It happens all the time. They are taught to help customers but they don't get the concept of not going too far. They should ask you if you need any help and if you say no, move on, saying if you need anything , let me know. In major stores, workers should have some English skills, because they deal with a lot of foreigners. I have had them many times follow me around. Sometimes I think they think we are there to steal, especially if they have done it themselves. If that's the case, I play their game, walking all over the store and glancing at them, in effect showing them they are overdoing it, and they shy away.

I know all about it,I was there 62 uears in a few different states. But for me, it's home. Problems are everywhere, but what you consider to be home, is where you're comfortable.

A stark reminder of Thai "hospitality"
So you would take a teenage girls story over an adult farang? If you read into his tale, you can see the only thing he said which might be construed as resistance is that he "insisted" because the first girl said it was okay. This, and what he tried to do, is far from unreasonable. He didn't need the bags, at this time, and just wanted to exchange for other items, not ask for a refund for a small priced item. There isn't a problem with this besides that particular store's return policy. This isn't a story added to another post about Thai bashing. This is a legitimate beef that he came across yesterday and just wanted to vent about. Seeing that some of us believe him and some don't, there's that small possibility that some are wrong, and some are right. I go with him for the before mentioned reasons, that this happened to him, and he wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary, wanted to get a few items in exchange for something he paid for and didn't need, and the girl either didn't want to bother to exchange for him because he is a foreigner, that she didn't understand the policy and how to do a refund, or that that store doesn't do refunds, when they originally told him they would. Of course there are those that will disagree for any number of reasons, prejudice against farangs, ignorance of the 7-11 policies or lack thereof, arguing just to argue, thinking that this man is somehow cheap because he wanted a refund on a small item, or anything else they can come up with just to disagree.

A stark reminder of Thai "hospitality"
You know, it's easy to notice, if you're an observant person, that you like to dis foreigners. If you're a foreigner and not a local in drag, that doesn't look good to the rest of us. We have enough US and Brit bashers here already. If you do it to troll, that's childish, arguing just for the sake of. But it's consistent, so at least you have that.

It's called responsibility for my daughter, if you can understand that. I stay because I'm not prepared to start over again with her back home. If you don't have children, you can't relate, nor comment.

A stark reminder of Thai "hospitality"
True, but if you add the millions of children without fathers and girls who are taken advantage of from a very early age, you understand conditions which aren't safe for them here, along with the human trafficking that takes hundreds away from their families each year. Add to that a psycho policeman who killed 24 toddlers last year, and the thousands who are beaten and killed by sticks, machetes and knives yearly. A third of the child population that's raised by grandparents because of those absent fathers and moms who think they have to leave the village and go to a big city to work, paying more for rent than the profit they get from a city job, and only see their kids twice a year. I was in the US for 62 years, and never saw the violence you hear about in the news. This is the same as here, where, although there haven't been more then the one school mass murder, there have been many mass murders over the years here. The news doesn't tell much here besides snakes in homes, gold store robberies and road deaths.....................https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_massacres_in_Thailand

Thailand makes headlines: Top 30 ranking in US News & World Report’s Best Countries List
Actually they do, because, unlike you, I treat others well, and they can spot fake easily. And how you come to that conclusion is beyond normal thinking, because I've never said anyone doesn't like me, but that my ex did things a normal woman doesn't. Many expats can relate to that. Many Thais don't like any foreigners, and it's because of that fake superiority that you show. You do understand that you are one of a few here that assume about others, that they know them, how they are beyond this forum, how smart they are, or how well they understand a particular subject. How you act here just might be how you are, and that's sad, because it isn't the best attitude if you want friends.

Learn to comprehend. Don't assume I can't use something you can use, although your replies are usually a line or two of nonsense.

When I went back home last year, after not for 5 years, it sure felt like home to me. The area around San Antonio was a bit more developed, but I was surely home. Everything that was there when I left was still there, and it felt normal to me. This has never felt like home, although it has been for 5 years.

A stark reminder of Thai "hospitality"
No, my girlfriend is Thai, and translates. I've heard it a few times, not sure where, but it wasn't Thai reporters on Mono 29 or 27. Some news you can get here they speak English. If I remember, it was channel 2, Thai TBS or another in the lower channels. I don't make things up, and why would I? That's not something you would make up for any reason. It makes sense that local channels would only speak of deaths at the scene, and not do a follow up. Stats should include follow up for a certain amount of days, so it wasn't from a link, but I've heard it a few times. It also may have been on American channels, as I do get news from home o Yahoo.

When you reply, you have to post the whole thing, or others might take it out of context. I said, the newscasters have said they aren't counting the deaths after leaving the scene. Then I posted that link for the other man who replied to my topic, for his benefit. That was two different things I posted that aren't related to each other besides both being about Thailand traffic deaths.

