Venereal Diseases / VD
Not exactly something to brag about. 6 little pills won't cure HIV or Herpes. Condoms won't protect you all the time. STD's run rampant in Thailand (Pattaya) because it's considered the sex capital of the world. With that amount of paid sex there will be a huge increase in the amount of STD's. Only one protection that will work.

Exactly. Went with one or two as a teenager, but learned from then I didn't want to get something I wouldn't get rid of, or worse, die from. It is possible to contact an STD from any woman on earth, but you're really playing Russian Roulette if you continue going from one to another, or worse, going with women who have been with hundreds of men, who have also been with many women, who have also been with hundreds of men, who have been with many women, who have also.........................

You sold everything!
It's actually the same as in the US. All non matrimonial property, meaning bought before marriage, belongs to the buyer. Anything after the marriage is community property, and is divided. A court might give the wife the house because they feel, wrongly, that she is the nurturer and should stay there with the kids. The man can fight this if he can prove he is a better choice to raise the kids, where he would retain the house, but it usually goes to the woman, in the US also. No one can get anything of yours if it was yours before the marriage. If your lawyer doesn't give a shiit, he will ask you to settle because he is lazy and just wants to get paid and go on with his next case. There are certain circumstances where the house might be split. One being if the wife lived there before they married, which would mean she helped with bills. Another would be if her financial needs would not be met unless you sold the house. Then it would be split equally usually. I think you got screwed or your lawyer was a dick.........................https://anshamwhite.com/family-law-solicitors/is-a-house-owned-before-marriage-classified-as-marital-property-during-a-divorce/

Heartbroken British mother accuses Thai officials of ‘lies’ in son’s alleged suicide in Thailand
When people are suicidal, all it takes is a thought, and then it will happen. They can be driving down the road, listening to music they like, thinking of their girlfriend and how much she loves him, just having a great Thai lunch, then the next thought is, this life sucks, and will never get better, no matter what. What they don't realize at the time, is that was just another random negative thought, that it will pass, that an hour from now they might feel better, and look at things in a more positive way. Tomorrow can come if you allow it to. And tomorrow can be a great day. When you change your thinking, and wrong thinking happens to everyone a lot, the world doesn't look so bad, and if your next thought is going to see a professional, that could be the beginning of your climb out of the dark hole you're in now.

You sold everything!
I sent all of my things in a container, for $1650, on an 18 wheeler to the port in Texas, then on a boat for a month, to another 18 wheeler here, to a house 1/2 kilo from my house being built. Then grandpa here used his pickup many times to help deliver my things down a dirt road to my house, 250 meters from the road. I have thousands of things I wouldn't want to try and buy again, as many aren't possible to find, or easy to find, like fishing tackle, thousands of cd's and dvd's. I left my hunting gear back home with my daughter, to use when I return. It will again be a total pain in the arse to pack it all up and send it back, but this isn't home to me, so one more time...............

I am totally powerless against it.
One thing about falling off the wagon, don't get on yourself about it. Just try and not drink so much consciously. Going cold turkey on any addiction is very hard. Weaning yourself off gradually can work, until it no longer is as attractive as it was before. Then you can either quit outright, or just become one of the occasional social drinkers like the rest of the over 1/3 population is.

Yes, and Robin Williams is another example of someone who put his depression aside by being an excellent comedian, all the while hurting. My best friend took his life back in 1987, before much was known about treatments and medications, and he had a very good life if you looked at it from the outside. Good wife, house, car, job, hobbies, friends, good family, and class clown, which was his way of putting his own hurt out, along with sleeping during the day a lot.

People that take their own lives are suffering from depression most of the time. It can be an episode that just came on from a recent tragedy, and the mother doesn't say much besides "He wasn't suicidal", which most people never know until it happens, as suicidal people , those that are really going to do it, don't usually tell others beforehand. Those that are thinking of it, because they are having troubles, will tell others close to them that they are feeling down, and might mention it, wanting help but not knowing just how to get it. If it wasn't a recent tragic episode of loss or some other problem, then he might have had depression for a long time. People with depression have many ways to self medicate. Buying things a lot, having a lot of sex, drinking, drugs, over sleeping, eating very little or a lot, bouts of unwarranted anger and others.

Re-entry Permit. Suvarnabhumi Airport??
Was actually going to need one myself, and was thinking of going to immigration in Sisaket. I'm leaving in November with my daughter first week of November. Can I get it the beginning of October, meaning is it too early a month beforehand or it doesn't matter? I have a passport photo so I'm guessing that's what they need?

