. Anyone is capable of being annoying to someone. Not understanding their language doesn't help with communication. That leaves little to talk about, hence the mistaken belief they are all stupid, as some think. I don't think Thais are all annoying. Misunderstandings happen a lot here because of the cultural and language differences, and I understand that. Go with the flow. There are things I don't like about both here and back home. I, like the OP, are just much better suited being back home. An average IQ means just that. Many here are very intelligent, and some worldly intelligent. The problem here is that, like in many places, the wrong people are in charge, and they aren't always the smart ones.
  4. When I move it's back home. Already caught quite a few big catfish. They aren't my thing, although they do fight well.
  5. Not afraid but don't want it to come for as long as possible. Want to see my youngest grow up, get into college, find herself, and find a good mate, along with seeing my other children all do well. Want to travel Europe, see at least 7 countries and explore the sights and tastes. Vietnam, Malaysia while I'm still here. Catch a big Marlin in Australia. Hunt and fish in Canada again. Catch a huge Bass, Muskie and Walleye. See that my girlfriend is as happy as possible. Settle back in Texas so I and my youngest can be near people who actually love her. Live to see the Vikings win a Super Bowl.
  6. I can also walk all day and still lift heavy, and I'm 67. Trust me, I know what goes on in the US, and I prefer it to here because it's nowhere near as boring, and I can't hunt here nor fish the species I like.
  7. Prejudiced against old people? You do realize some here could run rings around you and most other younger people don't you? And if we're sitting around doing nothing, how are you able to respond so quickly? I'm at home because it's a weekday and there (again) is very little to do I haven't already done here. I'm watching a movie on TV and replying to your gibberish.
  8. I'm not alone, and you are unaware. For one who claims to know all about every city in Thailand (not) you certainly don't see the forest for the trees.
  9. Yes, so you should just drift away and reply less. It doesn't show you as anything but a troller that argues just for the sake of arguing. And I know quite a bit about crime worldwide. I'm replying to Jim Tripper, agreeing with some things he said about locals. Look things up and come back much later.................https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_Thailand
  10. You are showing how ignorant and how much of a troller you are with every one word to one sentence reply. You posted two links saying Thailand is one of the top 50 friendly countries. I didn't disagree but stated the US is people from ALL countries, and from what I saw living there 62 years, the ones who were the least friendly were the Asians. This is what I saw. It doesn't mean I am against Asians in any way. Again, I have a Thai girlfriend and half Thai child. Capiche? Calling someone who's obviously much smarter, and observant, and not opinionated than you, seeing I don't post to troll but show stats, isn't helping your cause any. I moved here to be near my ex and our daughter. That's where she lived. Capiche? I don't care for big cities but just like to be near them because they offer some things I like. Prefer country, just like back home. Capiche?
  11. You aren't too good at comprehension are you? I said the US is a nation comprised of people from ALL countries. I didn't say anything about who committed crimes there. Stats are there if you need them.
  12. I have never been proven wrong. Your opinions aren't true, and studies don't show how people are when the study takers aren't around, and some are biased. Again, try being specific.
  13. Another one who doesn't read all of a person's post on a subject and just nit picks things just to disagree. Did you read where I said I have a half Thai child, had a Thai wife and have a Thai girlfriend. Did you read where I said I lived near major population centers where all races and creeds abound, and that I had friends of all of them?
  14. Be specific. Do you understand the definition?
  15. I think you're still missing the point. The US is ALL countries in one place. Thailand is mostly Thais.
  16. I don't live in Sisaket. I live in a tiny village . I've been to Hua Hin. Tourist town just like Pattaya only smaller. Chiang Mai is a huge town like Bangkok with more culture from older times. What's bs to you? Like I said, be specific.
  17. Trust me, I know what goes on there as much as those living there. Lived there for 62 years until 5 years ago, and have gone back, including this November. I have relatives in many states I talk to weekly also. A lot here don't understand the gravity of violence that happens here daily. The news here isn't like back home. Not anywhere near it.
  18. Daily from all countries.
  19. I live in a village, just like millions of others here, and they are all the same for the most part. I don't live in big cities because I hate what they are, and I lived near NYC, Austin, Newark, San Antonio and others, but outside them.
  20. Look into the stats I listed. They aren't bs. Some can live here many years in a village and never encounter problems. The same goes for any village worldwide. I lived in the US 62 years,, and sold guns for years, and never saw any gun violence whatsoever, yet some think it's everywhere.
  21. I think you are one of the people who don't understand that the US is comprised of people from every country, while Thailand is mostly Thais, like all other countries populations, where the majority are native. As far as being friendly, yes, the US does have a lot of people that aren't friendly, but the ones I've run into that look at you with dismay are usually Asians. This I can say all the while having more than I can count of Asian friends living there 62 years. Here many smile at you, but what's behind those smiles? Hatred, fear, prejudice or acceptance? There are many here I get along with. I'm only agreeing with the OP because what he says is what I see.
  22. Exactly. Most , especially those that haven't been outside Thailand, still think all farangs are rich, not understanding the majority live month to month, in debt up to their ears, and there are many on welfare, food stamps, or are homeless. The Thai's I know and have spoken to in the US are very aware not only what goes on here but what goes on there. None of them wants to come back here for various reasons.
  23. Like I said, instead of just putting in a word or two to dispute something, be specific on what you're disputing.
  24. Just in case you don't know how to research, here's but one.................https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Violence_against_women_in_Thailand