Thailand makes headlines: Top 30 ranking in US News & World Report’s Best Countries List
Thailand is hot year round. Some people never leave the comfort of their homes except to go to the store, in an air conditioned car. It isn't the heat that's so bad, although with the humidity, it is, because back where I'm from in Texas it's actually hotter on average than here. It gets cold in Texas, and snows sometimes, and it has seasons, which Thailand doesn't. The rainy season here is a disaster in itself. Dirt roads, one of which I drive on to get to the main road, is like driving in oatmeal during the rainy season, and like driving in dust the rest of the year. Rain is constant, so you can't do much of anything outside. It brings bugs, which is another major problem. I thought Texas was bad, but it doesn't compare to the stinging and biting insects here, especially scorpions, ants and centipedes. I see snakes almost every other day, and some of these are among the worst on earth, so I'm always worried about my 6 year old walking around. People complain about the dogs, and they are a problem, even though I like dogs, I've never seen so many loose ones in my life, and it makes driving a hazard daily. I never hit a dog in 45 years of driving all over the US, but have hit three here. I saw all run off, but not sure what happened afterward. Malaria isn't bad here but Dengue is. I fear for my daughter more than myself, but don't want it either. I don't see the "mafia" where I live, but knew about the human trafficking that goes on here for many years, and it's a major reason I won't allow my daughter to stay too much longer here. It is cheaper to live here though.

As can everyone else that has a phone. It's never good to assume. Just said it's easier to google on a computer, especially if your vision isn't it used to be. As per the topic, I agreed with him that some here are prejudiced against foreigners and won't go the extra distance like they will with locals. I've seen this. Some think he's being petty. We weren't there, so I give the benefit of the doubt to him.

Here's another, since I'm guessing you don't have a computer to easily google things. Says 56 a day, so you see, you get different things from different sources. The newscasters have said they aren't taking into account deaths after leaving the scene................https://tdri.or.th/en/2020/11/road-accidents-biggest-health-crisis/

Please. Don't read, don't comment, stay away. You have a reputation as a troller, someone who only argues for the sake of it. As I said, you don't know me, nor anyone else here, yet you assume you do. Not a mark of intelligence.

And you are confused, a person who, like a few here, assumes you know someone from a few typed words. It's easy to type a few words, making your own opinion, yet be always wrong. You're very good at that. Consistent at least.

A stark reminder of Thai "hospitality"
Ok, so I heard it many times watching news both here and on stations I receive from America. There isn't any evidence besides that either way. The only way to know for certain that the hospital deaths and at the scene deaths are counted together is to ask the stat makes themselves. End of discussion. The stats say 62. I've heard from 58 to 75 on many occasions in all the years. If you look at Wikipedia, the average is around 60 plus. That's a lot of deaths a day, and that's what I was saying.

It isn't only because of money. From what I've been told, it's because there is a lot more things to do there. They didn't have to stay at the farm and work to the bone till death. They could open a restaurant that can make not only a living but do something they enjoyed. They had more freedom there than here. The variety of foods is much higher than here and more to the original tastes than restaurants here. Schools for their children are much better. Health care is better. Driving is safer. You can buy and own land there. This I already knew before these and others told me. Many people like Thailand, and it does have a lot of nice things, but living in other countries is a lot more rewarding.

Fred only goes by facts , and some, like you, that aren't educated but have their own belief system, just have to come and make their own opinions. I'm sorry if you can't comprehend a long paragraph, but most adults that conquered high school can. YOU save yourself the trouble and stop making yourself out to be the fool. A lot of us here know you as well. I'm here to help. You're here to argue and assume you know people because they suggest things you can't understand or relate to. If I'm wrong, I always admit it. When you're wrong, you call people names. People who are obviously much more educated than you. You name sure fits.

I was counting the minutes until you had to come here and post one of your inane, assuming replies. This halfwit is probably more rehearsed in matters psychological than anyone you'll ever meet, and you are among the narcissists that just have to come in and make your mark, although it always is a stupid one. I've watched you for a long time, and all you do is try and argue with people, with no sense of logic, and always making things sound worse than they actually are. That's a narcissists way's. Thinking somehow they are superior when in fact they are inferior, even to their own thinking. The OP came here and posted an experience HE went through, and other's, some of whom are known brown nosers and plain trollers, just had to put in their opinions on how things went down, all the while knowing they weren't there. This HAS happened to me and others that live here, and there's nothing wrong with wanting a refund, or credit, for something you didn't need, especially a day later, to the same store, with a receipt. 7-11 has many stores, and many are franchises. All have their own rules. What works at one will not at another. Kids are hired at these stores, with many of them going through the motions, and some are kids raised by prejudiced parents, of which there are many here. The worker was going to make a refund, but then said it was too late. If you look at the policies of 7-11's, you have 30 days to bring something back. Again, this store might have been a franchise, and their rules might be different. We don't know, and anyone, like you, that assumes things about people, isn't too bright because you don't know anyone online unless you meet them, and people like you would never meet a person in person and talk your <deleted> then, because cowards are always big talkers in forums.

Call the hospitals. they'll let you know how many died after the fact. I know of 5 that did after going to the hospital just in my girlfriend's tesaban, as she works for them.