Depression's a tricky thing. A person can come off looking happy to everyone, even those very close, and be hiding a dark cloud that hovers over them. Going on vacation is one way of coping, but you can't escape from yourselves. it has to be dealt with with therapy and possible medications to help with the symptoms. I can understand the mother not thinking her son was suicidal, and wanting an answer, so it is a good idea to investigate thoroughly, especially in a place known for lies and coverups. Living in another country won't make this easy.

Or buy the house before you get married, as I did. My ex tried to get it but I bought it in my own name 2 weeks before we got married.

Police officer fatally shot by colleague at Thai ops base
I'm wondering what type of psychological they have to go through before being hired. People talk about how some cops in the US go haywire, which they do, but it's getting more and more prevalent here in Thailand. A soldier shot 29 in the mall in Korat, then a former cop kills 34 kids and adults last year in Na Klang.

Google accused of directing motorist to drive off collapsed bridge
I could maybe understand if it was a Tesla and he wasn't actually driving, but you still have to look where you're going when you follow maps. Many times, especially here, google has said in the next 50 meters, make a U-turn, when I was supposed to go straight, or in 50 meters, turn right, into a mountain. Wasn't there a barrier before the collapsed bridge? Sad for him and his family, but a lawsuit?

Sadistic Thai father confesses to killing five children in chilling case
Thai wives are still Thais, as are their sisters, brothers, moms, dads, cousins, aunts and uncles. And a Thai wife that's married to a farang has an easier life than does the rest of the population besides the few hi-so's, so how are they at the bottom rung? The average income here is much less than what a farang brings in.

You sold everything!
Not nonsense, fact. I paid for 32 years around 1000 a month for a house that I sold for 167K. I have found at least 12 houses back home that cost right around 1000 a month. I will be working part time to have extra money for what else. Your statement means I would pay 1000 a month for 5 months to pay off a 5000 dollar house. Mortgages are 15-30 years.

Sadistic Thai father confesses to killing five children in chilling case
You can disagree, but you're still wrong. This country is a very boring place to live, just like the US Midwest. Boredom brings on alcohol and drug use. I've been here, and have talked to hundreds of farangs, who have Thai wives and family, which I did. They are all drinkers, including the grandmas in many families. All of my girlfriend's family besides her dad are drinkers, as are all of the people who she works with in her tesaban. They find many excuses to drink. 80% in jail are for drug busts. Thailand has more women in jail than any other country, and most are for drug busts.

You sold everything!
Do you live there? I did for 62 years, and all of my family still does. If you can pay the rent, they will rent. A mortgage is also possible for retirees. Who is eligible for mortgage in USA? Conventional loans (the most common type) require a 620 FICO score; FHA loans require a 580 minimum; VA loans usually require 580-620; USDA loans require a 640 score. Credit history: Your recent credit history also determines whether you qualify for a home loan.

Sadistic Thai father confesses to killing five children in chilling case
You are about as wrong as anyone can be, assuming the mental health here is superior to anywhere. There are as many people suffering with depression here as anywhere else per capita. Narcissism is has been a learned thing for centuries,as you can see on how things are run here, and in case you didn't know, narcissism has no cure. There is no where near the resources for mental health here as there are in the US. Yes, there are quite a few Americans on prescribed medications, but also here, and a lot of those are available OTC here, so the stats would be a lot lower. Drug use here compares to anywhere else, especially yaba. At least 39% here between 15-24 are users. Thailand has the highest drug abuse in SE Asia. As far as Buddhist culture, many go through the motions but aren't true disciples. You actually think there are close communities here? I have never heard of a place where friends backstab each other more than here. Theft of anything and everything happens daily here because of poverty, and that won't change anytime soon. The gossip that goes on matches anywhere on earth, and as you can see, the bull<deleted> lakorn acting is the same as in the US, which makes a lot think it's normal behavior. Human trafficking here is huge, and that's a mental illness in of itself, especially when the police are involved. You see very few, if any, locals paying child support for their children, children that have absent fathers who have no interest in their lives after they are born, which is also a mental health issue, and one that the courts allow, which is why is persists. Not being held accountable for kids you make shows you can continue that with other girls, who then leave the kids with grandma over 35% of the time. Alcohol abuse here is very high also, as the boredom is so high they have little else to do. US is 13%, Thailand almost as much. Thailand is a developing country that has been ranked 5th worldwide and 1st among the ASEAN countries in alcohol use in 2018, with 30.3% of males and 5.2% of females aged 15 years and above reported to be drinkers [12]. In 2015, approximately 29.5% of Thai youths aged 15-24 years were reported to be alcohol users [13]. Read the link if you think things aren't without mental illness here, before you try comparing them to the US, where laws are enforced....................https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_Thailand
